3 1/2 stars Really very slice of life but a few more exciting scenes then appear in the first volume. I like this more as the story continues to progress in a day to day manner.

The book starts with a Prologue that isn’t, I really wish authors wouldn’t do this.
Reading this book was a bit weird because not a lot happens, but it is still an enjoyable read. To be fair the first half of the book has a bit of political intrigue and action, but overall it was really a domestic drama, without the drama.

If possible I would have given 3.5 stars.

I quite like this. I like how, if you glanced at it, you might think of this as a "Harem" story, but Ezio clearly and actively is just building a found family. He's a good dad-type dude. I'm positive this isn't for everyone but it's a lovely, relaxing read.

This one definitely took me a bit longer than volume 1. i've come to realize this is not one of those series where you can read them relatively in a row. there's really not a whole lot going on here and needs to be broken up more.

Essentially this book can be broken into two main stories. the first one is The sister of the guard we met from the first book (Diana) comes to live with our MC and he reforges a sword to help his guard buddy become the head of the family.

part 2 is about an elf who comes to have him reconstruct a mythril sword for her clan.

That's essentially all that really happens in this book. As you can guess, it's not very plot heavy as per usual.

Still though, i really like the dwarf girl and MC are both good. Diana's fine and Samya (the beast girl) isn't...bad, she's probably just my least favorite.

This one still has the problems from the first book in terms of talking about hunting and preparing the meat. its like bro. i came to read a book about blacksmithing, not hunting. stop talking about it.
I wouldn't make such a big deal about it if it weren't so prevalent, but here we are.

The first and second book both did this thing where they have epilogues where people in the far future talk about Eizo in the past tense like this is 100's of years later and he's dead. I get they're trying to get across that he's a legend or something, but we only needed one of these. we don't need one every book.

Overall, i still had fun with this one, but i learned i definitely need to spread these out a bit more as 2 in a relatively quick succession might be too much for this. As it is though, still, not bad and i WILL read volume 3. Just...maybe not as quickly.

3.5 out of 5 rounded up to a 4.

Okay, so after the first book, I kind of knew what to expect going into this book. We continue to see our protagonist grow his family (*cough cough* Harem) and take on the various tasks people bring to him. Family heirloom? Sure, let's fix/make that. Elven sword made of mithril? Sure. (and holy heck, does the author go in depth with the creation of those)
Now, it does all help to explain why the protagonist is in the spot he is, and why everything he does is enhanced, even beyond his cheat skills. We also get to hear how mithril differs from other metal, and honestly, I appreciated a real world take on it, rather than most other fantasy stories just treating it as a better metal, etc. In this book, he describes how it sounds when struck, how it feels to shape, how it cools faster than other metal. Actually gives it a physical reason why it is a superior metal.
We also get introduced to an elf, who I am sure eventually joins the 'family'.
Despite the summery coming across like this book would have a lot of political stuff in it, it really didn't. I would say it actually had the right amount. Not too much to bog down the story, but enough to keep things evolving and interesting.
We also get to see the evolution of the 'family' and how the relationships work in this world. Yep, harem territory, here we come. *insert an eye roll or rubbing hands together, depending on your tastes*
So yeah, in the end, this was a pretty good book. Nothing too new, which can be nice sometimes. I am curious as to how things evolve in the next book, and what new person shows up at the forge looking for a new weapon and perhaps a 'family' to join. Still, worth reading, and this is becoming one of the more favorite Isekais I have read.

Athough this author is extremely respectful towards the Gods and traditions of Japan, he treats the main character Eizo like a senior citizen (elderly), although, Eizo was in his 40's in his previous life and is around 30's in this other world. Having respect for older people in Japan is supposed to be known world wide. So I do not know why this author treats main character in this way. What is this author a minor?
Action is slow. Main character Eizo has a passive-harem like story. Passive in the sense that he does not yet get physically involved with his retinue-harem. Because author treats Eizo like an ancient person, I doubt that Eizo will ever be involved with the girls of his retinue.
The third volume will be first published in English, tomorrow, July 20th. 2022. The 4th. volume was first published in Japan on May 8th. 2021. So although this story is slow moving, it at least has 4 volumes. Other than improving on the weapons Eizo makes as a Blacksmith, this story is not going anywhere.

Okay tale

Fantasy alternate universe magic light novel
The author strikes me as someone who's very young. MC Eizo saves Marius, but after promising secrecy, proceed to discuss the matter in Camilo's office in his busy store. Uh, no, keeping a secret means not talking about it, and especially not where one could be overheard. Much on how MC feels he's a fake because his ski!!s were given, not earned, and more snippets of how famous Eizo will become. Part of the fun of a good story is the journey; and we keep getting snippets of future veneration of how a we set he MC becomes, but we're not there yet. Author won his web writing contest, but keeps hitting us with spoilers.
Supposedly Eizo will become romantic with one (all three) of three women who are all smitten but don't want to be too forward. This volume is very platonic. I want to like it, and once we're in the story it's okay, but instead of foreshadows we get previews of the ending. Spoils the journey.

