I kept seeing reviews and talk about the Snow Valley books but hadn't read any until this one. I have to say I was hooked by the first couple paragraphs and really want to see what characters from this are in the other Snow Valley books.
I loved the way Cami Checketts showed the character's dreams and how they worked towards those goals that would help them achieve their dreams. Yet sometimes even through hard work and dedication, dreams aren't always fulfilled, or can be altered due to life or new realizations. Very well done!
The romance was sweet and swoony. Kazlyn and Ty have great chemistry and had me laughing throughout the book. They were great "real" characters who were easy to connect to and cheer for. I especially loved all of Ty's great lines during the beginning of their relationship. Kazlyn could definitely keep up with his wit!
I enjoyed the little snippets of back stories we got about them and the way their lives were shaped through those experiences. That's really how life is for everyone, the choices we make and the experiences that come all mold and shape us into the person we are, and it's an ever changing and growing process.
If you're a fan of this author I think you'll really enjoy this read. If you've never read any of her works I hope you take a chance and find yourself pleasantly surprised.
Content: swoony kisses, an attempted fist fight, an attempted rape(nothing happens and the author keeps it very mild and non graphic). Overall I would say it's a clean read. I'd recommend it for older YA and up.
I received a free copy from the author and no review was required, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a part of the Christmas in Snow Valley set. I was really drawn in by this story for a few reasons: the first part of it takes place in my hometown, it's a clean romance, and it involves a basketball player.
Kazlyn is a very serious student, intent on maintaining her college funding. She literally runs into Tyrese, a college basketball star, on campus and the sparks start to fly. He wants her to come to watch him play, but she's not sure she can sacrifice the time to do so.
When Ty finds himself in a low place, Kazlyn has the power to save him--if she can make the time.
I like how friendly Ty is. He has every reason to be a conceited jerk, yet he seems to really think about people and care for them. Kazlyn is very uptight, with good reason, yet I loved to see her soften up a bit. They were great characters! I love how protective Kaz's brothers are--that was a fun part of the story.
Snow Valley is a magical place where anything can happen...and it does.
*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*
This is my first Snow Valley Romance book and I enjoyed this sweet, clean romance.
Kazlyn meets Tyrese when she literally ran into him while trying to get to one of her classes. Tyrese is the star of the basketball team, but Kazlyn's privately funded scholarship requires her GPA to be above a 3.8 so with studying and her job she doesn't have much time for socializing. Tyrese is intrigued with her because she isn't fawning (or falling) all over him like most of the girls at college, and he talks her into checking out one of the basketball games. While away for the Christmas break Tyrese is injured in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. Is this the end of his plans to play basketball after college?
I loved how these two characters got along? Teasing and joking from the start. I liked that Tyrese was so down to earth when he could have been full of himself because of how he's treated being one of the stars of the basketball team. I didn't care for one of Kazlyn's brother Luke--he took the big brother act too seriously and didn't treat Tyrese like he should have. Tyrese was a lot more gracious and forgiving than I was about how he was treated, and when he got too rough in the game and caused Tyrese's injury I was MAD.
All in all I liked this story and will read more of the Snow Valley romances to find out the other character's stories.
I absolutely loved Full Court Devotion! It sucked me in from the very beginning and I did not want to put it down. I was cursing that dreaded thing called work because it was getting in the way of my reading time. ;)
Kazlyn and Ty were amazing! I loved their banter and their chemistry. I had one of those goofy smiles on my face pretty much the whole time I was reading. I found myself wanting more by the time the book ended. Seriously adorable!
I read this as part of the Christmas in Snow Valley anthology. I thought Tyrese and Kazlyn had a fun relationship, I enjoyed their banter. They had fun chemistry and while their relationship moved a little fast, it was a lot fun. Cute story!
Full Court Devotion is another great book in the Christmas in Snow Valley anthology. The two main characters are so cute, and I loved watching the charismatic Ty win Kazlyn over. It is a sweet Christmas romance that will leave you feeling happy.
1/10/18 - I forgot I had read this one but figured reading it again wasn't a bad thing. Still cute, nothing amazing and it reminded me a ton of PrincessPrincess - same kind of story line.....and just noticing, is he holding a wrapped golf club on the front cover? I have no idea how that matches the book...at all.
