One by one, I’ve watched my brothers each fall in love and find their partners. I couldn’t be happier for them, but watching them fall in love has left me lonely and yearning to find my person, and I think I’ve found her.
Hannah Pearson is perhaps the sweetest girl I’ve ever met, so asking her out on a date is the easiest thing I’ve ever done.
Everything feels like it’s falling into place, until it all comes to a screeching halt. A threat on my life by a nefarious drug ring I’ve been investigating surfaces, and I’m encouraged to go into protective hiding to ensure my safety. Before I know what I’m doing, I tell the investigators Hannah is my fiancé. I need to keep her safe, too.
Together, we’re hiding in plain sight, convincing everyone we’re a happily engaged couple. With every day that passes, I realize I don’t want this to be a part we play for only a short time. I want it to continue when we get home.
Is there any way she could feel the same?

I just finished this BETA and ARC - and you're going to love this!
This book is perfect for those who love: -Small town -Curvy FMC's (she's a paramedic!) -Policeman MMC (with a cute K9 sidekick!) -Meddling grandparents -One Bed/Forced Proximity -Age Gap (9 years) -Anxiety Rep
Thomas and Hannah were so perfect. He was so loving and supportive. He understood what she needed when it came to her anxiety and was there for her in every way she needed. Hannah was a great FMC and her growth was so good. I loved their slow burn of a story, you were able to really see and feel them fall in love.
In Plain Sight is the final book in the Ivy Ridge series, which follows the four Cunningham brothers and their love lives in the small town of Ivy Ridge. This books follows oldest brother Thomas Cunningham, a police officer working a drug trafficking case, and Hannah Pearson, an EMT who suffers from severe social (and regular) anxiety. When Thomas and Hannah witness a shooting related to the trafficking case while on their first, they are sent to a remote farm hours away from home for their own safety while the FBI tracks down the leader of the drug ring — after Thomas claims that Hannah’s actually his fiancee.
While on the farm, Hannah and Thomas have the opportunity to learn more about each other and grow closer away from the outside influences of their family and normal lives. Of course, their fake engagement leads to real feelings, as well as the worry that this could all end once they return to Ivy Ridge. The farm also features Dottie and Ron, the older couple hosting them on their property, and their collection of animals, including Dave the emu, who pops up when you least expect it. Dave provides some much needed comic relief in what could otherwise be a very heavy story in regards to subject matter, specifically, the drug dealers and Hannah’s anxiety.
I do feel as though some aspects of the investigation/police process were glazed over for the sake of the story, which I’m okay with, but others with a law enforcement/legal background might take note. Hannah’s anxiety is based on some of the author’s real experiences, which lends authenticity to what she goes through. As someone who also has generalized anxiety disorder, I get where Hannah’s coming from, and how easy it is to get frustrated with yourself when there are things you “should” be able to do that come naturally to other people.
If you enjoyed other books in the Ivy Ridge series (especially book 2, Never Really Mine), then chances are you’ll enjoy this one too. Hannah’s anxiety can get overwhelming, not just for the character but for the reader too, but Thomas soon becomes her rock in an unfamiliar storm, which I appreciated. Their love story is very sweet as she learns confidence in herself and in Thomas and he’s beside her every step of the way. There’s also a spicy scene featuring the back of a pickup truck that you won’t want to miss. ;)
Overall, Ivy Ridge has been a fun series and a quick read to escape reality, something we all sorely need these days. I’m looking forward to what Alice Daniels comes up with next!
Thomas and Hannah were a wonderful couple to read. Thomas is a quietly supportive, emotionally intelligent hero who instinctively shows up for Hannah, especially as she navigates her anxiety. Even before she opens up, he notices what she needs and responds with patience and care. Hannah was a fantastic FMC and I loved her journey towards accepting her anxiety as part of who she is rather than something to be ashamed of.
The slow-m burn romance worked beautifully and the fake fiancé/forced proximity setup added tension and warmth. Their time in the safe house despite the danger surrounding them allowed them to build a genuinely strong foundation and really get to know one another. The supporting characters added so much heart; Ron and Dottie were a joy and Arson was an absolute highlight.
Hannah’s anxiety was portrayed with honesty and sensitivity, clearly written with care and understanding. Alice Daniels continues to excel at writing emotionally rich, relatable characters and the themes of community and showing up for one another shine throughout the entire Ivy Ridge series.
In Plain Sight is a heartfelt and satisfying conclusion to the series. I’m sad to say goodbye to Ivy Ridge but I’m very excited to see what Alice Daniels does next. Thank you for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved Thomas & Hannah’s story!!!! (Picture me dancing around like Buddy the Elf singing, “I’m in love! I’m in love! And I don’t care who knows it!)
