When impossible crimes meet improbable thieves, it takes more than good breeding to solve the case.
Dog trainer Bea Whitman thought Charleston's biggest crime problem was tourists feeding seagulls. Then a series of "impossible" thefts rocks the historic district—jewelry vanishing from locked cases, antiques disappearing from alarmed shops, all without a trace of human evidence.
The police are stumped. The shop owners are furious. And Bea's French Bulldog Max keeps sniffing out clues that make absolutely no sense. As the investigation leads to Charleston's quaint animal sanctuary, Bea begins to suspect there's some serious monkey business going on—and this case is about to go completely bananas.
Now Bea and her veterinarian fiancé must catch the real masterminds before this whole case swings out of control.
With Max proving that sometimes the best detectives really do have cold noses, can Bea solve Charleston's most ridiculous crime spree before the city becomes the laughingstock of the entire Southeast?
Perfect for fans of clever canines, quirky mysteries, and crimes so bizarre they could only happen in a cozy!
Monkey business afoot! Strange robberies are occurring in Charleston and no one can figure out how the thieves are getting in and out. I love the way this author formulates these mysteries. I'm always sure that I've figured out whodunit until a last clue or two arrives and I was wrong every single time. I love it!
This mystery followed Bea and her dogs as they investigated a series of bizarre, seemingly impossible thefts tied to some wild “monkey business” in Charleston. The plot felt slow at times, but, overall, this mystery was clever and fun, with plenty of twists!
