She's exactly what he wants to sink his teeth into... Jordan Hill is his pack's Alpha. The Big Bad Wolf. And after his last breakup, he's opting to be the lone wolf, too. But then his rival's little sister—a human, of all creatures—comes to his door. And suddenly, what should be a tasty little snack turns out to be something more than Jordan could ever imagine...
Christa Hansen is simply looking for a place to stay. Yet the dark shifter smells irresistibly like forever. But getting involved with the wolf who tried to kill her brother—twice—is lunacy. Besides, in the unforgiving, shadowed world of shifters, there is no room for weakness. And falling for her family's enemy won't just be her downfall...it will be his, too.
At home in the Pacific Northwest, Wendy Sparrow writes for both an adult and young adult crowd in many genres but always with a happily ever after. She has two wonderfully quirky kids, a supportive husband, and a perpetually messy house because she hates cleaning. She’s an advocate both online and in her community for autistic children in addition to actively trying to raise awareness about obsessive compulsive disorder. Most days she spends on Twitter procrastinating doing the dishes.
The first thing I want to say is...woo!!! The second would be that this story was outstanding! I loved, loved, loved it. It had such a peculiar start and then it just kept going. I was completely and totally invested in it.
The characters were sensational. Christa was strong, fiesty, smart, and tough. She made a great heroine. Jordan was all alpha and it worked. Their scent-match was perfect.
Vanessa and Dane were so funny. I loved their openness and their obvious passion for one another.
Travis and Alanna were interesting. I would love it if they got their act together. He was a keeper, for sure. And I loved her sass. Perhaps they will be a match. Who knows? Stranger things have happened.
I adored Christa and Dane's dad. He was way cool. I also loved that he was a sniper and a Vietnam vet. That spoke volumes.
Jordan's brother left me wanting to know more about him. I liked him but I did not care for how he treated Jordan. He seemed like a good guy though. Hmm...
This book had action, adventure, suspense, drama, and romance. It never got dull. I was left happy in terms of the ending, but I was also left wanting more. My questions were answered and yet I still had an interest in asking more. I love it when books leave me with a conclusion but that also leave me wondering...in a good way. Hahaha...
Rating: 5/5 Recommend: Yes Audience: Adult/NA/YA, Paranormal/Fantasy Fic lovers Status: Clean (*mild profanity) Romance/Chemistry: Yes Action/Drama: Yes HEA: Yes Stand Alone: Yes (Note: This book is associated with another book called Past My Defenses.) Series of Interest: Yes Other: Great title!
If you've read PAST MY DEFENSES you know a little about who these two characters are. We met Christa very briefly when she picks up her cat, Lucifer, from her brother Dane's house and we got to know Jordan a little more in-depth since he's the alpha of the pack and helped the previous characters out quite a bit.
I found it hilarious that Jordan's new mate turned out to be not only human, but also Dane's little sister. Out of all the people in the world it could be to have it be Christa is just pure awesomeness. I enjoyed Jordan's character before book 2 so it wasn't hard to be excited to read more about him. We find out pretty quickly that Christa has multiple sclerosis and knows nothing about shifters. She might be sick but she is still pretty darn kick butt. She fits right into being the alpha female and she proves herself many times.
The relationship between the two was pretty fun to watch. Christa from the beginning wants to know more about Jordan and be involved in his life. She of course has some reservations about their mate bond and the forever of it, but takes everything pretty darn well. Jordan on the other hand fights the connection at first. Once he realizes he doesn't want to fight it he turns all alpha male protective, puts his foot in his mouth a few times, but you can really see the love he has for Christa.
I found that there were a few slow parts in THIS WEAKNESS FOR YOU, but there is a pretty epic battle at the end that makes those slow points totally worth reading through. I don't think you HAVE to read PAST MY DEFENSES to enjoy THIS WEAKNESS FOR YOU, but there will be a few points you might not totally 'get' and book one is really good so I recommend reading it before umping in. I will be on the lookout for book three!