Thomas was just the sweetest of men. Watching your siblings pair up is so hard when you want it more than anything. And I truly felt I found a kindred spirit in Hannah. While I don’t have her anxiety; the way she would convince herself of things, talk negatively, or create scenarios in her head - oof! Why is it we can be so hard on ourselves and not believe the good that is happening? It really made me love Hannah and her strength and resilience; but also love Thomas who took it upon himself to care for her and learn what her triggers were to try to help.
I really fell for this entire family and series. Alice Daniels does a great job at writing stories that are easy to read, characters who are so lovable, strong plots with little drama (just enough to keep you engaged), and swoony spice scenes.
Honestly this entire series has been such a win for me - going in, I knew Thomas’ book was going to be anything but boring given the lead up but I was NOT ready for fake fiancé and everything else that came with it!
Although this wasn’t my fav ivy ridge couple, I have to acknowledge how once again real they were. The touching on anxiety disorders, trauma, loss - Alice always does a fantastic job of making everyone so relatable in ways that help you to out yourself in their shoes.
I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to get connected with the author and be able to arc read the last two novels - im going to miss ivy ridge but im so excited to see what is to come!
This book was really good, I love advocating for those with anxiety and those that are ‘plus sized’. I loved that Thomas always has Hannah’s back and supported her through everything with her anxiety and her ‘first time’. I also loved that he has asked permission to kiss her but at the same time so unrealistic lol

In Plain Sight was such a treat! The situation that prompted the forced proximity was something I had to suspend belief for as someone who works in the CJ field (as a romantic suspense reader I was also waiting for a climax with the investigation which didn’t really come as expected, so it’s definitely a lighter read for folks who like the genre), but I did enjoy the story overall. Thomas’s care for Hannah, and especially how he helped her manage her social anxiety and make himself a safe person to her warmed my heart.
***Thank you to the author/publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review 💕
I had the privilege to be an ARC reader for this book.
This was the perfect ending for the Ivy Ridge Series, revisiting the Cunningham family for the last time felt like a warm hug.
Thomas is an amazing MMC, helping Hannah through her social anxiety issues all the way without trying to change her or doing things his way, being the most empathic it's the best green flag ever.
Hannah has a beautiful character development, I really enjoyed her journey and it's so easy to love. 😉
I totally recommend it and can't wait to see what's Alice's next novel. 🔥 2.5 ⭐ 4.5
Thank you Alice Daniels for the ARC of In Plain Sight, the fourth book in the Ivy Ridge series. All opinions are my own.
I saw the trope list for this book—plus-sized MCs and a virgin FMC—and immediately said sold. While I haven’t read Alice Daniels’ previous books, I was drawn to her Instagram presence and what she represents, and this felt like the perfect place to start. I’m so glad I did.
Hannah is painfully shy and deeply anxious in her personal life, but when she’s on the job as a paramedic, she’s steady, capable, and fearless. Thomas is a police officer working a dangerous drug trafficking case, and although they’ve crossed paths professionally, things shift when Hannah’s coworker gives Thomas her number. Their relationship begins quietly through texting before leading to a city dance with family members in tow—a night that goes wonderfully…until it doesn’t.
After a violent threat connected to Thomas’s case, he’s placed into protective custody, and in a split-second decision to keep Hannah safe, he tells the FBI they’re engaged—before they’ve even shared their first kiss. Cue forced proximity, one bed, high stress, and a slow, tender bond forming under intense circumstances.
Thomas is truly a standout MMC—gentle, patient, protective, and endlessly kind. I adored how carefully he treats Hannah, never pushing her beyond her comfort while still encouraging her growth. Alice Daniels did an incredible job portraying anxiety in a way that felt authentic and deeply empathetic. While my own anxiety isn’t as severe as Hannah’s, I felt seen in so many of her internal struggles.
The romance is sweet and natural, the spice hits just right, and the supporting characters add so much warmth. And I can’t forget the real stars of the show—Arson, Thomas’s K9 partner, and Dave, the mischievous emu living on the farm where they’re hiding out. One particular Dave-related moment had me laughing out loud, and I’ll let readers discover that joy for themselves.
This book was wonderful, comforting, and heartfelt. I’ll absolutely be going back to read the rest of the Ivy Ridge series and anything Alice Daniels writes in the future.
