The first chapter was fine. Well written, good foundation for the main character, anticipatory romantic connection between the potential couple, and a cute puppy to boot. But... time passes progressively up until chapter six and it felt like both characters were going through the motions, so it was a little hard to read. Luckily, I kept reading and around chapter six, it started to pick up with the introduction of Janna’s feisty friends and a suggestion to start using the talent she’s been going to school for (a massage therapist).
And honestly, it’s refreshing that it was the guy who had a super embarrassing moment and not the female. In my experience with Erotica it’s usually the girl. So this was a great change of pace. Not to mention there's actually a plot and a twist for the main character too.
When the actual massage happened... can I just say ‘yum’? I wish it had gone on a little longer before all the cheese started happening. Yes, it got a little cheesy, but hey, this is a romantic erotic, I expected it. I love me some good cheese every now and again anyhow. Right after the steamy, otherworldly, sex a curve ball is thrown – maybe I should use a basketball analogy (you’ll get this if you read the book), but sports have never been my thing. I also want to comment on the mean neighbor Ms. Gregory. She may have been mean and rude, but boy was she funny. Kind of hard not to like really. Plus the whole scene where Cade made her like Gertie (his puppy) so he could get to Janna. Ms. Gregory that character that naturally hates everything or nothing is ever perfect for her.
Overall, it was well written, interesting enough to keep me reading, and hot enough to keep me entertained. It dragged in some areas I’ll admit, but certain scenes, like that massage scene, and when Cade and Janna say they love each other (squee!) were well worth it. I technically would’ve given this book 4.5 stars, but since .5 wasn’t an option, I rounded up instead of down. Great job!