* This book was provided free of charge from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Ok this is a new author to me but I enjoy shifter tales so was curious to see what Ms Sparrow would come up with . This Lycan story seems to follow on from her previous book Past My Defences as it has the same pack and characters Dane and Vanessa in it but this time it's the story of Danes human sister meeting the packs alpha Jordan and it's an almost instant imprinting that if honest I didn't really care for. Christa has a natural scent that means she is compatible with Jordan and to Christa he smells like "forever"! I almost gave up at twenty percent in as I wasn't happy with the insane way Christa just turned up at Jordan's house not to mention that she was all over him like a rash but thankfully I ploughed on and then happily the author upped her game considerably. No longer a boring chest beating werewolf romance but a well thought out suspense driven story and even better the hero and heroine were kept apart which allowed this reader to believe they could really and truly form a much stronger attachment to each other. Ok so that probably doesn't sound like much of a romance but when you factor in humans hunting the Lycans you begin to see a very interesting story. Jordan has had experience of what they call Poachers in the past and when a fellow Lycan is found brutally murdrered his tracking skills are called for. Leaving his new (very new!) mate at home is the hardest thing for him but maintaining phone contact with her should work , well it would if the phones worked! Christa is not the usual perfect heroine and in point of fact has multiple sclerosis ( MS) so when Jordan first meets her he knows she has physical issues but it's not a problem to him. He may not be sure if she can still have children and need to research her condition but it's not an issue for him . Jordan really does not care and learns very quickly that his little mate is more than capable of giving him the run around and I loved that the author made Christa such a strong woman. So in conclusion I'm very pleased that I didn't let the start put me off and it's fantastic to see issues that affect many people being tackled in this way. MS is no picnic that's for sure but nor should it carry stigma. This book turned out to be a constant surprise and the characters are often very amusing and Id love to read more about some of the supporting cast, in particular Travis. It may have started out with me shaking my head and rolling my eyes at the implausible instant lust but it left me cheering for these characters and I would happily read more
I found this author earlier this year when I read the first book to this series, Past My Defenses. I saw someone tweet about this author writing about a werewolf that had massive allergies to everything under the sun. I bought and read that book and really enjoyed it. I mean, how can you not love a story about a potential alpha werewolf who can be taken out by a house cat or marshmallows? So I jumped at the chance to review book two in this series.
We’ve already met our main characters in the first book, even if their roles weren’t large roles. Crista is the sister of Dane, book one hero. She owns the house cat that I previously mentioned. The cat’s name is Lucifer. Crista is a very strong individual. She is a human who knows nothing about werewolves. She also has MS, multiple sclerosis. If you are not familiar with this disease, that can really take a lot out of a person.
Jordan is the alpha of the pack. He is also the only Lycan in his family. While both of his parents are full Lycans, neither of his brothers ever shifted. Then not only is is a Lycan, but he becomes alpha of a pack. This made for a lot of struggles between him and his brothers.
In this world, a couple will scent match, meaning that they know their mate at first smell. Jordan fights the scent match because he has not had much luck with women. He has had several girlfriends who were crazy. So when he scent matches with Crista, he is extremely hesitant.
There is suspense in this story as Jordan helps some former packmates to track some poachers. Poachers are humans who hunt and kill Lycans to sell their organs on the black market. I really enjoyed this story. I didn’t find it nearly as humorous as the first book in the series, but this one did have it’s moments. This is a book that you could read without reading the first book in the series. But, saying that, I liked book one a lot more, so I would recommend reading it just because it is a great read.
I just realized I never put my review for this one here!
Rating: 4 1/5 "Yes, You Can Have A Good Time Reading A Book With No Hanky Panky" Stars
CONTENT WARNING: There’s absolutely NO SEX in This Weakness For You.
Ok, now that that’s out of the way, I loved this book. It was freaking hilarious, I laughed out loud, snorted and snickered all the way through. If you’re in a pissy mood this book is 100% guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Now, the blurb is weirdly inaccurate so don’t pay too much attention to it, but I’ll give you the gist of the story: pack alpha Jordan scent-matches on human-member-of-the-pack’s little sister Christa. He tries to fight it but fails miserably when he lets Christa and Lucifer (her cat) stay with him in his house. There’s a mystery threat to Jordan’s pack that seems to be related to events that happened in the previous book (that I’m going to read as soon as I can get my hands on it).
Anyway, a little action, a lot of laughs and a tough alpha going all gooey for his new mate made this a very good book for me. Had it had a little boudoir shenanigans it would have been like the cherry on top. Oh, and there’s no epilogue. With no hanky panky, I would have loved a baby epilogue.
I’m going to be waiting for more from this Author, I really had a great time reading this book.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*
So much humor in this book, I loved Christa, "it's not like I haven't seen it anyway," she said, smirking. "You've been here naked since around midnight when I left Lucifer out for a couple minutes - you sleep fairly deeply." The girl has no filter, "nope, we made out for a while in the middle of the night. But in my defense, you started it, and I thought you were awake up until you started talking about pancaked. You put up a good show of being awake." Jordan has no filter either, "you have a different scent when you're approaching fertility. I can't help knowing. Male lycans know when their females are fertile." Christa's dad is the real star of this book I loved him to bits, "you know, I thought I'd seen everything in 'Nam, but a naked man running through the forest carrying a semiautomatic...that's new." I hope other pack members of Jordan's get a book because this author will really have something with that series.
I freaking LOVE Wendy's writing style. It's so perfect. Paranormal romance with some sweet, a little sexy, and a lot of literal laugh-out-loud moments. It's the perfect mix, and any time Wendy comes out with a new book, I jump at the chance to clear my schedule and just enjoy her books.
I was really looking forward to seeing Jordan and Christa as a couple, and this definitely didn't disappoint! Although this is book two in the series, it can be read without having read Past My Defenses -- but seriously, you need to read that one, too, because it's just as fantastic.
PNR lovers, you don't want to miss this series, especially if you're in the mood for something a bit more lighthearted!