"In Plain Sight" by Alice Daniels is a forced proximity, age gap, fake fiancé romantic suspense with two great main characters and a lot of excellent conversations about anxiety. Hannah is a plus-size, virgin EMT with extreme social anxiety. She is good at her job, but absolutely hates making phone calls and having conversations. Thomas is a police officer with a gentle soul and the patience of a saint. Hannah has always liked Thomas, but hasn't done anything about it because she gets too into her head whenever she thinks about it (due to the aforementioned anxiety). She also thinks she's way too young for him since there is a sizable age gap between them. Thomas and Hannah wind up eventually going on a first date, and at the end of the night, they are witnesses to the shooting of one of Thomas's coworkers/friends. This shooting is in connection with a local drug trafficking case, and their lives are threatened, so the two of them are sent to a safe house when Thomas lies and says Hannah is his fiancée. Being stuck in such close proximity on a farm far away with no one else to turn to but each other, they explore their newfound relationship further and get to know each other in reverse as they pretend to be engaged for the elderly couple they are staying with. The more they get to know each other, the more their feelings become very, very real. When they get the opportunity to go back in the real world, when the threats to their lives have been eliminated, will they have a chance as a real couple? Thomas is such an understanding MMC, almost too good to be true. He is patient and soft with Hannah when she goes through one of her anxiety attacks. Anyone who has anxiety like this knows how scary and debilitating it can be. To have a safe person with you while you're going through that is rare and hard to find. Thomas is also constantly asking for consent and permission in any and all physical aspects, which is so swoon-worthy, but as I said, almost too good to be true. Hannah provides a wonderful representation of generalized anxiety disorder. We have all felt nervous and anxious at some point, but Alice Daniels really gives readers such a visceral sense of just how deep Hannah's anxiety runs. Her strength in dealing with this issue is admirable. I really loved the two of them together, and this really is a sweet story. My one complaint is that it feels like the investigation part of the story takes a backseat to the romance, and it is merely a pretense to get the two of them isolated in one small place to give them time to fall in love. It's not necessarily a complaint; it is just handled rather quickly without much fanfare or exploration. Other than that, this is a great book that I enjoyed reading! It's not too terribly long, and the pacing is good. I liked all of the side characters and the animal characters as well. This book was so good that it makes me want to go back and read the first three in the series (it is an interconnected standalone and can be read separately).
Thank you to Alice Daniels for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

Is there any way she could feel the same? ******************** Review: I honestly didn’t expect In Plain Sight to get under my skin the way it did. At first it seems like one of those books where everything looks normal on the surface, but the more you read, the more you realize that “normal” is kind of the point—and also the problem.
What I liked most is how real it feels. The characters don’t sound like adults pretending to be teens, which is always a win. Their thoughts are messy, emotional, and sometimes frustrating in the exact way real people are. I found myself getting annoyed at certain choices, but then realizing I might’ve done the same thing in their place. That made it way easier to stay invested.
The tension builds quietly instead of all at once. There aren’t constant huge twists being shoved at you, but there’s this steady feeling that something is off, like you’re noticing little clues that everyone else is ignoring. It made me want to keep reading “just one more chapter,” which turned into staying up way too late.
I also liked how the book handles serious topics without feeling preachy. It trusts the reader to figure things out and doesn’t spell everything out, which I appreciate. It made me think about how often we miss what’s right in front of us, especially when it comes to people we think we know.
Overall, In Plain Sight is one of those books that sticks with you after you finish it. It’s not flashy, but it’s smart, tense, and emotionally honest. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who likes realistic stories with a darker edge and a lot going on beneath the surface. ******************** 363 pages, release date 01/20/2026
I had been counting down for months to this release, and it did not disappoint. Alice has created such a beautiful, emotionally rich universe with Ivy Ridge, one that feels alive long after you turn the final page.
I related deeply to both main characters, and the emotional impact of this story caught me off guard. I cried more than once while reading, and each moment felt earned. Hannah’s journey, in particular, resonated with me. Her experience with social anxiety was portrayed with such care and authenticity that it felt deeply personal. While my own anxiety may not be as intense as hers, I saw myself in her fears, her hesitations, and her quiet strength.
Thomas was just as relatable. Watching everyone around him find their person while he wondered if his turn would ever come was heartbreaking in its realism. His patience, kindness, and emotional awareness made him such a compelling character. I loved how observant he was with Hannah, recognizing her reserved nature and meeting her where she was. The way their relationship began, through texting, was such a thoughtful and realistic approach that allowed Hannah to feel safe and seen.
Gramps is the heart of this series. His presence, wisdom, and gentle encouragement were essential, and the story simply would not be the same without him. Hannah’s sister and sister-in-law were also wonderful additions, serving as supportive, empowering figures who helped her every step of the way. The subtle She’s the Man reference was a fun and perfectly placed moment of levity.
Although Thomas’s grandmother had passed before the series began, Alice does a beautiful job keeping her memory alive. Her presence is felt in quiet, meaningful moments, especially when her grandchildren need reassurance or guidance.
The circumstances that lead the characters into witness protection are intense and emotionally heavy, and may be triggering for some readers. However, they add significant depth to the story and provide the space for Hannah and Thomas to grow closer. Still, every time Hannah reminded herself that their relationship might be temporary, it broke my heart.
