Partly Cloudy, Mostly Complicated. Hailey Sinclair had her life all mapped out- until God changed the forecast. Instead of being an on-air meteorologist for a national network, she's reporting the weather in rural Wyoming. Now she's caught between her college sweetheart, Jett Dawson, and Colt Wilder- the infuriatingly gorgeous and cheerful cameraman who seems determined to break through her stormy exterior. Torn between the future she planned, and the one God might be writing, Hailey must learn to trust His direction- and her heart- even when it leads straight into the eye of the storm.
A Weather Girl's Guide to Love by Cassandra Joelle 3 Stars
Another buddy read with my friend Melissa! :)
This book is a Christian romance following Hailey Sinclair. She had her life all planned out. She goes to rural Wyoming after graduation instead of a bigger city to be an on-air meteorologist as she planned. Her mother passed away when she was young and her boyfriend of 3 year's, Jett Dawson, reveals his mother is dying from cancer. So, she changes her plans and goes to follow Jett home because his mother has always felt like her own.
While she is there, things with Jett and her don't feel like they are working out for whatever reason and they take a dating break. He is devastated by his mother's diagnosis and needs space to process. While on the dating break, she meets Colt Wilder, a cameraman at her new job who she connects with more than she did with Jett. She starts to wonder why her and Jett lost their spark in the relationship and if she was just with him because of the close relationship she had with his mother.
This was a cute premise but I ultimately wanted more from the story. While the premise had potential, I loved the idea of a Christian rom-com centered around a meteorologist finding her way back to God’s plan, the execution fell short a bit. The writing felt a bit like we were missing some of the details (which I understand, it's meant to be a novella), but there were some details I would have liked to see fleshed out a bit more into a longer story.
Also, something important to note: the cover and title make this book look like a light, cutesy romantic comedy, but it has a lot of details surrounding on-page parental death from cancer, grief from that loss and mentions of another parent dying from the same illness. There are no trigger warnings for these themes that I noticed, so I want to mention I think readers should be aware of this before going in.
I did appreciate the faith thread and the Wyoming small-town setting and overall it was cute, but wish it was a bit longer.
Thanks to the author for sending me a copy to read for review. All thoughts are my own.
6 Stars! I really loved this! There was so much faith, I loved the Big Horn Range in Wyoming for the setting, as that's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! It was such a fun, happy story and the lessons were on point. Definitely a new favorite.
Such a sweet story filled with smile moments; laughable incidents, the banter between some couples, the faith elements sprinkled quite often and woven in so naturally! The characters were all mostly likeable but one rather wish washy kind of one who admitted he had strung another along. The main character Hailey was loveable but rather impulsive; not overly wise per say with jobs and moving etc but she is young of course and there wouldn't be a happy turnout otherwise for the story :) The only aspect I would find awkward was how an ex ended up an in-law...........can't say much more as not wanting to spoil anything! No odds as probably just me..but, would certainly recommend this young adult rom com type for anyone as I was glad to check out this new to me author. (Would read more by her too yes)
This story focuses on a woman who has always dreamed of being a meteorologist since she was a kid. Finally her dreams are coming true, but when a sudden illness falls on someone she holds dear, she ends up reevaluating her dream and what they can look like somewhere shes never envisioned being. As a believer she's quickly reminded our ways are not always His ways, especially when an annoying cowboy makes her wonder did she ever really love her boyfriend or was he just a part of the dream.
I did not know this was a Christian Romance I went into this story blind and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this story. The faith of the characters was so heartwarming and I just smiled from beginning to end. Throughout the story you get to see characters navigate their grief and fears while leaning into their faith to see them through. The faith based elements were a reminder that love is beautiful when you keep God first.
