Not as good as the first book. The story meanders a little too much and the author tries to do too much for such a short story.
Had she tied the different stand together better it would have improved the story but it was too disjointed to feel cohesive. The story wasn’t bad but I lost interest a few times while listening to it. Because it was such a short book I felt compelled to finish it. Otherwise, I would have DNF’ed it.

Not as enjoyable as the first novel but it was an okay read.
Finding Harley's character a little random, she's like a reckless, sensitive, busybody, badass. Combined it's a lot. Wish there was more room to listen and hear the other characters - more so Cordi.
Either way it's an easy read that I'll continue to fit in around my other novels. No harm.

I really enjoyed the first book of the series had high hopes for the this book.
It did not disappoint me , but not too enthralling either.
The story is about the Harley and Cordi getting hired to find Doomsday Diary containing lots of secret about the British Novelty.
A Murder happens and the search becomes a murder mystery. The story moves nicely with lots of suspects and adventurers. Maggie is the star of the book with her lovely cakes and authoritative and sharp mind.
Harley does what she does best, breaks into a Club and steals a bracelet and a book. With no sense breaks into a DON's headquarters. Lots of things dont make sense, but what the heck it helps is solving a murder. I must confess around 60% of the book I knew who the culprit was.
There were lots of side stories which were little distracting.
I liked the episode when Harley meets her brother though.
A decent book and fast read.

Exciting plot
This was an engrossing read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The typos (usually a missing word) were a little confusing but still not nearly as distracting as some books where they clearly have no concept of grammar. The tension was riveting, the mystery compelling, and the characters intriguing. I'm so glad I found this series! This is a little more serious (less fluffy) than the average modern cozy murder mystery, but it still skips the blatant gore of a non cozy. The mystery unfolds in layers, allowing your subconscious to notice the clues and solve some of the puzzle (or at least understand it after the reveal). I always love a good story where, even without all of the details, I can make an educated guess yet still be surprised when everything shakes out. I'm looking forward to the next book.

This book would have benefited with a good editor. I found the missing words, and other errors a little distracting.
The storyline itself was unremarkable, and perhaps the ending was finished up a bit to quickly.
There are two reasons for the extra half star in my rating. The first being that I can so relate to Harley's love of cake.
The other reason for the extra half star in the rating is I absolutely loved some of the descriptions. Some of them actually made me laugh out loud, which I rarely do while reading, even when a book blurb assures me that I will.
I could be convinced to read more of this series for those two reasons alone.

I reminded myself I was in polite company and thanked our host before selecting the smallest piece. I nibbled at it, resisting the urge to stuff the whole slice into my mouth at once.

Cole was there, standing close to a redhead - full-figured woman with breasts like airbags and lips that could suck an apple through a hosepipe.
Cordi even made me borrow a pair of her heels to go with it. Although they were a size too large, they still fit reasonably well. They were the same colour as the dress. I tottered across the road like an amateur drag queen.
I could be convinced to read more of this series for those two reasons alone.

After reading the first book, I was a little weary about this one, to be honest. It was an interesting book, with them looking for an old ancient text for a collector. Harley works with Alex throughout the book to solve the murder of the collector while everyone else wants to just sweep it under the rug. We don't really get to see Cole must throughout the book, however, a lot of the story near the end actually revolves around him, in a way.
The store line, actually contained about 3 running at the same time. Chase worked the storylines together nicely and tied it up nicely. It may have been a little too neat, however, it still worked for the book.
Overall, it was a fun book and I will probably read the rest of the series.

Cute little cozy. I started here and it was no problem. Anything I needed to know was explained, but I don't think it would ruin the backtrack to first book either. Harley Hill had a rough childhood and has landed on her feet with Cordi running a finding agency. This is still rather new, but its going well. They are set to work on a case for a book shop owner - find a lost diary of John Dee. It apparently could bring down the government if it got out then and now. Many are looking and some are powerful. The owner is dead and its covered up, but Harley and Cordi don't let that discourage them. There is also some intertwined love life bits. Fun and simple.

I really like the storylines and characters in this series. The first book's plot was a bit transparent, but this book had a decent one.
BUT...I hope the author reads these reviews because I am begging her... PLEASE find a decent editor, or, at the VERY least, a good beta reader, because the terrible grammar, typos and errors, which include using words that don't exist in the English language, (eg. "Instantiated" instead of unsubstantiated) are cringeworthy and GLARING.
I would leave a much higher rating if it was edited properly.

