Full disclosure - I started this book already a raving fan of John Bender, AKA Papa (my husband’s grandfather). 😊 I have heard about the family’s time in Brazil, but I didn’t realize the extend of his involvement in missions around the world. 🤯 I’m so encouraged by how he used his gifts and skills to impact the world for Jesus in practical ways. Thankful for his servant’s heart, and that my kids are a part of his legacy. ♥️ I’m also proud of my mother in law for all of the effort that she put into documenting his life. This book is a family treasure. ☺️

I potentially am a tad biased, but I loved this book.

A man of God, trying his best to live for God. Leaving a legacy for those who follow after him.

A wonderful piece of family history and learning more about my husband's grandfather. John Bender loves the Lord and reading more about his life, especially on the mission field, encouraged me greatly in my own walk with Jesus. What a blessing it is to know such an incredible man! Praise God!

It was a pleasure to read this account of my Uncle John Bender's life of service. It gave me a clearer understanding of his commitment to following God's calling to share his talents and skills to furthering the work of missionaries in South America. I remember well when the family moved to Brazil, thinking how exciting that would be. Aunt Liz was also committed to this life of service and I really admire her strength.