Even small details, like Thomas’s dog Arson immediately bonding with Hannah, added warmth and authenticity. Thomas’s family was incredibly welcoming, and seeing previous couples and how their lives have continued felt comforting and rewarding.
This book serves as a strong foundation for a new series, and I am genuinely excited to see where Alice takes us next. She is officially an auto-buy author for me, and I look forward to catching up on her backlist.
I really enjoyed this book. I am not normally a romance reader because I often find the tropes and storylines romanticise problematic behaviours, so I was really happy that there was nothing like that here. The relationship between Hannah and Thomas was sweet and wholesome, but never boring. I loved how respectful Thomas was to Hannah and how he never pushed her "for her own good" or anything like that, which seems to be a common thing in many romance stories, but neither was he some pushover simp. The author really got the balance right in creating an engaging MMC. I also loved that he didn't have rock hard abs, because that is so boring, and frankly not very attractive irl. :D So, I loved the different body types represented. The way that Hannah's anxiety was handled was really well done. It was realistic, and not too over the top. Even when she was all up in her head, Hannah was never annoying. The pacing was well done. The spice didn't come until about 50% through the book, but it never felt slow. I also liked how the near ending really puts the reader through the wringer, and I was really worried for Hannah for a while. I had to keep reminding myself that this is a romance, therefore the ending could not be too tragic, but it was still a nail-biting ride for a while. I loved that Hannah and Thomas were both plus size, but no one ever drew attention to this in a negative way (except for Hannah about herself when she got anxious, but this wasn't overdone, and it wasn't something that she dwelled on), and that they both found each other perfectly attractive the way they were. I liked this representation. The side characters were also well written, and it was great how they were all so supportive, especially Julia and Tiff. It would have been nice to see a bit more of Thomas' insecurities. It was touched on that he was worried that he was getting too old start a family, and when he got jealous when he thought another guy was coming on to Hannah, but these were not explored. Still, this is mostly Hannah's story, so this was fine. I am also aware that this book is part of an inter-connected series, so there may be more about Thomas in some of the other books. I might have to read them to find out... I loved Arson the dog and Dave the emu, who provided some beautifully timed comic relief. All in all, this was a really good read. I would recommend it to romance readers who like to see healthy relationships portrayed in fiction, as well as positive body representation, and to non-romance readers, like myself, who want to dip your toes into the genre.

This is a contemporary romance, and thank you to the author for the ARC.
In Plain Sight centres on Thomas, a small-town policeman, and Hannah, a paramedic living with crippling social anxiety. Hannah is highly competent at her job, but her internal monologue is brutal—and painfully relatable. I had a lot of empathy for her as a character.
Both Thomas and Hannah work high-pressure jobs and become involved in the investigation of a local drug ring distributing to minors. The drugs aren’t pure, and kids are dying on both their watches, which gives the story a darker emotional undercurrent. After witnessing something they really shouldn’t have, they’re sent into a safe house together. This is, quite transparently, a forced proximity setup—so we’re all going to wave our hands enthusiastically and move on. Plot reasons exist. It’s fine.
Hannah is a virgin and socially awkward, but Thomas is an absolute sweetheart, and she feels safe with him almost immediately. There’s also a sudden fake engagement involved. Again: reasons. We are here to watch these two fall in love, not interrogate the logistics.
And fall in love they do. Watching their relationship unfold is genuinely lovely. Thomas falls hard and fast and becomes fiercely protective of Hannah, while her growing ease around him beautifully underscores how right they are for each other—especially given how anxious she is everywhere else in her life. Their emotional intimacy develops quickly, but it works within the tone of the story.
There are appearances from characters in earlier books, a very good dog named Arson (terrible name, excellent dog), and a cast of secondary characters who neatly fit their archetypes—friends, villains, helpers—without much deviation. It all feels familiar, but comfortably so.
Despite tackling heavy themes—death, drugs, anxiety—there’s something light and escapist about this book. Alice Daniels has a real knack for writing characters you instinctively want to root for.
There is an emu. As an Australian, I feel compelled to say: these are not cute creatures. They are bush mafia and will steal your sandwich without remorse. I remain unconvinced the author has ever met one—but I’ll let it slide.
Yes, there are unrealistic elements, but they didn’t detract enough to ruin the experience. This was an easy, enjoyable one-day read.
⭐ 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 — warm, escapist, and emotionally sincere, even if you occasionally have to squint at the plot and keep going.
