She’s off men. He’s off sex. But when sparks ignite, self-control doesn’t stand a chance.

Celia

I never planned to come back to Oakwhite Bay. Certainly not separated, broke, and dragging a trailer of regrets. Moving into a fixer-upper with my six-year-old daughter in tow, I’m hoping for a fresh start and a plan for our future.

I’m not even officially divorced, so romance is totally out of the question. Which means I definitely shouldn’t be flirting with the neighbor I once babysat, who’s now a gorgeous yoga instructor with a vow of celibacy. But every heated glance, every kindness makes it harder to remember why it’s safer to stay away.

I need to be smart. I need to protect my heart. So then why am I finding it impossible to resist him?

Hunter

I’ve worked hard to channel my emotions into something steady—yoga, discipline, a quieter path. But opening my brewery has stirred up memories I’ve spent years trying to keep buried, and peace is slipping further from my grip.

Then, Celia moves in across the street. Still untouchable. Still forbidden. Still all I’ve ever wanted. I long to make her scream my name and give her the pleasure she's been denied, but my past reminds me to protect my heart or else I'll ruin us both.

I know better. I should keep my distance. But how can I hold back when she looks at me like I'm all she needs?

In Too Deep is a scorching small-town romance full of sharp banter, forbidden age-gap tension, and very unneighborly temptation.

This book had me hooked from go! I really enjoyed the first Oakwhite Bay book but I REALLY liked this book. I felt more for the main characters in this book than the first. I loved Hunter’s salt of the earth personality and how real he is. There were moments of coping with grief that really resonated with me and I found the resilience refreshing. Thank you for the second ARC opportunity and I can’t wait to read about Maxine and Mitchell!!!!

I loved being back in Oakwhite Bay. Celia and Hunter had a beautiful story to be told, and author Mimi Flood threw in a ton of mini-tropes. This book definitely hit many of the checkmarks for me.

It’s a reverse age gap where we get to join Celia on her journey through a divorce, basically becoming a single mom, and struggling to believe she can be with a younger man. Hunter makes her feel twenty years younger, but her brain keeps pulling her back to reality. Her struggle is real but it is mostly with herself. Hunter has loved her since he was a child, but while he has his own commitment issues, he is happy to have Celia in any way she’ll let him.

I’m not a huge lover of the slow-burn, but Mimi manages to give the reader what they are craving while still delivering plenty of sexual tension. Hunter was on a mission, and although he attempted to be true and stick it out, but I think he kind of blurred those lines.

Hunter is also dealing with massive guilt and grief, which hits hard. His struggle to come to terms with the death of his friend and their last days together brings both him and the reader to their knees in anguish.

While this book has many very poignant scenes, it is also filled with joy and love. Celia’s little girl Ella is as sweet as they come, and she brings a smile to the face of everyone she meets. While Celia comes to terms with her failed marriage, the betrayal by Robert, and tries to navigate what to do next, Ella is always at the forefront of her mind.

Hunter and Celia turn out to be perfect for each other, and taking their time to get to know each other solidifies their relationship. It is the backbone of this story, and the slow-burn is what actually made me want to turn page after page. To see how things played out each day. To see the little things that made them smile, until they finally both realized they had found their person and that age doesn’t matter.

In Too Deep also gives the reader a little bit more Spencer and Bethany from book one, Swept Away, as well as introduces us to the love/hate relationship between Maxine and Mitchell. Their book is up next, and it seems like it is going to be a doozy. Maxine is feisty, and Mitchell will definitely have a challenge in front of him if he plans on earning her trust and love back.

Book Review 4.5 ⭐️
Spice level : 2 🌶️

Firstly, I want to say Thank you to Mimi Flood for the opportunity to get an ARC of this book!

Okay… this book had no right to be this addictive 😭💕

Celia’s fresh start in Oakwhite Bay was supposed to be simple, it was just her and her daughter, no drama.
But then Hunter, her broody (and way too handsome and charming) neighbor, walks back into her life and suddenly her no drama turns into how am I supposed to resist THAT?

The story between Celia and Hunter is a slow-burn tension that makes you kick your feet and scream into a pillow. It was a good mix of slow burn but when events happened it was hot and heavy!!

This is probably one of the best small town/second chance romances I’ve read in awhile. I still can’t get over the tension between Cece and Hunter and can we just talk about that Massage scene! 🥵🥵 haha
Their connection is slow, tender, and a little bit painful in how real it feels.

And let’s talk about Hunter….. total green flag/golden retriever! Oh my heart. The quiet strength, the patience, the way he sees Celia, not the version of herself that’s been broken by the past, but the woman still standing through it all.
The relationship he also formed with Ceces daughter Ella, had me rooting for him from the minute they were introduced!