This was a delightful rom-com that's both faith-filled and inspirational! The characters were likable and fun, and the storyline was full of laughs. Now, while it's a rom-com, it's not all sunshine, it tackles tough topics like loss, grief, and heartbreak, but handles them well. I absolutely loved the romance, it was so beautifully clean and Christ-centered! I definitely anticipated where and how the story was going/would end, but I didn’t mind.☺️
Recommended if you like: 💖faith-based clean romance 🤠cowboy charm 😆 banter ☔️ weather girl heroine
(I received this as an ARC. All opinions are my own)
This was the perfect sweet and funny Cowboy Rom-Com, and Im a little scared writing this review because I loved this book soooo much that I don't trust myself not to spoil it but it didn't take very long for me to become obsessed with the MMC and the FMC they were just the perfect characters, my favorite part mightve been the banter between the 2 MC'S that was just so funny and I loved the slight enemies to lovers vibes it gave off. I also want to say occasionally with Rom-Com's I feel like they can lose depth because the focus is on light funny themes which is great in its own way but This book kept an excellent depth in faith themes that weaved throughout the entire book and kept me continually turning the page! All in all a beautifully written book that I would definitely recommend!
Loved please read it! I loved A weather Girls Guide to Love! It was such a sweet and funny love story with such sweet Christian themes! This story still has some heavy themes and death so please check the trigger warnings! 🤍 I did cry and it was beautiful!
This book is available on kindle so you could read it… now, if you want. As you can see I read it both on paper and kindle. When authors gift me their books I still try to get them on my kindle so that authors can get paid for the pages read. 🧡
Hailey Sinclair’s meticulously crafted dream of becoming a renowned meteorologist for a national network comes crashing down like a summer storm when she finds herself reporting the weather in a small, windswept town in Wyoming. While leading to surrender plans to God, she also finds herself torn between her college sweetheart, Jett, and the annoying yet charming cameraman Colt.
My Thoughts: This was such a cute romcom! It perfectly blends laugh-out-loud moments with a deeper message about surrendering our plans to God. As perfectionist Hailey discovers, what He has in store for us always surpasses anything we could ever imagine. This was a story of love community, and finding a sense of home in the most unexpected of places and with the most unexpected of people. Heartwarming and sweet!
This book is for you if you enjoy: ☁️Charming small town settings. ☔️Laugh out loud comedy. ☁️ Powerful faith moments. ☔️Lots of banter. ☁️ Grumpy/sunshine trope. ☔️clean romance.
I received a complimentary ARC from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is Joelle's most entertaining rom-com/faith-filled/inspirational read yet! The originality of the story was present and the elements were all very well done. I've been craving a warm cinnamon roll ever since starting this book. 😉 Being a rom-com, people might think it's all laughter and sunshine but this story had a lot of hard moments that life has a way of throwing at a person, death of parent, loss of a precious friend, fear of loneliness, a break-up, the list goes on and on. So this story dealt with life, but also had plenty of funny moments as well. I received an ARC from the author but this is my honest review.
Simply put, A Weather Girl’s Guide to Love is just a super fun, cute, and clean read!
Hailey reminds me of Elle Woods. She can be naive, but she is so good-hearted and optimistic that you can’t help but adore her. She manages to have all the awkward situations happen to her, but she gets through them with more style than the rest of us ever could.
Colt starts out pretty mysterious, but we get to see his other side as Hailey gets to know him. He has a great sense of humor from start to finish, and I appreciate that his steady personality comes from his trust in God.
This book is relatively short, but it keeps the story moving quickly, and I didn’t feel like any parts dragged on. Hailey has things she has to work through, but it’s done in an equally emotional and light-hearted way.
A Weather Girl’s Guide to Love is the perfect book choice if you’re looking for a quick romance book with small-town vibes, romance, and cute banter. I binge-read this, and I could see everyone else doing that too!
