Olivia found herself navigating the twists and turns of her new life in the capital after her engagement was called off and she was chased from her childhood home. After everything that she’d endured, she finally opened her own magic jewelry shop! Customers raved about her skill as an artificer and her sincerity with clients, which meant business was thriving and customers kept coming. But one day, out of the blue, she receives a letter from her adoptive father containing an invitation to the wedding between her ex-fiancé and adoptive sister! What’s even more ominous is that declining the invitation is apparently not an option. As she’s feeling down, Elliot reaches out a helping hand. With the support of her friends—outraged on her behalf—she quietly starts preparing to attend the dreaded wedding.
You get the drama. But I had to fight my way to finish up this book. Had I not had another book I knew was good in a series I was already reading this is the kind of book that puts me into reading slumps.
If your into it your into it. There's some cross POV. Fighting POV's Scene Repetition. Just not awful. Really isn't just no moment of grace. No grand connection to her craft. She writes more smoothly about the food she's eating and her boyfriend then the jewels. She writes clothes really well and I think if she talked about clothes instead of a jewelery store that would have been a better write for the author.
It was dumber than I expected. The plot by the viscount and her uncle, Elliot’s true identity, her sister….it was just unbelievably ridiculous on so many levels. Bank card fraud, really? And Elliot isn’t recognizable because he’s wearing tinted glasses? The cartoonish villains…🤦🏻♀️ her irritating running away and inability to cope with any unexpected situation was also irritating. It was like she literally could not understand what happened at all.
It should have wrapped up here, but his father made a cryptic comment so there’s obviously more trouble in a third volume. I am unlikely to continue.

An entertaining, sweet and quick read. A tad predictable, but the characters were enjoyable enough, and it fitted expectations, so still enjoyed the read. Plot was a bit high paced, and things went rather smoothly, but since I was not looking for romantic drama that was fine by me. So, yeah, solid popcorn read.