A very enjoyable read with a good cast of characters. I can understand this being a cozy mystery-- It felt really good reading it. I look forward to the "biker chick" persona of Harley her newly discovered brother and her Excop honey and her best friend all figure out life with the friends Aunt Maggie the baker and tough lady of the the group!

This is the second in the series and the first time reading this author. The main character is Harley. who has joined forces with Cordi and they are looking for a diary . Harley is also looking to meet her brother and sisters. They are tackling the local mafia and a murderer to try find what they are looking for. This was very good. A real page turner.

More fun to be had!
I enjoyed reading this second book in the series. Harley Hill is fearless when it comes to solving mysteries. With her colleagues and friends, Cordi, Alex, Cole and now her brother Michael, she has a new family and a new life. A fun read for those who like their mystery cozy.

Need closer proofreading
I started out really enjoying this author although there was some quite "blue" language but not enough to turn my off. The plots in all the books are intriguing however the proofreading is quite lax and I'm sure even younger people would be confused in places. Very good books

Two stars only because the story was sorta fun. The book needs editing. So many errors. Missing words, typos (here rather than hear? Saying it’s 11:00 pm when it’s actually morning? Really?). These issues totally spoil it. Good thing i got it and the next one in the series free. I definitely won’t be paying for any more.

meh. I don't remember when I started reading this and found it on my kindle carousel about 80% read. So, I finished reading it. I didn't remember what it was about, so my finishing it was just an exercise in completion.

Mistake Ridden
I really didn't enjoy this book at all! Sooo many mistakes not only in the grammar but thousands of typos, not to mention the missing words. If that doesn't bother you then please read it but the story is mediocre at best.

So this one didn't work for me like the first one did.
Maybe it was too short? I was looking for more detail and character growth in Harley and the others. I'll admit, I was peeved at the relationship change at the end of the first book and the consequences for book two left me in a permanent scowl whenever he was mentioned.
I liked the concept of the mystery but there were too many moving parts and I had a hard time believing that it would all come together so conveniently.
Glad I gave it a chance, though I probably won't finish the series.

A secret book, past family and some much more
I love how Harley thinks in these stories. She has an amazing eye for detail as she and Cordi along with others piece together the mystery of the murder and secret book. In the end, family means everything.

I did enjoy the mystery, but the book needs a good proof-reading and editing. So many words were missing or the wrong word inserted that I had to mentally fill in the blanks all the way along. This is the worst book for mistakes that I have read in a long time. Also, the ending being a setup for the next book is not my thing. If you want to know the next sentence, read the next book. I'm not that keen on filling in the blanks in a book to start another one right away. Cute characters, quaint English setting - and i do adore English settings, and a plausible mystery kept me going to the end. I feel badly for the author as her work deserves a better end product.

Several strands are woven here and although it's first in a series we find the protagonist has been leading a busy life. She was some sort of criminal and reformed. One man she thought was a fence was in fact an undercover policeman. He also claims to be a Robin Hood stealing stolen items and returning them to their owners. So he won't be a cop for long then.
There is a feud of sorts going on with the lady who is our heroine's partner in a new investigation agency. This lady is divorced from another cop or is it the same cop? The guys are pretty much interchangeable. Our heroine has a lost family to find and she just happens to be meeting them in time to pad out the story with a subplot.
The quest for an antique book occupies the detection part of the story and someone who was on the trail is killed which sparks a murder investigation - until someone decides to hush matters up. Clearly whatever is in this old diary is serious.
The location in London and dialogue are often at odds. English people do not call a mobile phone a cell. A boarding school pupil several decades ago would never have heard the word nerd, which is not generally used in England today. Most seriously we find references to the chief of police. The book has clearly been written by an American so she might have done more research. Genuine police procedure on both sides of the Atlantic would also prevent the detective from doing the breaking and entering at the end, because any evidence he found this way would be tossed out of court - would never get to court.
I liked some of the story as a mystery but not the romance subplot, the family padding or the Mafia connection which was unnecessary and silly. I liked the cat. I would mainly suggest that next time the author should decide what she wants to write and stick to that. She should also read some good police procedurals before writing more crime as amateur sleuth stories do not provide enough accurate information to write good crime.

I got this book as a free read!! This book was hilarious!! It started off with the character talking directly to you. It was funny!! Then she continues to do so. I couldn't put the book down.