This Weakness for You, Wendy Sparrow Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre: Romance, Sci-fi, Fantasy, Paranormal Well, this is the second in a series, something I missed when requesting but they’re stand alone novels though connected and I was able to pick up the story easily enough. I really enjoyed this read so book one is on my TBR list for sometimes... I was expecting a light and fluffy paranormal romance, one of those where girl meets wolf, insta love and they live HEA, but I was secretly hoping for a bit more – and I got it. It actually has a solid storyline backing up the romance side and an engrossing plot that clearly started in book one, and parts of which I’m sure will carry on to books three and beyond. I need to like my main leads and Jordan and Christa were terrific. Jordan the Alpha with a sad backstory for which he blames himself, has determined he’ll go solo from the last tragic drama and has succeeded for the last two years, but then he meets – well, scents – Christa! Christa has MS, is short and slight, but makes up for any weakness in her strong and dynamic character. Its great to see a lead with a disability that’s not defining her, and that’s treated realistically. Being disabled myself I’m so sick of the token disabled person thrown in on occasion, who never encounters any of the problems we face in daily life. Sometimes they seem to just use a mind over matter approach, and overcome any physical limitations so easily. As an amputee I can tell you That Does Not Work. If it did I’d be able to do so much more, but sadly been there and tried it and broken bones resulted, and I found it simply wasn’t possible to do that which my mind says May be possible - if gravity were different, if I could fly, if the world was full of magic.....you get the picture. So to see Christa so open about her MS and the problems she had, but not let herself get side-lined because of them was terrific and a huge, huge thanks to Wendy from me for doing this. I loved Christa’s spark, her way of talking ( rambling – I do that too when I'm nervous) and she made me laugh. Jordan thinks he can control his reactions, that he can just ignore her and the problem will go away, but he’s in for a shock. I loved too that she wasn’t so overconfident that she came over as unpleasant, that type that just ride roughshod over others. She did what she believed in but had moments when she doubted herself – that's so real and happens to most of us. I enjoyed the story, the realism, ( within paranormal bounds of course), the humour and the sadness, and the way the plots melded together and weren’t over in a couple of pages, but strung out properly to have maximum impact. I was so sad that some died in the final battle, but that made the story more real, with so many fighting there was bound to be some losses. Stars: Four and a half, not quite a five but a great read and one to keep. ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers
I’m so torn on how to rate this. I loved the book right up until the very last page when Jordan and Christa finally, FINALLY undressed…climbed into bed……and.
No, that’s not a typo, that’s pretty much exactly how the story goes.
I did not know this was a novel with closed door love scenes. There is just nothing to indicate that it would be, and that makes for a fairly unpleasant surprise ending. I have to say, as much as I enjoyed what was there, I am definitely left feeling more than a little cheated and disappointed. It’s just that the entire book is filled with all this banter and flirtation between Jordan and Christa that—while not explicit—does not read as what I would expect from a “sweet” romance. There is such a huge build-up, tons of sexual tension, and then, nothing.
Everything leading up to that is fantastic. From the beginning, our hero Jordan is inundated with problems. He has resentful siblings, and the recovery from betrayal and murder two years past to contend with, as well as the normal daily stresses of being pack alpha. He has zero interest in finding a mate, until his mate finds him.
Unbeknownst to her, our heroine Christa is already sort of technically pack. The fact that she has no idea werewolves exist is irrelevant. As the story begins, she is trying to contend with a drug addicted roommate that she is desperate to get away from, a new nephew whose parents are seemingly insane, and an utterly exhausting flare up of multiple sclerosis. As a character, she is interesting, well-rounded, and completely amazing—due largely to the fact that nothing fazes her.
The storyline featured a novel take on courtship, as the couple is forced apart by a murder investigation, and separated almost immediately upon first meeting and establishing a tentative relationship. They must contend with getting to know one another through phone calls and text messages, rather than the distraction of all the hot monkey….err, wolf sex if they were together. (At least I thought that was where the plot was going. Yes, I am bitter.)
On several levels, this book is not what I expected. At all. It is quirky, strange, and at times somewhat confusing. The main male characters in particular are bizarrely angsty and melodramatic, which sounds terrible but somehow completely works. The book is an engaging combination of paranormal, action, humor, and romance. All in all, a very well balanced blend.
But I am still left with the question of how to rate. By halfway through the book I was leaning towards five stars, as it is just that amusing and enjoyable. However, factoring in how incredibly and literally unsatisfying the very end was…I think 3.5 rounded to 4 is more than fair.
For the sake of full disclosure it must be stated that I received this book, free of charge, from Netgalley.
Jordan's story was definitely worth waiting for. I loved him in Vanessa and Dane's book (Past My Defenses), and the nonstop sparring (mixed with a healthy dose of mutual respect) between Jordan and Dane continues here, since Jordan scent matches with Dane's younger sister Christa. Absolutely perfect! ;)
Ms. Sparrow's writing once again made me laugh out loud over and over again. Her sense of humor is fantastic, and really shines through both her writing and characters. Poor Christa--it took her most of the book to get used to the fact that she was surrounded by Lycans with amazing hearing, and her lapses made for some really funny scenes. (Awkward for her, but super funny for the rest of us)
Lucifer the cat is back too, and seeing him instantly obey Jordan even over the phone is hysterical. (Clearly, I need to get involved with an alpha Lycan--can I connect with one on eHarmony, do you think?)
