Halle Blackwood thought she had life figured Write steamy books. Fake a happy marriage. Pretend temptation didn’t have a Texas drawl and a slow, easy smile.
Then narrator Julius Fontaine stepped out of her headphones and into her face — married, messy, and dangerous — and suddenly fiction felt a little too real.
Blank pages turned into bad decisions. One night. One delicious mistake she can’t quite spit out.
**P.S. To Chris Renee, thank you for always having my back and reading whatever I ask you to. **Also…a version of this story was previously released in an anthology called 'If Only for One Night'. It has been revised and edited to become an entirely new story, with new characters, and a new ending.

3.75⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️The beginning of this book was a little bit rocky. I was kind of confused about what was going on and the exact extent of their relationship, but once they got into it, spice, spice, spice. I would like to say that I do not like the cheating trope at all, but the author wrote this very well.
Yes, the story was good. I liked the idea, but there were too many areas that needed a quickie edit to clear up some of the little problems. Missing words etc. The cover was exquisite, and the overall storyline was chef's kiss good. The short story is about a married female author and an undercover married male narrator. The one with the velvety voice and BDE that he freely shared. The pair connected, and the rest of the short story, smh, you will have to read about for yourselves.
Aftertaste was a short, spicy treat for me. In just over 50 pages the tension oozed from the pages and I was getting so anxious about how things would play out. The characters were Halle Blackwood and Julius Fontaine - Halle is an author who writes spicy books and Julius is a highly sought after voice narrator. Both had quite a few things in common, like being married to other people. They worked together on projects and chatted online, in less than professional fashion - only Halle didn’t realize who she had been talking to online. Things changed when Halle and Julius came face to face for their first meetup. Halle believed that a joke had been played on her - but nope. It was clear early on that the physical attraction was there, and dare I say an emotional bond as well, since both had shared things about their lives prior to the meetup. I personally think Halle was torn between throwing caution to the wind with Julius versus admitting that her husband was trash - especially when Julius called her out on more than one occasion. I don’t know how, but some kind of way, Nikki had me feigning for Julius and Halle to cross the line on so many occasions - morals be darn. Wow! And when they finally gave into the temptation, the sparks were flying. It was truly worth the wait. The book read like a short film or tv show, I could vividly imagine every scene playing out. Great job!
Author meet narrator, narrator meet author: If you enjoyed Scandalous, meet its homie Aftertaste. Picture engaging with your favorite sexy narrator online becoming friends while flirting and testing the boundaries of pull up sir, until he does, pull up that is and your azz is stuck in disbelieve because he is as fine as his voice is divine.
Aftertaste was crossing the proverbial line, it was temptation, forbidden, sexy, risky, flirty, revengeful and dangerous. The way he narrated that thang in the hotel using every letter in the alphabet she wrote was scandalous and seductive.
This book is a quick read that was as fast as a premature nutter that still satisfied with our purpose...but that AFTERTASTE it left behind will stay on your mind.