If you’ve ever been scared to open your heart again… In Too Deep will remind you that love can still find you, even in the quiet corners of your life.

🌿🧘‍♂️🌊ARC Review🌊🧘‍♂️🌿

Thank you Mimi Flood for this ARC of In Too Deep! I loved reading Hunter and Celia’s story!

This was a reverse age gap at its finest, with the slowest burn! Hunter has always been obsessed with Celia and it’s no different all these years that that she is back, now with a 6 year old daughter, Ella and in the process of divorcing her husband.

My heart broke a bit for Celia, her (almost) ex husband destroyed her confidence little by little over the years, by cheating on her repeatedly, and it turns out the first time he cheated was 20years ago with her best friend 🤯 I wanted to hug Celia and do something NOT pleasant to Robert! Like what a A$$!!

Ella was the cutest little girl, with zero filter! I loved all the moments of her with Hunter (or when she was talking about Hunty)

Both these MCs had trauma to work through in order to finally believe that they both deserved to be happy and love each other. This book had so much heart represented loss and deception in such a way that it had to be processed over time the emotions aren’t just something that go away, they are always with you.

I love how we got more Spencer and Bethany too! And I can’t wait for Maxine and Mitches story!! It’s definitely gonna be an epic best friends to enemies to lovers, I can feel it!

Tropes:
🌿Reverse Age Gap
🧘‍♂️Single Mom
🌊FMC going through Divorce
🌿He Fell First
🧘‍♂️He’s loved her since he was 8
🌊The cutest littler girl
🌿Found Family

This book is perfect for fans of slow burn romance and for those who’ve ever been too scared to open your heart to love because it perfectly captures the vibe of how love can still find you even when you try to hide from it.

Hunter and Celia are both very independent and complicated characters. They both have many layers, but at the end of the day they just want to be wanted. And well…they’re perfect for each other in that regard, as well as others. Both of these characters got right into my heart and I could not quit this book even if I wanted to. I was hooked!

One thing that I didn’t love was how much back and forth there was in Hunter and Celia’s decisions. They wanted to be together, then they didn’t, and it was back and forth for a bit like that. I totally understood their perspectives and why that was the case, especially knowing what these two have gone through in the past. But I personally would’ve like a bit more “letting go” than what we got. However, once they did open up it was fire and the sparks were sizzling. And man was that FUN! I’m always a sucker for spice written by Mimi…iykyk

This book is a hard one to not love, so go have it and pick up your own copy!

This is actually book number two from a five book series called Oakwhite Bay. Even though each book can very easily be read as a stand alone they are inter-connected stories with recurring characters and continuing storylines too.

She’s off men…He’s off sex…But when sparks ignite, self-control doesn’t stand a chance…

In Too Deep was such an addictive read where each page just kept pushing me on to the next one and the next etc until I had completely devoured it all up - perfect!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this small-town romance and it had everything that i love from a romance novel. There was such funny sharp banter that i loved, a forbidden, reverse age-gap, unneighbourly temptations, second chances, sexual tension and hot hot hot chemistry…. phew!!!

Oh my heart was so full after reading this book and Hunter was such a wonderful, sweet person. I absolutely loved the Golden Retriever Hunter, i loved how he looked at Celia and saw the ‘real’ her and not the broken person she sees in herself. I also love the bond he has made with Ella and when she calls him Hunty it just melted my heart.

This book has lots of delicious slow burn and then the spice hits and oh my goodness…….!!!

Ahh Hunters story didn’t disappoint!! We are taken back to Oakwhite Bay where Celia has just recently moved back after a separation with her young daughter Ella to get her grandmothers house ready to sell. To run into none other than her old best friend’s little brother who she used to babysit who is now all grown up in all the best ways. The tension is palpable from them from the beginning. Hunter is the greenest flag golden retriever of a man with some things troubling him from his past. Hunter is so amazing with her daughter Ella and also taking care of Celia emotionally, spiritually and otherwise. Their relationship was honest and sweet and it was a breath of fresh air returning to this sweet town. Can’t wait for Maxine’s story.

It was never a secret that I was going to love this book - like all of Mimi's books!
Hunter sounded delicious in Swept Away so I was so excited to read this one and he did not disappoint. He was sexy and a little bit broken, his story of loss was so heartbreaking and I loved how much he pined for Celia - since he was a teen.
Celia was wonderful; starting over life with a little one in tow was not easy - but Hunter certainly helped her along the way. I loved how much he bonded with Ella and watching their relationship develop as well as Hunt & Celia's.
The steam was steaming AS PER! Hello lighthouse...I see you!
Another smash hit from Mimi, she just doesn't miss!