I was already half in love with Jordan's big bad alpha wolf self after book one, so it was pretty much a given I was going to enjoy his book. Christa ends up being his perfect counterpart--she sees herself as weak for much of the book, in part because she has MS (yay to Ms. Sparrow for writing a heroine with MS!), but in reality she's so much stronger than her condition. She's a kickbutt marksman (markswoman?)--the scene where Jordan decides to teach her some basic gun safety is hilarious--and she has zero filter as far as her brain-to-mouth connection goes. (Remember the Lycan sense of hearing? So. Many. Laughs.)
Even her dad is awesome. If ever a family were created that should be involved with supernaturals, the Hansens are it. His retelling of his phone conversation with his daughter re: their new in-laws? I think I snorted some Pepsi Max out of my nose at that part.
Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this book. If you like paranormals, appreciate humor in your reading, and enjoy sweet sexiness (there's not really much actual steaminess, though, but I for one didn't miss it at all), then do yourself a favor and give this series a try.
Quite a bit in this book hinges on what was going on in book one, but much of it is explained along the way (some of it for Christa's benefit, since she was new to the situation), so it's not necessary to have read the first book to "get" this one--but this series and these characters are so much fun you're going to want to read them both.
Don't say I didn't warn you!

Okay, so what would you do if you walked into a room full of people and all of a sudden fell in love with a person based on their smell alone?
That’s what happens when Jordan, a physically awe-inspiring lycan/werewolf scent-matches to this small, spitfire of a human woman named Christa, who just happens to be the sister of the man he tried to kill…a couple of times. When he realizes whats happening, he pretty much leaves the room with the equivalent of an “Aw, hell.” Of course, after a few chapters, the heroine brings him to heel (haha, get it–a werewolf brought to heel). Even though Christa has multiple sclerosis and is at times physically weak, the spunk and inner strength that romance readers love to have in a heroine is present in full spades. Of course, as the alpha male in a lycan pack, Jordan can be quite sexy in a slightly eye-rolling, domineering sort of way, so it’s nice to have him “trained” by Christa on how to be a more sensitive, loving husband. As every romance reader knows, the man always has to be taken down a peg or two by the female. Don’t worry, Jordan doesn’t get horse–err, wolf-whipped too much.
Just published today, This Weakness For You by Wendy Sparrow is quite the fun read that only got better as the story progressed. I admit there were times I had to stop and reread a few paragraphs since all of a sudden I’d be a little lost, but perhaps in my exuberance to read the novel, I read it a bit too quickly and missed some plot details. I don’t generally have that problem, but who knows? I’d still wholeheartedly recommend this paranormal romance to others–I literally had to stop reading it sometimes so that I could share some hilarious lines with my husband. I’m debating whether or not to paw through the story (I’m having fun with these werewolf puns) to share a couple of my favorite lines–I hate to ruin the surprise and humor for readers though since those lines are like golden nuggets waiting to be discovered.
Aww heck, this one was pretty funny and won’t spoil the plot!
“You know, I thought I’d seen everything in ’Nam, but a naked man running through the forest carrying a semiautomatic…that’s new.”
Apparently this is the second book in the Taming the Pack series, which I didn’t realize when I received my advanced reader’s copy from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review. No worries–you don’t have to read the first book to fully understand this book, but it still might be nice to read them in the order they were written!

This series just keeps getting better with each book! Jordan Hill more than piqued my curiosity in the first book and with everything that happened there, I just knew that the guy deserved to have his own happily-ever-after. Because, really, who the heck wants the deaths of three female lycans on his conscience? He was the epitome of what an alpha should be, but when he's scent-matched to Christa Hansen, a human whose supposed lack of physical intimidation may be considered a weakness but who ends up making Jordan weak with need for her but also stronger in his determination to protect her and their pack. Christa is often underestimated by her overprotective mate Jordan and her equally overprotective brother Dane, but she's stronger than she seems, having the intelligence, foresight, and courage to do what is necessary.
Humor is something this story never lacks and it appears to be a staple of the series, along with the suspense that has you wanting to solve the mystery of who's really after whom and what's really going on with both the Glacier Peak pack and the fairly young Rainier pack, led by new alpha Travis Flynn. I figured out what was happening early on and the one behind it came to me a bit later on, but it never lessened my enthusiasm to see how everything would be revealed and, more importantly, how the poaching and betrayal would be resolved. There's quite a bit more action that goes on here, especially since the story involves more than one pack, and I found myself cheering on the lycans and humans who were after the poachers as they tried to finally be rid of them once and for all, even amidst all the anger and bloodshed.
