Hanna Hamilton has been fascinated with the Regency era ever since she was a young teen, first discovering historical romance novels by famous authors such as Jane Austen and Lisa Kleypas. She believes that love was just so much more magical back then, more like a fairy tale. She always daydreamed about finding love herself that way, but since that is impossible in the twenty-first century, she decided to write about it instead!
Born in Texas, Hanna Hamilton obtained a degree in Creative Writing and has worked as a literature teacher before becoming a novelist. When she isn’t writing, Hanna likes to explore the countryside with her husband and two children, gaining inspiration from the natural world around her.
So, come on a journey into love, confusion, and redemption all within the Regency era. Hanna hopes that you will enjoy immersing yourself into her novels and that you too will find a love for old-fashioned romance, just as she has.
He is the first time when I'm reading a book by Hanna Hamilton and I do not like any of the two major characters. He is a weak man, and I do not like weak men constantly hiding behind silence. She's a stuck up with snarky remarks and uses any excuse to doubt and think the worst about her husband.
Amazing how the dead control actions from the grave, but Tristan and Verity suffer because of the memory of Cassandra. Her actions, lies and her misguided cousin practically ruin the relationship between their Graces. Reading this book I struggled with Tristan’s coldness and lack of interest in his Duchess. The book lacked spirited dialogue to keep it interesting. Some may find this book to their liking, read it and mak3 your own judgement.
Lady Verity Radcliffe lived in Radcliffe Manor. It had belonged to her father the late Marquess and she now managed what was left of the estate. Lord Tristan Northcott, the Duke of Halewood, arrived at Radcliffe Manor to discuss property lines and discover if they had paperwork and contracts showing the property lines. Due to a very bad storm, he was forced to spend 2 nights at the house with Lady Verity and her aunt. A friend of Verity brought word that the town was talking about the Duke spending the night at Radcliffe Manor. The Duke was getting ready to leave and return home, when Verity caught him and told him he had ruined her good name. He said he would do the only thing that he could which was to marry her as soon as he could get a special license. She agreed to this. Thus began the book that is very enjoyable to read and has lots of trials and tribulations for the couple. Ms. Hamilton has written a very good book and I do recommend that you read it...
I enjoyed this clean story. Duke Tristan and Verity had an unconventional, innocent meeting that led to her reputation being at risk. They were caught in a storm but idle tongues gossiped and caused problems. They married to protect her but Tristan could not let go of his ghosts of the past with his former wife. Verity tried to get close to Tristan but the walls he had built in his mind were too hard to break through. It was not until Verity was in danger that he realised what he really felt for Verity. Would he be in time to save her? Read on and enjoy.
I liked the framework of Verity & Tristan love story. The characters are well developed, and the plot is interesting. I'm not sure that Tristan could have won me over. His character was almost too dark, too, nonverbal. I feel like the ending is abrupt, and though I would have liked to see a more detailed reconciliation, it seemed too long in coming. Even in stories, actions speak louder than words, and Tristan rarely showed enough interest in Verity to make his final comments believable.
Lady Verity finds herself without any help when a neighbor comes to Review land records- & must stay until the storm water subsides. But the Duke was seen & now it’s a marriage that must take place. And he tries to keep his distance but it’s more difficult as time goes on…and one despicable cousin meant to tear them apart.
This book had good characters. Verity was kind and caring, but hurt by the judgment of the Ton. Tristan was cold and withdrawn, even from his closest friend. The book is slow-paced and focuses on the fractured relationship between the two characters and the unresolved issues of his prior marriage.
This book was very entertaining with the different type characters involved. I wasn't sure how the Duke would be a be able to change and convince his wife to stay with him. I love reading clean books and the Extended Epilogues.
A struggle with the past almost causes him to lose his future. The whole book is the struggle but it doesn't give enough of good at the end for balance. It just ends abruptly. It is a good story, just seems unfinished.
Truth is so very important in relationships! As I read this book I hoped for a happy ending for both the Duke and Verity! It kept me thinking and hoping that for both of them. It was a joy to see love happen!