In Plain Sight by Alice Daniels is the fourth book in the charming Ivy Ridge series, and this time the focus is on the oldest Cunningham brother, Thomas as he falls in love with Hannah, a local paramedic whose social anxiety and generalised anxiety disorder have made her hesitant to dip a toe into the dating pool. Thomas finally convinces Hannah to go on a group date to the local fair but disaster strikes when they are both witnesses to a crime and are forced to go into hiding together as an engaged couple. As they hide in plain sight in a tiny cabin on a farm in Missouri they begin to fall in love for real, but will that love last when they get back to the real world? This was such a cute feel good read, I loved Hannah and Thomas as characters individually and together their bond and relationship was just perfect. I thought the portrayal of Hannah's anxiety was exceptionally well done, and when I read the author's notes at the end of the book I understood why. It really was some of the best representation I have seen in fiction, and I loved that Hannah took agency and took measures to calm herself and was able to state what her needs were , was actively seeing a therapist and was still willing to accept help from those close to her when needed. Seeing how much she second guessed herself and her frustration at her feelings made me so sad for her, but the author really made it clear how debilitating the condition could be. The care and attention that Thomas gave her, his need to help her but also his understanding of her needs made it impossible not to root for them as a couple. Then of course there was the chemistry, this couple had it in spades and while the burn may have been slower than in some of the other books in the series, it was worth the wait, in fact the slow tease is probably almost as much fun for us readers as it was for the characters. This warm hug of a book felt like the perfect way to end a beloved series, and there were hints of where the author intends to go next that were pretty exciting, so while I am sad to say goodbye to these characters, I am also excited to see what Alice Daniels brings us next. I read and reviewed an ARC courtesy of the author , all opinions are my own.
I just love the way Daniels write plus sized women and who they are always valued and cherish by the people in their life, Hannah is sweet and soft and the people in her life don't diminish her anxiety and , i don't think we talk enough how how hard day to day life can be for axius people.
Thomas knew what he wanted and boy he got it, I'm usually not a fan of how virginity is treated sometimes in the romance world but the way Thomas approached it as something casual but still respectfully while trying to make it as good of an experience for Hannah was a drink of fresh water
I do gotta say I found some of Thomas inner thoughts to be unnecessary (why would a man be there kinda annoying) i understand why it is and had to be a dual POV because of it just being the writing style for the series but i feel like this is a book i would have enjoyed way more (i enjoyed it non the less) if it were a single pov from hanna's perspective.
and on the woke side if you are sensitive to say everything is copaganda maybe you wont like this book because is kinda heavy on the unintentional copaganda, so beware that the MMC is a COP

Book Review: In Plain Sight by Alice Daniels Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I went into this one knowing almost nothing except that the tropes were calling my name and I was excited to try a new to me author. As a reader who lives for a plus size female lead, there was no way I wasn’t picking up an Alice Daniels book, so getting this ARC felt like a total win.
And the tropes? They were speaking directly to my soul. I’m a complete sucker for a virgin FMC and a good age gap romance, so diving into Book 4 of the Ivy Ridge Series felt like the perfect move. I’ve seen Alice Daniels all over my feed, and now I fully understand the hype.
Without giving too much away, Thomas and Hannah end up secluded in a cottage with one bed and a whole lot of time together. Watching Thomas gently help Hannah lower her walls and navigate her anxiety was so tender and so needed for both of them. Their connection felt earned, emotional, and deeply satisfying. Also, just like any good romance novel, there's a fun cast of characters and a few quirky and lovable animal sidekicks to round out the story and add a whole lot of laughter!
I have to say… I’m officially in love with Alice Daniels and this book. There were twists I didn’t see coming, emotional depth I wasn’t expecting, and just enough predictability to keep it comforting in that classic romance way. Thomas, a police officer, and Hannah, an EMT, have had a simmering attraction for a while, but once they finally go on that first date, everything changes in so many ways.
Tropes that gave me all the feels: Age gap of 9 years Plus size FMC and MMC Virgin FMC Cinnamon roll MMC Forced proximity Anxiety and mental health rep Fake engagement He falls first Only one bed Law enforcement x EMT
All in all, this was such a quick, engaging, five star read for me. I devoured this in 3 days and l will definitely be continuing the Ivy Ridge series. Books 1 through 3 just shot straight to the top of my TBR!
Huge thank you to Alice for the advance reader copy. This one had been on my radar for a while given the impending release date, and I’m so happy this one made my January list of completed reads!
This is a modern day romance - sweet and realistic. From the opening sentence on page 1 you are swept into Hannah’s busy, sometimes chaotic and frenzied work life. Literally sentences later you meet her soon soon to be LOVE Thomas. Hannah is a paramedic and Thomas is a cop. He is older than her by 9 years yet what is age when love hits you?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the slower pace and build up of their love. The fact that Hannah has anxiety also called to me. As I read it brought back so many personal memories that I did not expect. My husband, boyfriend at the time, and I were forced to live together when COVID hit. I also deal with crippling at times anxiety. The Author did a wonderful job not hiding how serious anxiety disorders can be. We KNOW it is stupid yet our bodies react and lock up. While I was reading I found myself getting mad as I have been in her same shoes. I also found myself rooting for them at the cabin and their forced living situation as mine allowed my husband and I to truly connect. Hannah is sweet and endearing and Thomas is a gentle giant. The tense job related events only add to their story and help guide them towards acknowledging their true love.