Reading about Jordan's transition from the alpha he was in the first book to the alpha he became here in the second book was endearing in a way because you could see him transitioning into a better leader. Christa was the perfect partner for him, especially because she proved her worth in ways that majority of the other characters never expected. I liked how the story also touched on family, both Jordan's and Christa's and then the family they had with the pack, and, of course, Dane and Vanessa Hansen were still very much around and seeing where they were in their lives together put a smile on my face. I read this second installment right after reading the first one and I have to say that I've become very addicted to these lycans and their mates. This Weakness for You was a very worthwhile read and it gets five stars. ♥
I need tostart with the fact that I have never laughed so much during a fight scene in my life. Seriously, there's like dead bodies flying, and the conversation going on had me in tears. Also, right before the big scene, it was crazy suspenseful. Now, with that, this is about a stubborn werewolf Alpha and a cute young woman whom is gunna put him in his place. Like she throws shoes at his head and I killed myself laughing. HA! I should also state that again I did not read book one, but I didn't feel lost or anything like that, so you could definitely read this one as a stand alone and not feel anything different.
So the first book is Vanessa and Dane's. Well Dane's got a human little sister, and she's the Alpha's mate. She doesn't know it. Nor does she knows about werewolves. Nor does Dane want her to, so he threatens the big bad wold alpha to kingdom come to stay away, except Christ won't have that. She just wonders right up to his doors and tells him he needs to help her. She's a trip. She's this tiny little thing, with a severe disease. And yet she stands up to the big bad wolf, even after she knows he's a wolf, and throws things at him. LOL. I loved her.
Jordan is a little different. As the Alpha, he not only has to worry about his pack, but also about the murders the poaches are committing against his pack. AND he's not over the last fiasco where one of his pack helped the poachers kill them. It's complicated. And then to top it off, he meets Christa, and then immediately has to go help another pack who is having murders the same way as before, so he knows something is up. Plus he's a friend. I loved that Jordan was cool with Christa having a health issue. No holding back on that. However, he sometimes held back because she's a girl, which she remedies :) And when he leaves, leaving her without him, things get a little hectic. :)
The plot is excellent, full of suspense. And yes, it is partly a romance, but hot damn if there's isn't way more the story than that. I mean, someone has to stop the humans who are killing off the pack. And there's definitely a wonderful set of side kicks. Jordan has brothers, and Travis the other alpha, as well as some of the other pack members around, and I definitely hope there's more of this story and series to continue. Seriously, I kept having to high light areas on my kindle I thought were funny, and boy did I laugh even the day after I read the story. It was hilarious!! I loved this one and I definitely want more!! 5 WOLFY PAWS!!
Oh My! I was very surprised by how much I liked this book. It was funny, exciting and very hot with the right amount of sexual tension. Thank goodness I found this series before it got to into the series I am just one book off and I can only imagine the hijinks that went on in that book from the mentions of Vanessa and Dane in this book. This book has the feel of a novella it zipped through it that fast and I loved every minute of it.
Jordan the brooding big bad wolf, that according to Dane, Vanessa and even Jordan himself tried to kill Dane...twice, as a rival for Vanessa; has finally found him a mate with staying power. Jordan has had the worst luck in finding a mate that isn't crazy, or in love with someone else. Christa Hansen isn't looking for love she is just looking for a little relief from her MS. Trying to escape from her self destructing roommate Christa needs a place to stay but sh can't stay with her brother, Dane, Vanessa is severely allergic to cats. Vanessa knowing Jordan wont act on his scent match to Christa so Vanessa plays matchmaker and send Christa to Jordan's house saying he'll let her stay there... with the cat. Jordan was determined to stay away from Christa but with her there in his house the scent match is undeniable. Christa isn't going to let him off easy either she wants Jordan and isn't going to give him up easy. She even takes in stride the fact that he can change into a wolf, simply saying that it explained so much. Her strength is tested when faced with the pack for the first time and the fact that they are being hunted by a group of poachers killing shifters. She even does something no other Alpha would have done in hopes of saving all the packs in the area.
This book was, pardon the cliche, laugh out loud funny. Christa suffers from MS but she doesn't let that get in her way of living her life especially now that she has Jordan. Jordan despite being being hesitant at first with Christa because one she's Dane's little sister and two human but like her little cat, that Jordan so easily accepted, she dug in her claws and won't let him go. One of the funniest parts Jordan is showing Christa how to shoot a rifle, unbeknownst to him her Daddy was a sniper and taught her how to shot, with how Wendy Sparrow wrote it you can here Vanessa and Dane laughing at Jordan in the background. All around this was a pretty damn good book.
She's exactly what he wants to sink his teeth into...Jordan Hill is his pack's Alpha. The Big Bad Wolf. And after his last breakup, he's opting to be the lone wolf, too. But then his rival's little sister—a human, of all creatures—comes to his door. And suddenly, what should be a tasty little snack turns out to be something more than Jordan could ever imagine...Christa Hansen is simply looking for a place to stay.
Review:
I really liked the first book but I have to say this one was even better!
