Frost is the goddess of winter. Her job is simple; put the world to sleep so mankind can wake to hope and rebirth come spring. But as the world slowly falls to ruin, and destruction cracks the world apart threatening its end, Frost decides to take action. This world must come to an end.
Bloom is the goddess of spring. She spreads happiness as she calls sunshine and plants seeds, but when she wakes up being dragged through the snow toward an icy palace on an arctic mountain, she realizes spring may not come. Forced to be a prisoner while Frost delays spring, Bloom wonders just how she can escape the dark castle and the woman who wants to see mankind meet its end.
As Frost slowly thaws, can Bloom deny her logic and her passion?
The way I gagged over the idea of a female Jack Frost!!!!! Like how is that not perfect? Can you not just picture the fits!!! Anyways can I call this an Instalove? I mean they fought it and denied it but they basically had each other at “hello”. I loved how vividly the world was painted and the social commentary on the harm human continue to do to this planet and assume there won’t be consequences. As always the writing was prosaic, that characters intriguing, and the romance was beautiful. If you haven’t read any of her other fantasy stories I highly recommend giving The Impastusae Witch a try it’s a standalone fantasy work that has a little more meat to it and will be the perfect sample before you dive into her fantasy series.
The goddess of winter, Frost, is determined to start the earth anew. Bloom, the goddess of Spring, just wants to follow routine. Winter's Spring, a fast-paced, poetic, sapphic fantasy follows what happens on a mythological level when humanity's atrocities reach the point of no return. A short but beautifully written tale between two goddesses and their desires to help the creatures of the earth. The spice? Absolutely swinging-my-feet delicious. I can't praise this short tale enough. This is the third story I've read by author S.J. Stewart and I can't even wait to read more by her!!