I received an e-book copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Hailey is a meterologist and is excited to pursue her big dreams. She has everything planned out for her and her boyfriend, Jett. All of it gets put on hold unexpectedly whenever she decides to move to his hometown to be there for him and his Mom. She applies for a temporary job at a station and officially meets cameraman, Colt. I loved this story! It was original, funny, heavy at times, and so very sweet. I loved how Hailey had to come to the place in her life where she would have to choose to follow her plans or Gods. This is a new to me Author and I thought Cassandra did an incredible job with this story and the heavier topics. I loved how she handled the relationship aspect with Hailey & Jett also. I will definitely be on the look out for more from this Author!
Favorite quote - But now, I live intentionally. We never know when our time is up, Hailey. And the most important thing is to honor God with our lives, our bodies, and our actions.”
Content - Kisses only No foul language Death (on page) Grief Mentions of parent who passed away
This is such a great book that takes you on a journey through the emotions of trusting God versus trusting your own perfectly laid plans. I loved meeting the characters and details that brought this small town to life!
This book was super cute & a fun time read! The Kindle Unlimited version had some major formatting issues that honestly made it really difficult to fully enjoy so that was a bummer. I also think it could’ve used another round or two of editing as far as grammar and spelling issues. Overall it was a sweet read & I’d be likely to recommend it as a quick palette cleanser!
I absolutely loved this story! It was not only original but also infused with humor and warmth that made it truly special. I was particularly captivated by Hailey's journey as she faced a significant turning point in her life, caught in the difficult decision between pursuing her personal aspirations and aligning herself with her faith and God's plan. The author skillfully navigated complex themes such as loss and illness, presenting them in a thoughtful and sensitive manner that resonated deeply.
Moreover, the relationship between Hailey and Jett was nothing short of enchanting. Their chemistry was palpable from their very first encounter, creating an immediate and compelling connection that drew me in. The way they supported each other through various challenges added layers to their bond, making it both beautiful and relatable. Overall, this story left a lasting impression on me, showcasing the intricacies of love, faith, and resilience.
Ate this book up with a spoooooon. I read this in like 2 hours. SO precious. I laughed. I cried (like big tears). I absolutely adored the Christian elements & how the characters had God at top priority.
I love this author & her storytelling. Can't wait to read more from her.
SPICE: kisses only LANGUAGE: no foul language TRIGGERS: death of parent (x3.. 2 off page, 1 on)
Absolutely loved this book! The characters are likeable and show growth in their vulnerability. It's also so inspiring and poetic for the character's prayers to be included. As I read the main characters expressing their emotions and their faith in God, it comforted me to relate to them in my own walk with Christ. The book as a whole felt fresh and unlike many similar books in this genre in the best way possible. The meteorologist and cowboy dynamic was something so unexpectedly charming.
a weather girl’s guide to love was such a sweet surprise!! hailey’s thoughts on love, faith, and purpose felt so mature and real, especially the honest convo around choosing love vs. not wanting to be alone. colt and hailey’s relationship was so pure and beautiful!! i was giggling and kicking my feet the whole time 🤭
i loved how faith stayed central the whole way through. It was a quick read with a great message — dreams can shift, but God stays constant. so good! 👏🏼
This book kind of feels like a 13 year old wrote a novel in the fan fiction style, but created all her own characters. A LOT of typos and incorrect grammar in my copy from amazon. I’m a seasoned romance/romantasy reader and have never read what could be considered christian romance. (and self published) it was sweet, and i enjoyed parts of it, but with a little more editing and some filling in of certain plot holes this book could be really good. The only thing that made it “christian” was the fact that she prayed a lot and wrote that into the dialogue. None of Hailey’s actions proved she was a believer. Moving to your douche boyfriends hometown because you love his mom more than him? You’ve GOT to be kidding me. Colt is hot, I’ll give the author that much. But then she Dusted over a major character death in like 3 sentences, and it really weakened the plot from there. Her giving up her career for a man kind of bummed me out, and then the pregnancy trope at the end really sealed the deal for me. Disappointed. I don’t know if the author has any background in meteorology, but having studied weather fanatic myself, there is TONS of incorrect info about weather patterns and such. I feel like if you’re going to commit to a trope you really need to commit to that trope instead of dancing around it. There’s often a reason self published authors are self published, that’s all I’ll say.