I like that this story while even in tense moments has some witty dialog. The story could really have been a dark one but the way the dialog is handled makes it fun to read. This is not saying that it is all fun and games...there is someone killing lycans again. Jordan is asked to come and help figure out who killed a shifter, but of course it is not that easy. Jordan has just found out that he has scent mated with Dane's sister Christa...talk about fate biting you in the a**...lol. That makes for some great scenes between Dane and Jordan, as they try to get over their animosity towards one another. As Christa and Jordan get acquainted, everything hits the fan and not only is another lycan setting them up, but the poachers are trying to take out Jordan's pack. There is one exciting battle scene at the end of the story.
Now, this is book two in the series and it can certainly be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading them in order.
Loved Christa! Even though she has MS, she is one tough cookie. Considering she has just been told about scent matching and lycans, she really just goes with the flow. She does have her insecurities especially after everyone treats her as the alpha female and she does not think she is physically tough enough to be effective. She is smart and that really saves everyone in the end. Jordan is all alpha wolf, yummy goodness. Though he has been burned a few times! He tries to be a good mate for Christa, even taking in her devil cat...lol
Great series, that keeps getting better. A must read!
Christa Hansen is on her way to meet her new nephew, but she also has to ask her brother if she can stay with them. Unfortunately her cat will mess that up. Her sister in law has terrible allergies. Christa herself by as M. S. and is used to being weak in body but not in spirit. Lycan alpha Jordan Hill is visiting his new pack member when he is struck by an amazing scent. An ailing house guest is going to drive him out if his mind. That is until a phone call from another alpha. Have the poachers hit again or is the latest death more personal? The second in the series and should be read in order. All out war shouldn't have so many laughs, but thus has. It's great fun. The families have really lovely characters.
Jordan Hill is the Alpha of his pack. When he finds out that poachers are threatening his pack once again, he decided to take the fight to them. That is until he meets Christa, the sister of a man he's tried to kill twice but who is now a member of his pack. When they meet he immediately knows she's his mate. Her scent calls to him so he knows they are scent-matched. Unfortunately his last scent match didn't turn out so well so he decided he needs to keep Christa at a distance.
Christa has no idea that Lycans are real. When she meets Jordan and he acts strangely toward her and her brother starts talking crazy about scent mates she just chalks it up to his new baby. But when she goes to stay with him she eventually finds herself at Jordans house and her whole world is opened up.
This is my first book by Sparrow and I quite enjoyed it. The humor is liberally laced throughout the story so even when things would get serious there wasn't a funny moment far off. The characters were interesting and unique and fun to read about. There were a few times I wanted to slap Jordan upside the head but as the book progressed he got the hang of being a mate and showed a lot of growth where Christa was concerned. I really enjoyed the world building and the way Lycans are portrayed. It had similar elements to the typical lycan but also its own unique quirks as well. Some of the best parts of the book were when the characters (usually Jordan) would be having two separate conversations since lycans have such good hearing and Christa is human. I thought it was interesting how Sparrow took something that could have been very confusing and she just made it really funny.
There is a book that comes before this one called Past My Defenses which is about Christa's brother. I didn't read them in order but I do think that a lot of things would make more sense if I had. This book dealt with some of the aftermath of the events of that book even though it is two years later. I would suggest reading the books in order. Plus Jordan is introduced in the first book along with several other characters that have reoccurring roles.
Jordan is the Big Bad Wolf, Crista is his rival’s sister and human but together they just may be able to save their pack from a dangerous enemy in this mesmerizing paranormal romance.
This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers shivering in anticipation with suspense, excitement and romance. The author brings her well written scenes and details that inspire vivid images and capture the imagination and the suspense and fascinating ensures that the readers want to know everything while the strong compelling characters grab the reader’s attention and draw them deeper into the story.
Crista and Jordan’s attraction for each other scorches the reader from their first sort of meeting but Jordan’s is sure that he can take that chance and well Crista is pretty determined to have things her way. The reader can’t help but get caught up in this spunky human’s relationship with the big bad alpha as she teaches him a few things while learning just what it means to be involved with the pack and since Jordan and Crista together make a very striking and inspiring couple that readers can really relate to it is really easy to feel as if they are part of their story.
Danger from within and from the poachers strike close to home adding lots of action and excitement and lots of surprising twists and interesting elements adds lots of spice to the story. Some snarky dialogue adds some chuckles and the battle with the bad guys adds some depth to the story as well as it brings in outside packs and humans working together…which incidentally gives a lot more fascinating characters to want to get to know. There is never a dull moment in this story and I was completely caught up from the very beginning and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Having read the first one in this I was very happy to return to another novel in this series. I was also curious on what would happen next and would this be just as good. Jordan is the pack's alpha and goes to see one of his in the hospital because a new baby has been born. This pack mate also has a human mate with a sister who is also in the room visiting. When he enters that is when it hits him something he did not think would happen now. More like the smell hit him and boy does her brother get upset too. Christa doesn't really understand what is going on or what they are talking about all she knows is she needs to stay with plus having MS that is giving her fits she is about at the end of her reserves. Everyone is thinking this is funny though so humor is going full speed in this novel. But being she also has a cat and where it is at does no longer want to have it there,as she is driving wondering what next she is directed to Jordan's and that is when it really gets interesting. She does not know this but when she gets there exhaustion takes over thanks to MS and there mutual attraction also. The story just gets better. As they come to terms and their relationship grows even with a testy brother in the mix there will also be danger around the corner. So this is just not a boy meets girl kinda story, it also has grip you seat mixed in kinda story. With paranormal it also means more feisty too. Actually at one point reinforcements called in with some being human kind also. Things will come to a head with a very satisfying conclusion. That really this has it all, love ,humor, passion and danger all without never leaving your seat. Received a arc for a honest review.