This is not a book you read for spice. Yes it has some spice, yet the story is what draws you in. You get invested in not only the Main Characters yet their families. The imagery brought on by the Author’s words makes it all feel real. I for one am glad I can go back and read her other books in the series to see the love stories of other family members. Yet this is a stand alone book and can be read alone.
I give it 5 stars or in this case, 5 dragonflies. A true heartwarming, yet maddening at times, realistic love story.
I received a free copy of this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In Plain Sight brings the Ivy Ridge series to a close and although I’m sad it’s over, this was a lovely final installment to a series full to the brim with heart, kindness and swoon worthy main characters.
I love how the through line for this series is the importance of showing up for each other, be it friends, family or your community. The Sunday brunch crew sounds amazing, please let me join (if only in my dreams)!
In Plain Sight follows the story of Thomas (aka Tommy to his family) a sweetheart, who is a beloved Uncle and a brave police officer who is ready to find his person. Enter Hannah (aka Banana or Freckles to the right people) a curvy paramedic who simultaneously saves lives whilst struggling with debilitating anxiety outside of the working environment.
I adored Hannah, her daily struggles with anxiety were beautifully written and I loved seeing her learn to accept that part of herself as not a weakness. She is incredibly strong and kind and someone you’d love to have on your side. The pairing with Thomas was perfection, he’s incredibly emotionally intelligent, patient and kind.
There’s elements of danger and suspense and forced proximity which keep you on your toes and act as a really captivating backdrop to an incredibly sweet love story.
I have enjoyed this entire series and will probably not shut up about them to everyone in my life. I recommend you go back and read the rest although this is technically a standalone it is interconnected and also each book is such a treat, why wouldn’t you want to spend longer with this group?!
Thank you so much for the ARC, I’ve loved it. I’m also really looking forward to your next series and seeing more of Fletcher!
The illustrations for the character art are amazing of both characters and I’m forever in awe of artists and writers for being able to bring characters to life with such warmth.
"I feel so safe in his arms, so protected and warm that the thought of being without him hurts." - Hannah
"I’ve never felt more like myself, more alive and ready for life as I do when I’m with her." - Thomas
Thomas is a police officer who works with his dog Arson, and Hannah is a paramedic in Ivy Ridge. There was a situation while they were on their first day that changed their lives. Thomas wasn't safe anymore, and he wanted Hannah by his side, so they told everyone that they were (fake) engaged to stay together. A big part of the beginning of their story happened while they were in their own bubble with two very sweet people by their sides, Dottie and Ron. Hannah has social anxiety and needs her safe people around her in new situations, and Thomas was the only one that she knew. I love that Thomas made her feel safe and valued her feelings at all times, and his dog Arson helped with that a lot too. Thomas is so sweet and sure about her, and that was very clear from his perspective. Hannah is worrying a lot about everything and needed to take her time to open up, and I love that everyone was so warm and understanding. I really love Thomas and his family so much; they are very close, and I'm glad that he and Hannah could spend time with them after they got back to Ivy Ridge.
This is a small-town, found-family, age-gap (9 years) romance with mental health (social anxiety) representation, and both Hannah & Thomas (dog dad) are plus-size.
I love this small-town series so much! They all have their own unique stories, and they feel so real. Their family grew so much in a few years; they have weekly Sunday brunches with the whole family, and I love that it was shown in every book. I can't wait to read more by Alice and her upcoming series!
ARC gifted in exchange for review 4.5 stars! Let me start off by saying that even though this is part of a series, you can absolutely jump in without having read the first three books, which I appreciate because sometimes a specific story calls to you for a reason. As someone who has anxiety and struggles still even after years of therapy with negative self talk, and negative critical thoughts about myself, I needed this book. Hannah’s social anxiety is almost crippling but despite it, she is so brave. She doesn’t let it stop her from being an amazing EMT, and the effort she put in every step of the way on this journey was so admirable. Were there times when she struggled a bit more? Yes, did she let it stop her? Nope. So much of that is down to the work she has put in over the years, but a big part of that is also due to Thomas”Sweetest Man on Earth” Cunningham. Thomas is a gentle giant with a heart of pure gold. He is a man who loves his family, loves serving his community and is the most perfect partner for Hannah. Is he perfect? Of course not, no one is. What he is though is patient, understanding, attentive, observant and so many other things. He’s the type of man that you could replace the word “love” with his name in 1 Corinthians and it would describe him perfectly. No lie though, for such a sweet man, he has such a filthy mouth and I LOVE that. Thomas and Arson not only accept Hannah for who she is, but they love and protect her fiercely. Watching them fall in love gave me home, and served as a reminder that the right person is more than worth the wait. I cried more than I care to admit reading this book. Not because it was sad but because it put me in my feels and I’m a sucker for a story where the guy falls first and hard unashamedly.
