Janna Thompson believes she’s going downright mental. In the past few weeks, she’s seeing things no one else can see and can’t shake an ominous presence. Yet, when a hot cop with a protective instinct moves into her apartment building, things might be looking up.
Cade Lanter is no ordinary being. The son of a human policeman and a Queen of the Fae, he lives in the human world for now. When an enemy of old threatens the balance of both the human world and Eiru, Land of the Fae, he must fight the would-be usurper in the human realm. Of course, that might require more focus than he can muster lately since a certain, sexy neighbor keeps him distracted.
Their two, unlikely worlds collide when he becomes The Fae Next Door.
My writing journey started with an old fashioned typewriter. When my family brought it home, I knew what I wanted to do. All those stories rolling around in my head could finally get out. The press and click of the keys were satisfying in their own right, but when I pulled out a finished page, I knew this was for me. Since then, I 've graduated to a laptop, but the stories still find a way out.
I'm a breast cancer survivor, a teacher, a wife, a mother, and a writer. Nowadays, I strive for less procrastination and more tact. The battle wages on.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LOP)
This is the second book of this series j have read, starting with #2 and ending with this one. On the plus side i have to admit i really liked these characters, their chemestry and the way they interracted with each other. I loved to read about these uncomfortable moments when you first meet someone you like and are scared your too intense and stuff like that - so it kinda gave me a laugh. However, like the other book, even if the intrigue and story was ok, it just didn't do it for me... 3 stars because it was good enough for me to make it through and even appreciate the read, but no more because i'll forget this one by the time i start the next... sorry.

The Fae Next Door is the first in a series. There's some overlap between the first and second books, so I think it helps to read this one first. I loved Janna and her reaction to all the paranormal stuff popping up around her. I think I'd be making an appointment with a mental health professional as well. Cade was great, and I was impressed that he gave her the space she needed to figure things out as well as the option of a normal human life. Even if that meant losing her forever. And how kickass was Jenna at the end?!? I did wish the book was longer, but I am happy to see that the characters are in the next book as well. I can't wait to see where this series goes!
The Fae Next Door is the first book in the Love Next Door series by Cherie Marks but it is the third book in the series that I have read. Yes, for some odd reason, I started with book three The Dragon Next Door first. But each story can be read as stand-alone.
I enjoyed reading all three books tremendously and don’t feel as if I missed anything of importance in the stories. Each book is unique in its way. I loved all the characters and their stories. I loved the world-building in each book. The world-building in each book was magic, to say the least.
I must admit that I have enjoyed reading every book that I have read by author Cherie Marks. Cherie is one of my favorite authors and I will read anything she writes. Cherie is one of those authors where you don’t have to read the summary of one of her books to know that you are going to enjoy it.
Cade Lanter is half human and half fae. Cade has come to the human realm to find another fae that is bent on destroying the human and fae worlds. Cade must find a way to stop him before he destroys everything.
Janna Thompson believes she is going nuts as she is starting to see things. Things that are there one minute and gone the next. If that is not enough she has a new neighbor.
Cade Lanter the hot sheriff moves in next door. Sparks fly when Janna and Cade meet and things start to heat up pretty quickly after that between the two. Janna will not stay off Cade’s mind but luckily I guess it does go both ways here.
Cade knows what Janna is but of course, she has no idea. Cade is very determined to help Janna and protect her from what is to come. I can’t wait to read more in this world. I can’t wait to see what is next for the characters in Love Next Door series.
I highly recommend that you grab a copy of The Fae Next Door today! I recommend The Fae Next Door to anyone looking for a good mystery with love and magic as a bonus!
This was a very entertaining romance in the "Girl Next Door" kind of template, with a twist of Fae and magical beings , thrown in for fun. Janna , our herione thinks she is losing her mind when paranormal things begin to suddenly start popping up around her. before she can completely lose it, she litterally runs into her new next door neighbor, Cade a policeman who happens to be the son of the Queen of the Seelie world and a deceased human policeman. As things heat up between Janna and Cade, Janna comes to realize there is more to her than she could have ever imagined and Cade is on the case of a rogue Fae out to destroy hstis mother and the kingdom she rules. There is plenty of steamy sex scenes and mystery and adventure. It is true that the characters are a little two-dimensional. There is nothing in the way of setting development, how the Fae and Human world interact, and the magic goes unnoticed in the world Janna has grown up in. Yet , as a girl who once read Sillohuette Romances by the dozens because they were quick and easy to finish without interfering too much with school assignment deadlines, I am not too disappointed by this. ""The Fae Next Door" by Cherrie Marks is a fun, light, escape on a rainy afternoon.Like cozy mysteries, it is made to be enjoyed curled up on the couch with a cup of hot tea, and a few hours of peace and quiet. This is the first in a series and I will probably read book two in the future when again I am confronted with a need to take a short break and escape for a few hours into another world.
I will admit, I've had this book for a while in my library but kept being put off to read it by the not very well done cover. It doesn't attract me to the book and makes me think the story isn't going to be much either. How wrong was i! The story was actually very good, pulled me in completely and I was absorbed into the storyline and characters. It was written very well and made me want to read more. It was a great mystical take on paranormal romance and I will say I enjoyed it very much.
