"Young Blood" is Book 2 of the Doctor Tess series. It's 140 pages (35,000 words). Book 1 is a short story called "Sudden Death" and Book 3 is "Honeymoon Roadkill" (a novella of 109 pages). Each book can be read on its own.
Book 2 was better than book one and book three will be even better!
I was initially disappointed after reading book one and almost didn't read book two. However, after finding out that book one, Sudden Death, was this author's first publication, a short story leading into a trilogy, I say this author, Pat Wilpenter, has a great first trilogy and will just continue to get better and better! In a year or two, he will be an author leading his way to the top of the game with more terrific books! I look forward to reading them! I did not give this book five stars because I didn't feel that the book was very well developed. Much of it seemed superficial - without depth. Had this been a very well-know best-seller author, I would have given it two stars. However, this author is new. For his second book ever written, it's pretty good. I highly doubt that were I to try writing, my first few books would be perfect, either! That being said, I think this is an author to watch out for. He is getting better and better with every book!

I love Dr Tess And Dr Jayson. Most times when we are dealing with unsolved medical problems we rely on medical professionals and God. Many of us have family members who have to deal with Dementia and Alzheimer. It devastating for the person and their family members. To be able to help them would be an amazing blessing. What medical thriller will Dr Tess and Dr Jayson get involved in next.
I'm not sure why I didn't care for this book, but I didn't. Maybe because it was so superficial. There really wasn't a whole lot of character development, nor plot either, and the ending was too "pat".