This book is the second book in the Taming the Pack series, but it can be read as a standalone (I read it as a standalone). I was really looking forward to this book because I love reading paranormal romances about werewolves, especially alpha wolves. I am happy to say that I enjoyed this book a lot! I loved the writing style of the author, Wendy Sparrow. She wrote a great paranormal romance that had a mixture of hot werewolves, romance, action, and laugh-out-loud humor. I loved the characters in the book, and I became extremely attached to them. My two favorite characters were definitely the main characters: Jordan and Christa. Christa had a serious illness that really weighted down on her physically, but I loved how she never let that control her life. Christa was feisty and humorous, but at the same time sweet and caring. Jordan was a hot alpha male, which I am always a fan of. He was romantic and protective. I loved Jordan a lot! If you are looking for steamy scene after steamy scene, this book is not for you. However, if you love a book with adorable romance, hot alpha werewolves, and a little bit of steam, this book is definitely for you. I recommend this book to all paranormal romance lovers.
Jordan is alpha of the Glacier Pack. After things went horribly wrong with his last scent-matched mate, he swore off women. And then he scent-matches on the sister of a human frenemy in his pack. Jordan runs from Christa, vowing to keep away from her. But a meddler with the best of intentions has other ideas.
The pack is in danger from human poachers. Jordan is called away to investigate a death, and the danger escalates. Jordan and Christa's brother are the targets, and Christa is caught up in pack politics and the deadly violence. Does she have what it takes to be alpha female?
Wendy Sparrow's strength is her hilarious dialogue. It's the kind of zany dialogue that makes you laugh out loud and read passages to your husband/roomie/cat. She also writes touching romantic dialogue. The "9 reasons" conversation is creative and heart-warming.
The running joke of the shifters' superior hearing is a lot of fun.
If I have one complaint about the story, it's that Jordan and Christa didn't spend enough time together.
I don't know if the Entangled Select Otherworld line is "sweet," but this book is. It's mild and chaste. I still consider it an adult book, however, because of the level of violence. It's not graphic, but it does happen.
I definitely recommend THIS WEAKNESS FOR YOU. You'll love it for the humor, if nothing else.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I have to say it won’t be the last! I really like how she hooks you in from the very beginning - a great story that just kept the reader enthralled throughout. Jordan Hill is the Glacier Pack Alpha and, after some really traumatic prior romances, he’s sworn off romance. He is visiting one of his pack, Vanessa, who has just given birth - an event that will change his life! In the same room, also visiting, is Vanessa’s sister-in-law, Christa. Jordan doesn’t see Christa but recognises immediately that they are scent matched. He tries to avoid looking at her, quickly leaving the room but his wolf - and Christa - have other ideas!
Christa has no idea that Jordan and her sister-in-law are both lycans. She’s a strong, independent young lady who has MS and sometimes has to concede that she needs help. She’s sassy and smart-mouthed, usually saying just what she thinks - even when super hearing lycans are around to hear her! This leads to some funny interactions and the story is full of humorous exchanges, especially when the pack are faced with poachers threatening to exterminate the pack.
How the relationship between the two main characters progresses and they face the poachers make this a great book to escape into and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys paranormal romances with a strong, bad boy wolf, feisty female human and lots of fierce lycan action!
Jordan has no desire for another mate espically after what happened to his last one, but what he wasn't expecting was Christa. Little sister to the man he's tried killing on more than one occasion she should be the last person he should be matched with, but sometimes fate knows when to give you a shove in the right direction.
Christa might not know why, but she knows that Jordan smells like forever. Finding out what he really is isn't as difficult for her as he imagined it would be, but before they can start their forever a death in a neighboring pack pulls Jordan away so he can invistigate.
As he continues following the evidence the case gets stranger and stranger until all the peices come together and he finds out what is really going on.
Jordan is a take charge alpha male who would do anything to protect his pack.
Christa is the type of girl to sit back and let others control things, she has an opinion and she'll darn well make sure she's heard. She's sassy and smart-mouthed, but also smart as a whip and not listening to her is always a bad idea.
The two have their back and forth moments that keep you laughing, and wondering what will happen next between them. The story is interesting and you turn every page excited to see what will happen next. Great read.

Romance fur and fang style! This novel is part if a series but I read it as a stand alone, after a rocky start I was soon immersed in the lycan world. This was a surprisingly humorous and light hearted romance story with lots of drama and passion. It was different as the heroine is far from the typical alpha male mate...she is shock... horror human and has MS. This was handled in such an upbeat yet realistic way that I fell in love with Christa almost as fast as Jordan!