A romance about the girl nextdoor who meets a policeman. It has a paranormal twist.
There isn't much background on the supernatural aspect. It's more on the romantic side and new discoveries. Cade is trying to stop an evil from destroying his Fae realm as well as our world. He meets Janna who discovers that she is more than being human. She thinks that she is losing her mind, until he shows her who she really is. Will she come to terms with her new discovery?
It takes a while before it really takes off. It's a quick and easy read with lovable characters.
The story kept my interest, but there were a bunch of places that made no sense, as well as a lot of redundancy/repetitiveness. The characters are sort of likable, but I felt they could have used a bit more to bring them depth, I really didn’t feel I knew them that much better by the end of the book. I didn’t feel wow’d by the story, it’ll easily be forgotten after I read a new book or 2. Also, the end was rushed, with the conflicts all too easily wrapped up.
Cherie Marks has written a predictable but very entertaining fae mystery that is full of romance and steamy sex along with plenty of action and adventure. The action heats up when, Janna the lovely and increasingly confused heroine, starts experiencing unexplained events and a sense of foreboding she can't put her finger on. A handsome new tenant becomes her next door neighbor who is very willing to help her any way he can. No cliff hanger here.
Good story of a cop in both the fae & human worlds who meets a woman he is inexplicably intensely drawn to. Janna is a massage student who was not very successful in other things she's tried. One day an exceedingly hot man moves into her building. Why has she dreamed about him before ever meeting him? Thinking she's crazy does not stop the attraction they share. Follow along as they explore what is happening between them!
In this book the author led her characters on a merry chase after the bad guy, the truth about her origins and their HEA. I love that we got a hint of other people in their world and yet the story focused on the two main characters. Oh, and the most adorable little dog, who doesn’t love a hot guy with a tiny dog. I really enjoyed how the author wove this tale and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Fun read with half fae, good storyline and characters, plot twsts, and an adorable dog. There are steamy scenes and action. I give 4 stars because we do not discover who the mastermind villain is. I believe this may be a stand-alone story. I hope there's a second story.
What an interesting story. This is a delightful novel about two Fae beings that discover each other. With a rogue Fae on the loose, Cade has his work cut out for himself and with meeting Jana, life gets real complicated. Glad Cade and Joanna get their HEA!
This story started out real cute but then it kind of lost me along the way. Even if the story seems impossible, a great author can make the impossible seem believable. But after a while I just couldn't believe in this particular story. But then, that's me and not the author.
The fantasy of this book is way cool, Cade sounds like a dream guy and then he meets his forever mate who turns out to be half fae like him. They do make a wonderful team and I hope to read more about them later on.
An entertaining, interesting paranormal romance.I liked Cade a lot ; Janna was a bit much for me to take. As I learned more about her background, I began to understand how perfectly she matched with Cade. I have to read more of her stories.
AWESOME story and characters!!! LOVED it and it was DONE in one book!!! LOVE that occasionally. This book has it ALL!!! Mystery, scary, characters you hate and those you will LOVE, magic, STEAMY, romantic, and FAE!!!
This is a great short story and it's a complete book. It completely drew me into the book. I loved the blooming romance that lead to steamy scenes. The danger and fighting made it awesome.
This was a really cute book. I loved how the author gave the story some interesting twists. The book has humor, cranky characters, a cute dog, and a villain. I recommend this book for anyone who like books about the far.
I really enjoyed Cade and Janna's story. It was well written and held my interest with some heat and some kick ass action as well. You should really give it a try!!
I really liked the concept of this book and it has such a good foundation, however it doesn't have much in terms of character development and the plot feels rather rushed in places.
The first chapter was fine. Well written, good foundation for the main character, anticipatory romantic connection between the potential couple, and a cute puppy to boot. But... time passes progressively up until chapter six and it felt like both characters were going through the motions, so it was a little hard to read. Luckily, I kept reading and around chapter six, it started to pick up with the introduction of Janna’s feisty friends and a suggestion to start using the talent she’s been going to school for (a massage therapist).
And honestly, it’s refreshing that it was the guy who had a super embarrassing moment and not the female. In my experience with Erotica it’s usually the girl. So this was a great change of pace. Not to mention there's actually a plot and a twist for the main character too.
When the actual massage happened... can I just say ‘yum’? I wish it had gone on a little longer before all the cheese started happening. Yes, it got a little cheesy, but hey, this is a romantic erotic, I expected it. I love me some good cheese every now and again anyhow. Right after the steamy, otherworldly, sex a curve ball is thrown – maybe I should use a basketball analogy (you’ll get this if you read the book), but sports have never been my thing. I also want to comment on the mean neighbor Ms. Gregory. She may have been mean and rude, but boy was she funny. Kind of hard not to like really. Plus the whole scene where Cade made her like Gertie (his puppy) so he could get to Janna. Ms. Gregory that character that naturally hates everything or nothing is ever perfect for her.
Overall, it was well written, interesting enough to keep me reading, and hot enough to keep me entertained. It dragged in some areas I’ll admit, but certain scenes, like that massage scene, and when Cade and Janna say they love each other (squee!) were well worth it. I technically would’ve given this book 4.5 stars, but since .5 wasn’t an option, I rounded up instead of down. Great job!
