Finished it
Decent story and well written for the most part. For me though just 3 stars. The MC seemed to lack much agency and was pretty subservient to what he thought was his betters. The harem part got confusing because while he was going to have many women, the princess was going to have many men. The MC was only going to be a consort which means he would have to share her with other men as well as allow her to become pregnant from them. As for the story, it stared to come across as a old bond movie where the villain had taken the damsel but did nothing but hold her so the hero could save her. By the 80% mark, I was almost rooting for the antagonist to kill the MC and take his prize. It was only dues ex that saved the day, not the MC. The use of dues ex ruined it for me because once it is used, the MC might as well be a rock. Even a rock could rule the world as long as dues ex is used.

This second book in the series really satisfied. There is plenty of action, coupled with some intense sex scenes, and it hit the spot.
The MC returns to the city with the princess and priestess, showing their findings of the insect creatures being present in the mountains just as they had claimed. This sets off a firestorm with the elves. Though not as much as the princess indicating that the MC partially transformed into a dragon, thus putting to rest whether or not he has dragon blood in him. Now they have to deal with political intrigue and backstabbing.
The MC effectively adds two to his harem in this book. The priestess was already his lover, but he now has his first concubine, gifted by the princess to show she has chosen him as consort. And the princess herself has given the indication she has chosen him. It all fits with the existing worldbuilding quite nicely.
I very much look forward to book 3. I just wish each book was a little longer.

An exciting fantasy adventure!!!
A wonderful adventure in a realm of magic,curses and very unique monsters!!! As always the world building is fantastic, as is the character development!!! I personally would really enjoy more information about the Mantis!!!