Jordan and his insta scent matching to a mate has caused him much pain previously so he strives to avoid on acting on instinct but doesn't last very long against her feminine charms! We see the big bad wolf learn a little hubris by falling in love with some one that is brave and strong but not in a purely physical sense. The other twists in the story line involve bringing down a ring of poachers intent on wiping out the lycan pack..which is dealt with a steady build of suspense and intrigue that has you reading to the end and forgetting to sleep! The intertwined passion and romance of our lead characters and the supporting cast add humour and warmth to a well written story.
I really enjoyed this paranormal love story and look forward to reading more in this series.
This paranormal romance is the story of Jordan and Christa. As the alpha male of his wolf shifter pack, Jordan has given up on finding a mate, after three unsuccessful and disastrous relationships. When he scent matches with Christa, the human sister of a man who he tried twice to kill, he knows he should stay away from her. But fate has other plans for them...
I really enjoyed this story! Having not read the previous one in the series, it took me a few pages to get into the story, but once I did, it took off from there and kept me hooked the whole way through. Jordan and Christa were such funny and engaging characters that their personal interactions as well as their internal monologues kept me howling, with many laugh out loud moments. The sexual chemistry between them was charged from the beginning and though their love scenes were fairly tame, the sexual tension was enough to keep me interested in their romance. I enjoyed the dynamics of the wolf pack relationships and the suspense plot was well written. Overall it was a very entertaining read and I will definitely look for more from this author. 5 rollicking stars!

Love at first smell?
Sparrow grabs your attention first thing with an unknown friction between the main characters right away that upsets Christa’s brother immediately. There is a lot of things going on with the plot also that almost makes it too much, however, it ties together well and the novel flows. An example of this is Jordan putting Christa’s brother in charge of the pack as he goes to help another pack with a problem they are having. I enjoyed her spin on Lycan reproduction also, it gave definite excitement to the story.
Why only 4 ½ you might ask? While I liked most everything, a couple things bothered me. It seemed a little wild that an alpha female werewolf would have numerous allergies as that would make her a weakness on patrols and such. Another thing that seem a little contrived was that Christa’s family were all perfectly fine with the whole Lycan existence. That is just my opinion, other than those couple of things it is a great read. I definitely recommend it.
If you love shifters, paranormal, romance, and Lycans this is your book.
For the last few years all Jordan’s life has been about is guilt and the need for vengeance. He has secluded himself from the females not only of his pack but outside of it as well. Even though the Alpha’s are meant to mate and carry on the Lycan line. After three failed relationships he is just not ready to go there again now if ever. Christa suffers from MS and is all about making the most of her life in the limited time she has left before her disease takes a firm hold and helping others as well. The last thing either one of them ever expected was to have such a strong pull towards each other the minute they are in the same room. Jordan fights with everything in him to keep Christa out of his life, especially knowing the danger that hunts him. Christa is a fighter though and believe it or not makes the big bad Alpha submit to her will. While danger is lurking around every corner these two share a passion that will ignite your very soul. For a story full of laughs, love, drama and mayhem look no further!
I hadn't realized this was a series when I was offered a complimentary copy for review. I've heard that these characters were introduced in book 1 but this can be read as a stand alone without it affecting the story.
Jordan is the packs alpha. When he meets Christa, he recognizes her scent. He understands what it means but fights it. Christa's reaction to his smell kind of bugged me. As someone with no knowledge of Lycans, etc, I didn't understand her reaction.
I totally agree with another reviewer who suggested getting past 20% before giving up. It does start a little cheesy but once past the insta-love part in the beginning you definitely see the relationship grow as well as the overall story with the addition of some suspenseful moments. Personally for me Christa was my fav character. It was nice for someone to not be perfect, and for it not to be something traumatic wrong with them.
Jordan was definitely not looking for a mate when he runs into Christa. Especially with everything that has happened and then there's the fact that she's Dane's sister. I absolutely loved Christa who is smart, strong, and passionate about those she loves. I also loved her and Jordan together once he stopped fighting his attraction to her and let himself fall for her. At the same time they are falling in love, Jordan is helping to investigate shifter murders happening in an out of town pack. When the killer brings it all back to his town and Christa and his pack are in danger, Jordan will have to learn to trust Christa and count on others.
I so loved this story not only for the hot romance between Jordan and Christa, but also for the action happening with the murder mystery. Both had me on the edge of my seat until the very end of the book and wanting more once it was over.
I cannot begin to say how much I loved this book. It was superb! I laughed out loud many times. And read quite a bit of it with a silly grin on my face. This Weakness For You was so entertaining. I loved it from beginning to end. Jordan was freaking amazing. His reaction to Christa was hysterical. And then her reaction to being at his house later was even funnier. She has to be the most feisty, funny, strong, independent female character I have read in a while. She was special. And I loved her sarcasm, well all the characters sarcasm. The way they ragged on each other and the sharp wit was so enjoyable. I truly relish books that make me laugh. The action and suspense in the book was a great secondary story line. It helped to enhance each person's strengths. I hope there will be more of this series because it is too good to end.