12/17/14- Thought it was just cute. I actually didn't think the needed to be in there. And I But...cute and quick.["br"]>["br"]>
The thing about reading anthologies I'd that you get some good and you get some bad. Unfortunately, Full Court Devotion was the latter.
The first thing that really annoyed me was the insta-love. Kazlyn runs into Ty (literally), and the next thing you know, he's following her and trying to chat her up. I'm sorry, but that is just plain creepy. No matter how cute a guy is, if he started following me and showing up outside my class after I bumped into him, I would be seriously freaked out. But Kazlyn is all doe-eyed and feels flattered that such a popular guy is showing interest in her. Cue eye roll.
Then there was the overdose of action. The 100 page novella not only had romance, it had the end of the college semester, basketball games, an assault, a fight between Kazlyn's overprotective brothers and Ty, an injury and a massive change of career plans. So much was going on that Christmas was barely a passing reference.
You would think that assaults and injuries that resulted in career changes would have brought out more severe reactions from the characters, but even that wasn't realistic. I didn't even find the cover and title appealing.
What I did like was how easy to read the story was. I finished most of it in a couple of hours. I also liked how the characters from the other Christmas in Snow Valley made short appearances in the story. It would have been nice if their appearances weren't so fleeting. Oh, and I like the name Kazlyn.
What I liked: 1) How clean it was. What a sweet and wholesome story about two people of faith. There's no cheating, no ow/om drama, just the MCs getting to know each other without the physical intimacy that so easily confuses. 2) Ty. He's such a good guy. 3) Kazlyn. Despite her crazy name, she has her head on straight. She's hardworking, loyal, and sticks to her beliefs and values. 4) Seeing the MCs from previous stories. That was fun. 5) The dual povs. 6) The .
What I didn't like: 1) While I appreciate how the author dealt with Ty's storyline, the format of the short story left a lot to be desired. I love that she didn't draw that part of the story out, but it did seem a little rushed to me. Other than that, three stars is really the highest rating I've ever given a short since characters and plot really take time to develop. This was a really nice short story. :)
Kazlyn is too busy with school to have time for romance in her life; but when she literally runs into Tyrese, the start of the college basketball team, his charm and smile might just change her mind. She makes a trip back home for Christmas break only for the surprise of a lifetime when Tyrese shows up in her small hometown. An accident changes Tyrese's life forever- will Kayzlyn stay by his side?
This short novel is part of a collection of shorts stories from several different authors that all involve the same small town around Christmas time. The stories are all separate yet have little facts that overlap and connect the stories in subtle ways.
This is very fact paced, fun hearted story of love, hope and the Christmas spirit. It is a fun light hearted story that you can finish in a few hours.
It is a clean book, free from language, graphic imagery or vulgar content.
This was a fairly quick read. I could have read it in a day if life didn't get in the way ;) Kazlyn met Ty at campus where she literally smacked into him while hurrying to be somewhere. Somehow Ty's charisma got her attention and before she knew it, she was looking forward to seeing him again. They had a good rapport together and was delightfully surprised when they stumbled upon each other during winter break at Kazlyn's hometown. She was there with her family while Ty came with his basketball buddy Jamison. There Ty gets into a major accident while playing against Luke, Kazlyn's brother. When Ty thought that his future was over, a miracle happens and a better opportunity presented itself that was far better than he could have imagined. Needless to say they lived happily ever after. The story was cute. I can sense the chemistry between the two and I'm happy that everything turned out ok for Ty. He seemed like an upstanding son/brother. Despite that, I thought that their love story evolved pretty fast. They didn't get engaged until later in the relationship but the way their "love" progression seemed a bit fast. I also wished there were more time to see how the characters developed. There were a few secondary characters presented in the book but we don't really read more of them. After reading some of the teaser chapters for the upcoming books I know now that some of them get their own book and that is why we don't really get to know them here but when I read a book somehow I get invested in all of the characters and not knowing them, even the basic level is kind of a let down.