I volunteered to read and review an advanced copy of In Too Deep . This is a sensational romance . It has a little bit of everything a Romance should have . Hunter never dreamed his childhood crush would return to town . Celia picking up the broken pisses after her failed marriage moves her daughter and herself back to Oakwhite Bay . She's shocked to find Hunter the boy she babysat grown and so attractive . As they fight their attraction the slow burn kept me turning the pages . This story is outstanding and a beautiful emotional romance . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

In Too Deep is a beautiful book about love and loss, about past mistakes and new beginnings, and about learning to trust that you can stand on your own two feet while still opening up to the people around you.

In Too Deep is the second book in the Oakwhite Bay series and I have come to love this small seaside town and its residents dearly. Celia moves back in town with her young daughter after separating from her cheater of a husband and soon runs into her new neighbour, Hunter - who she used to babysit with his sister twenty years ago. Celia has had more downs than ups in her life lately but what really broke my heart was Hunter's story and everyhing he had gone through - and what he was still going through.

The slow-burn and the yearning were beautifully written and the tenderness of these two people - especially Hunter - wrapped me in a warm hug. Simply wonderful.

Love when a book reverses the norm! In this, the FMC is older and the MMC is the nanny!

Otherwise, this fits all the categories of a great small town romance, both recovering from heartbreak and trying to find their way back to trusting themselves.

Oh and they have to find a way of having *fun* while one is absistinent. Which really does work.

Would've liked a little more drama from other parties, but that doesn't take anything away from the ultimate storyline

The second book in the Oakwhite Bay series and this slowburn romance had me glued to the pages. Celia and Hunter are both recovering from heartbreak.

Celia, a single mom, is looking to rebuild her life after leaving her cheating husband. Her new neighbor is the boy she used to babysit with his sister but he is now all grown up. Hunter has secrets and when Celia moves in, she is the one woman he has truly ever wanted. When these two finally give into the intense attraction, it is everything l!

In Too Deep is book 2 in the Oakwhite Bay series by Mimi Flood 4.5 stars

When Celia and her daughter return to town for a fresh start after ending her marriage to a cheater, she just wants no drama but when she finds out her neighbor is none other than the boy she used to babysit years ago, Hunter. Both have lots of issues, loss, mistakes, reverse age gap, learning to trust and a slow burn romance.

I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

📕BOOK REVIEW📕

This is book 2 in the Oakwhite Bay series, and it can be read as standalone.

Celia and her daughter, Ella return to Oakwhite Bay after she leaves her husband. Celia moves into her gran’s house, across the road from Hunter, who she used to babysit. Hunter spots the single mum and is overcome with all sorts of emotions given she was his first crush. However, he sworn of sex and she is sworn of men, yet the sparks keep flying between them.

This was really sweet. Hunter was the greenest of flags, and the way he helped Celia with the house or looking after Ella, was really cute. Celia was lacking confidence after her ex, but I enjoyed seeing her get it back bit by bit being around Hunter.

I loved that this is a reverse age!! I loved getting to know the characters and more about Oakwhite Bay.

I cannot wait for the next book.

A very good story about two people unexpectedly thrust back into each others lives at the perfect moment, even if they try to deny it! It's not an easy path; as both Hunter and Celia have history, grief, and complications, but I think it's a very real journey that captures how messy real life and real love can be. Celia's daughter, Ella, makes the story better with her cuteness and intelligence, and her and Hunty's bond is the sweetest. I also am eager for Book 3 after all that setup!

Absolutely beautiful book! They navigated the realities of dealing with huge life changes and grief and everything in between so perfectly. The yearning and heated touches were just so glorious and when they finally caved into what they wanted it was absolutely worth the wait!

Hooked from the start by this story with heart . The storyline is divine and the storytelling compelling to boot .Oakwhite Bay is her mainstay ,the place she’s moved back to . Her childhood best friend’s in town. A fixer upper of an abode to offload and gather. A fresh start is what she’s after for herself and her six year old daughter . She is still married to her daughter’s daddy too . So much burden to carry . Hunter is a yoga instructor who’s taken a vow of celibacy so she’s safeguarding her heart with him. Except he’s hot for her for sure and the abstain doesn’t remain in his loins long . Great story

The way he feels and the way she shuts her heart away. Neither can hold back once they start to let their old selves remember the old times. He wants nothing more than to love her completely, but she doesn't want to dishonor an old friendship that was over long ago. But one thing is for sure, her little girl takes to him like she has never seen him do before. But he has a secret not even his friends know about. This book was definitely hands down, a fantastic read. Mimi Flood has decided to write a great book, and I love every word.