This is the first book I have read in the Ivy Ridge series, and it won’t be my last, even though this is the last book in the series.
This book centres around the older of the Cunningham brothers, Thomas, a police officer, and the anxiety-affected paramedic, Hannah Pearson. Hannah has had a crush on Thomas for a while, and his handsomeness makes her anxious. When she gets asked out on a date, she spirals.
Hannah’s anxiety is written authentically, since the author also suffers from social anxiety. I appreciate Alice writing Hannah’s character from her own experience.
I am pleased that Thomas and Hannah managed to have their date before their lives were disrupted after witnessing a shooting related to a case Thomas is investigating, because it paved the way for them to become a fake engaged couple and forced them into proximity.
It is during this time that Thomas becomes more aware of Hannah’s level of anxiety, and he finds ways that help her feel comfortable dealing with the situation they find themselves in.
It’s beautiful to read about two people discovering one another in both mind and body. Thomas is so patient to allow Hannah the time to feel secure and confident with intimacy.
There were moments in the book that had me laughing out loud. One such moment was when Ron, the owner of the cottage that Thomas and Hannah are staying in, mentions ‘Those darn coyotes.’ I won't divulge what it's referring to; you will just have to read this book to find out, but it had me in a fit of laughter.
I can’t tell you how much I love this book. It gave me true experiences, great plot, intrigue and laugh-out-loud moments. I look forward to future tales from Alice because I am sure they will be enjoyable.
I adored this book. I found myself thinking about the story as I went about my day to day life. Throughout the days I was reading it, I felt so excited to return to it. Alice’s writing has a way of staying with you and completely captivating you.
Hannah and Thomas have a love story that is incredibly easy to fall in love with, one filled with warmth, gentleness, and sincerity. Thomas is such a gentle presence, and it’s truly beautiful how Alice wrote their relationship: the natural back and forth between them, and the gradual way trust and emotional safety are built. They feel like a perfect match, something that’s demonstrated in such a heartfelt way from the very beginning, especially when Thomas takes the time to get to know Hannah through texts, hoping to make things easier for her with her anxiety.
I especially loved the scene where they slept next to each other for the first time, as well as Hannah admitting she had never cuddled before. That moment was incredibly endearing, particularly because of how safe she felt with Thomas in order to share that.
I also thought the world building, along with the relationships and interactions with the secondary characters, felt very rich and compelling.
This book felt incredibly healing to read. I think it’s deeply comforting, especially for people who consider themselves “late bloomers” or who experience anxiety. These aspects of the story were handled with great sensitivity.
Thank you infinitely for writing such a beautiful story, Alice. I felt deeply seen and understood while reading, as I could relate to and connect with Hannah and her experiences very much.

“He owns my body. He’s the only one who has ever touched me like this, made me feel this way.”
*I will preface this in saying that I was very kindly given the opportunity to read this book as an ARC, however, this review is completely my own thoughts and feelings :)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶🌶
"Just like that, let me in, baby" I just about died with this 🥵
I have been anticipating this book for a good while, and can very happily say that I enjoyed it quite a bit! Since I have been following the authors little sneak peeks of this book, some of the situations I knew about, but then I was constantly pleasantly surprised in that they kept turning out to be different than what I was expecting.
The storyline itself was very gripping, and had me hooked right from the start. In my opinion, there is definitely more drama in this one than previous books just because the nature of Thomas' job and what comes with it, but it was still not too crazy in suspense. Just enough to get your curiosity peaked and heart racing a bit, but not enough for you to need a break because you can't handle the intensity.
As expected, the steam was sublime 🥵 and i absolutely salivated over the dynamic between Hannah and Thomas. We love a man that does everything in his ability to make his woman feel good, and we love mature and open communication between partners too.
I found a lot of myself in Hannah, in ways that even in real life it is hard to explain to people, so seeing how she was represented spoke to me in a way that made my own thoughts and feelings feel validated.
Over all, I really enjoyed this book! The only reason I'm giving it 4⭐️ is because I found that Hannah was a little too self sabotaging, but that was it. Loved this book 🩵
* Plus size Paramedic fmc * Plus size Police officer mmc * Fmc has anxiety * She fell first, he fell harder * Virgin fmc * Cinnamon roll mmc (with lucky superhero boxers) * Funny animals and protective dog * 1st person dual pov * Spicy 🌶️
I was so fortunate to receive this book as an ARC reader, but this is my 100% honest opinion about the book.
