Edited by Jenifer Papararo, Sarah Nesbitt, and Nasrin Himada, with the assistance of Luther Konadu.
This publication is the second in a series of readers proposed as quick compilations, and archival gestures that capture the exhibition and publication as part of the research process and not its end goal. This Plug In Edition is linked to the exhibition Days of Reading: beyond this state of affairs curated by Sarah Nesbitt and Jenifer Papararo and presented at Plug In ICA in the fall of 2018. The exhibition was structured around artists using language as their medium.
Exhibition Notes: Days of Reading: beyond this state of affairs not only acts as documentation of the associated exhibition but also provides supplementary insight into the artists’ work and process. This reader features an extended curatorial essay by Nesbitt and Papararo; a fold-out artist insert of Shannon Bool’s All Saints Bench #4; a transcribed panel discussion from Sameer Farooq, Jared Stanley & Jeanne Randolph on the fictive aspects of their work; a text excerpt from Jeanne Randolph’s La Betty; a discussion between Raven Chacon, Laura Ortman & Suzanne Kite stemming from Chacon’s new work For Zitkála-Šá, and over 30 colour images documenting the complete exhibition.