Super fun, clean rom-com. The animal weather adventures were great! We had some divine prompts when my husband and I met each other too- loved the approach to including Him in all important decisions. Just a couple questions - why did they leave Jett’s house when they thought the dam was going to burst? Not answering her call from Chicago to not “interfere”?

A sunshiny cowboy romance! Weather girl x cameraman / cowboy romance. While it is a rom-com and some moments will have you chuckling there is emotional depth and a faith element to the story.
⚠️ Death on the page/ loss of a parent to cancer
I enjoyed the dynamics between Colt & Hailey. He was a flirt but confident in what the Lord had spoke to him and totally respectful of her. My only wish is we could have seen some of their dates on the page as I know it would have been so sweet!
Hailey goes through a journey of faith and self-discovery as does her ex Jett.
Hailey has had her whole life planned out. She is gonna live in Chicago and be a meteorologist on a big time news station. She found the first cute boy that fit her plan and they started dating. Now three years in they are graduating college, but Jett gets news that his mom is sick. He goes home to Wyoming to be with her. Hailey being the good girlfriend she is follows him. They are forcing things and it isn’t working.
She sees an add that the local news station needs a weatherman. She applies and basically forces them to hire her. Her world is falling apart and the plan she has is crumbling. She needs to trust God for what comes next. She meets Colt at the local diner while stuffing her face full of a cinnamon roll. He infuriates her and pushes her outside of her comfort zone.
She gets the opportunity of a life time being mentored by her idol, but is that really what she wants?
This short sweet book is about giving God the reins and allowing Him to guide and lead with what comes next.
Things I loved: 🍩Cinnamon roll meet cute 🐐Crazy goat 💦Quickmud 🪿Goose thief
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Cassandra Joelle for this arc.
Cute story! I love the cover and the clever chapter titles. I appreciated the relationship with Jett, and that their break-up wasn't a bitter thing, but a respectful ending. A very faith-filled story with a crazy goat who steals the show :)
Meet Hailey. She is a control freak weather reporter who suddenly has to move to the middle of nowhere Wyoming when her long term boyfriend’s mother is diagnosed with cancer.
This book had an interesting premise, and I was interested to see how it all worked out. As a bit of a control freak myself, I did relate to some of Hailey’s character, and the challenge to trust God even when life seems to be going haywire.
However, all in all this was a bit of an underwhelming book.
For starters, the romance felt very lusty. The characters talk about God, but Hailey is constantly looking at the physical. We hear about how handsome and rugged and good looking Colt is throughout the entire book, but don’t hear much about his character, except that he is extremely sarcastic. It is definitely not a sin to find someone attractive, but we really should be looking at the character of someone more than the physical appearance.
My dad always tells me that gravity wins in the end, so look for a man who is godly and honorable. That is such a good reminder, and is something I feel Cassandra Joelle fails to convey.
Additionally, Colt spends way too much time hanging out one on one with Hailey considering that she is still in a relationship with Jett. It just framed him in such a bad light in my opinion.
Lastly, the while thing between Jett and Hailey was so awkward. Jett and Hailey both like each other, and say they still love each other, but decide in the end to break up because neither of them wants a big city life…but then both of them stay in small town Wyoming and stay friends?? And Colt’s younger sister marries Jett? It just felt so weird. A second chance redemptive thing between Jett and Hailey would have made so much more sense and in my opinion reflected Christian forgiveness and love better.
So in conclusion, I really wanted to love Cassandra Joelle’s writing, but it feels very sudo-Christian to me. She throws in comments about faith, but the characters don’t really reflect that in their character arcs/actions. It is only the last chapter when we see any real growth in Hailey, and it felt rushed. I wouldn’t recommend this.