A very well done sequel to a very good first entry in a light novel series. This one has a handful of much mire exciting and fun scenes than the first as the first was a LOT of set up bit at the same time this is a SLICE OF LIFE series meaning you're not going to get 1000 page epicly told tales with multiple side plots and tons of characters. So if that is what you're looking for this is not the series for you. I had a lot of fun with this second book although and I NEVER THOUGHT I'd be saying this...I kind of found myself WANTING just a TINY bit of romance but it's not here even though the MC is surrounded by 3 beautiful woman (ones even a beast folk for those that are into that sort of thing...I don't judge) but instead it's more of a found family situation. All that said I really enjoyed the time I spent here and am already onto the 3rd.

So far, this series is entertaining enough. I only have a surface knowledge of smithing, so I am not hung up on the depictions of crafting as others seem to be. I do find the MC off-putting in general, at least so far. The running joke is that everyone assumes that Eizo is surrounded by a harem of wives, but in fact he seemingly has no libido. All the ladies of his “family” love him, some have even communicated this, but he has yet to reciprocate anything. I am not really into stories about saints, so hopefully something changes soon. He may consider himself a “geezer” (despite internally being only 40), but things don’t dry up that fast.

More slice if life fun

No big battles no huge world Ending events. Yet. Still just a need story about a humble yet Gifted gifted blacksmith plying his trade, and Without knowing it, changing the lives of those around him and the world. Kind of fun relaxing I like watching and learning with the MC. He has a mini harem but it's all just eye candy since he doesn't really do anything with them except makes teach them his skills And take care of them. Fun over all. I certainly enjoy it will look forward to more.

Audio: 5 Stars

Story: Same issues as the first one, the overall story is good but I do not approve of treating females like items. Also I HATE people that impose their issues into others and I don't care much about MC's that are floor mats that just let people use them. Also didn't the MC asked to be alone??? The dialog between them is so LAME too. Really, if it wasn't because of the overall plot being interesting I would drop. Though I would love if they kill off the Harem. Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!

Book 2 does not disappoint.

I was a big fan of the first book, and I'm always a little worried when the sequel comes out. I was pleased to get the second book and it was very enjoyable. I can now look forward to a third book, hopefully.
I like the characters. I have to admit that I deducted a star because sometimes the blacksmithing seems a little bit tedious, but there's enough going on that overall I really enjoyed the book.

Eizo's life sure has changed, he is seen as a great blacksmith in this life. As he returns to his cabin in the black forest he runs into a group attacking a caravan. After rescuing the caravan they are joined by yet another female partner. They learn who she is and that she was always meant to come to the cabin to hide. Now Eizo is involved in an inheritance dispute between nobles. Can he really help them.

More enjoyable than the first volume. The first half had some nice political intrigue. The second wasn't as great, but reforging the mithril sword made for a nice relaxing story. Biggest annoyance was the constant alertness for bandits going to and from the city. Got old quick as there were never any bandits.

Good read. Would reccomend.

Personal opinion...not going to exalt something that may not fit peoples personal tastes. So I suggest you read it yourself and find out. Its only a few bucks, so even if it isnt your cup of tea, you aren't out of anything other than a handful of dollars.

A refreshing change

Its more of a slower pace than most, but its smooth and refreshing. With just enough action to still get your blood up a bit. Really enjoying this series and look forward to where it goes. Specially with how book one started. Do wish there was a email for the either though. There was a bit of a typo near the beginning of the book with names.

I enjoyed this addition to the series. I think it's funny and definitely predictable in terms of the 'harem' trope. But, that doesn't detract too much. I am not a fan of his consistent 'geezer' talk, like how he mentions that he is one and just seems stuck on that. I know he is older than his form, but it seems excessive and takes away from the story.

A fun light-hearted story continues

This is a good story in my opinion the characters are really relatable and the story and world building is good. Relaxing slice of Life story with action and adventure.

The legend of the blacksmith grows.

Eizo has several more adventures as he helps old friends, makes new friends, and forges many new weapons. Including making a replacement for an heirloom sword, and restoring a mithral sword.

The first half of the book was more interesting, but the second half had better technical accuracy. At long last he seems to have stopped casting swords and started forging them properly. Let’s leave his terrible cast-iron swords in the past.

Worthless

No romance and no sex. No build up. Just nothing. There is no reason to write a harem novel with no sex in it. These novels are a waste of time. What a rip off considering the price tag. I'm out. I won't be reading further.

I’ve enjoyed reading this series so far. But it’s getting boring. You can only read so much about blacksmithing. That he hasn’t made any moves on the girl’s isn’t a surprise. I’m going to give it 1 more chance and if more of the same thing then I’m done

Waste of time. After first book there was a hope that there would be some action in the second one, but didn't come true. Extremely slow pace without any action..