This story follows our FMC Hannah, who’s a paramedic and our MMC Thomas who’s a police officer. Hannah has always had a thing for Thomas, but since he is older and she struggles with social anxiety, she never had to courage to approach him. They end up together at a diner after a rough shift where they both were on scene. This is where Thomas really sees Hannah for the first time. With some interferences from family members(one in particular), Thomas ends up asking Hannah if she wants to go with him to the Ivy Days, specifically the street dance. Things happen, and you’ll need to read the book to get the rest! Such a sweet story! Great representation of a FMC with anxiety. You really feel connected to her and her point of view, I felt really seen in this book. Though there were times when I would get a little annoyed with Hannah it is quickly explained from her pov so you get why she’s reacting the way she does. AND Thomas is the cutest! He’s all in from the start and is sooooo good to and for Hannah!
This was my first book by Alice Daniels and even though it is possible to read this as a stand alone, I would recommend reading the first books as well. There were times where I were a tad bit confused, but nothing bad. I enjoyed the book and the writing! Love the dual pov and often quick switches between pov’s, so you really get both sides in situations.
ARC REVIEW Thomas and Hannah were absolutely perfect together. Thomas was loving, patient, and deeply supportive—especially when it came to Hannah’s anxiety. He understood exactly what she needed and showed up for her in every way that mattered. Thomas Cunningham is a police officer working a drug trafficking case, while Hannah Pearson is an EMT who struggles with severe social and general anxiety. When they witness a shooting connected to the case during their very first date, everything changes. For their safety, they’re sent to a remote farm hours away from home while the FBI tracks down the leader of the drug ring—after Thomas impulsively claims that Hannah is actually his fiancée. The forced proximity on the farm, combined with their undeniable feelings for each other, quickly turns up the heat. I loved this setting because it gave them the space to truly get to know one another while pretending to be a couple for their hosts. Their relationship developed naturally, with quiet moments, shared routines, and growing trust. One of my favorite aspects of this story was the open communication Thomas made sure to maintain with Hannah. He knew she tended to overthink, so he was intentional about being clear, reassuring, and emotionally present—never leaving room for doubt. That level of care was incredibly refreshing to read. I also loved Thomas’s family and the strong bond they share. It’s something I consistently enjoy about this series. They accepted Hannah almost immediately, making her feel safe and welcomed—and Gramps continues to be the ultimate matchmaker. This book was tender, romantic, and comforting, with just the right amount of suspense woven in. A truly heartwarming read.
I was given an ARC for an honest review. I loved this book so much!

Thomas and Hannah cross paths a lot because of their careers. Once Thomas starts to get to know Hannah, he can't stop thinking about her.
Because of some instances, Thomas and Hannah end up in a safe house. Thomas lies about being engaged to Hannah because he wants to protect her.

I found the story interesting and fun. I felt like I was reading about myself in some of the parts with Hannah and her anxiety. Some people don't realize that some of us DO get anxiety this bad. I feel so happy to be seen.
I absolutely love Thomas. He was so sweet and understanding with Hannah. I loved that he never made her feel useless and small because of her insecurities.
I think the drug trafficking story was scary because this is something that can, and does happen. It is an epidemic that needs to be talked about.
I also love Fletcher. I am super excited to see his story in the next series. Though I am so sad that this is the last Ivy Ridge book. I love that everyone got their happy ending.

This was the perfect ending to this series!! I’m so happy I stumbled across Alice and her books a couple of months ago! She has 3 others that I haven’t read yet, but I’ll get to eventually. And I’m already so excited about her next series!!
Thomas and Hannah were perfect. I loved how easily they fit together. Even though they were sent to a safe house and there was a lot happening that was stressful, they were able to really build a solid foundation while they were away. And they were able to sort of unplug from the situation (not fully of course because it was a stressful situation!!) and get to know each other and have a little bit of fun! I loved that they got close with Ron and Dottie! And Arson was such a sweet addition, I loved seeing him and Thomas in the other books and seeing them here and seeing how quickly he bonded with Hannah!!! Made my heart happy!
I love how Hannah’s anxiety was written and how thoughtful and caring Thomas was with her. Even before he knew what she was dealing with he could sense something. And seeing her be able to feel comfortable enough to open up to him was exactly what she needed. I know that some of Hannah’s anxiety was based on the author’s real experiences, and I myself have experienced things just like Hannah has, it just felt like such an authentic experience to read about.
I loved this series, the entire Cunningham family and their people have a special place in my heart!
Thanks to Alice Daniels for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