Kazlyn is hurrying to get to class to get out of the wind and has just passed some slower moving girls when she slams into the back of a giant of a man. Of course her books go flying, but, instead of being mad or mean the guy helps her collect her belongings! He even walks her to class! She learns his name is Tyrese and he's a basketball player. He decides to meet her after her class and walks her to work taking her heavy bookbag and shielding her as much as he can from the wind. They fall into a rather comfortable routine and meet this way for over a week. They even get to go to dinner and she watches him play. Then the day before she is to leave to go home after finals she's grabbed from behind and a hand goes over her mouth! Thankfully Tyrese sees what's going on and tells the guy to get his hands off his girlfriend. How does Kazlyn react? Will she be grateful to Tyrese? Will they continue to stay in touch over break? Read this great story by Cami Checketts to find out.
I love stories by Cami Checketts, they are always so well written and inspirational! I look forward to every book that I read by her for I know that I will thoroughly enjoy every second of it. I highly recommend these stories to everyone.
"Full Court Devotion" did not let me down when it comes to expectations, it was beautifully written with a new story-line that was excellent. Romance is something that many try to squeeze in when they can, but that's just real life, and "Full Court Devotion" helps to show that love doesn't happen over night.
Full Court Devotion is a contemporary romance by Cami Checketts. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Checketts has provided readers with a well-written, clean romance. This book is appropriate for all ages. Kazlyn and Ty are college students. If I was younger I'd probably have appreciated this story more. Full Court Devotion is book 3 of the Christmas In Snow Valley Series but it can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I love these books set in Snow Valley! Kazlyn is a college student who is almost done with her finals and ready to head home to Snow Valley for the holidays. She's stressed out and runs into Tyrese on campus and he is intrigued by her, partially because she doesn't know who he is (he's kind of a campus celebrity-basketball player). They see each other several times before the break and distract each other from their stresses. He's headed to a friend's house for the Christmas break and guess what? They end up in the same town. It's super cute and a fun read.
Kazlyn is a career minded student giving everything to her studies. Tyrese is a career minded college basketball player giving everything he has to the game. But, it seems, the Lord has other plans. The light shines brightest in the darkness that temporarily threatens them.
Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Happily Ever After. Inspirational. Page-turner. Romantic. Scary. Tear-jerker. Tragic. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.
The story line of this book is that Kazlyn is too busy with her schooling and future plans to enjoy life, however she falls in love with a man who has heartbreak written all over him. Tyrese Hamilton, a college basketball star and major heartthrob, is intrigued when Kazlyn doesn’t pursue him or even seem interested. Ty’s career is in jeopardy, and he needs a miracle and Kazlyn to save him.
Full Court Devotion by Cami Checketts is a really great read that tackles some interesting topics. My favorite? The fact of letting God have His way with our lives and futures, even though they may not end up looking as we envisioned them. A beautifully told story between characters Kazlyn and Tyresse. Sweet and clean. Recommended.
Loved my reading. I wanted just a regular young love romance with a sporty stotyline with extra happenings through in. And this book was a perfect for this Just right kind of love. Off to next book; can't wait to read about Luke's dream & finding love, finally.
This is a sweet story of a college basketball star and the "angel" he falls for. I love the teasing and friendship that grows between them. Watching the interactions with her brothers is pretty funny. I might just have to go find Luke's story next. This charming story is a great conclusion to Cami Checketts' Christmas Romance Collection.
Kazlyn is a persistent student and is only worried about getting her education when she meets Tyrese the star basketball player. She thinks he’s a womanizer, but he gave that up long ago. There is an instant attraction. Read their Christmas story to learn more about their struggles and adventure.
I’m a huge basketball fan and love Utah State so this was super enjoyable for me and I leaned up on the stars. Happy ending and what’s not to love about a tall dark and handsome basketball player?
Ty and Kazlyn are opposites that attract. They meet up through an accident. They blend so well together once they get together. Love the ups and downs throughout this book.
She’s trying to finish college in 2 years, no time for guys or fun. But he’s not taking no for an answer. He gets her and they wind up together even though they go through some Kline changes.
I liked the book as a whole. I was left wondering about a couple of things like whatever happened to the person that grabbed her before she left for winter break? What happened with his injury?, why wasn't his family there when he proposed?
