Ms. Voight was a native New Englander and lived in Hamden, Connecticut. She wrote many books for boys and girls, both fiction and non-fiction. Several of her books are set in the New England locale she loved so much.
This book was great! I enjoyed A's reading of it very much, even though we were all a bit silly listening after our busy, not-enough-sleep weekend. I wouldn't have thought I'd enjoy a 50 year old, non-fiction, black and white (with a little blue) hand drawn pictures...but I did! It had great interesting facts about minks, and also told the story of the behaviors of minks as well as their interactions with each other. The little girl and boy in the book were neat, and I love that in 1965 the boy AND girl were wearing shorts for their outdoor exploration. I think someone gave this to C when it was being discarded from her school library a few years ago, and I'm so glad they did. One of A's favorite books (she's written her name in it 7 or 8 times!), and I am glad we got to read it tonight.
