Moses of the Colter

Rate this book
In the shadow of the Tennessee mountains, a boy is pulled from the icy waters of the Colter River. Alone and with no memory of his past, he is taken to the Grace House Orphanage and given the name Moses. After being adopted by a wealthy plantation owner, Moses discovers his new family is not what he hoped for. Feeling more like a nuisance than a son, Moses is left to seek companionship among the plantation workers and his loyal friend, Drew Harlan.

As Moses grows up, tension with his family escalates. When an accidental killing forces seventeen-year-old Moses to flee, he seeks refuge with a gang of outlaws led by the notorious Smiling Jack Davis.

To escape his troubled past, Moses Colter searches for redemption in a world as rugged as the frontier itself. Alongside Drew and a determined band of companions, Moses forges a path toward freedom for the men and women he left behind. With enemies closing in and loyalties tested, Moses must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice for a chance at a new beginning.

Inspired by the Biblical account of the Exodus.

A unique twist on a western. Well worth the read!

I would not usually consider reading a western, but this book is unconventional and the characters pull you into the story. A split genre that allows this adventure to go beyond the typically western. I can highly recommended this book regardless of your typical reading style. Well done.
