Ellie Wade resides in southwest Michigan with her husband, three young children, and two dogs. She has a Master’s degree in education from Eastern Michigan University and is a huge University of Michigan sports fan. She loves the beauty of her home state, especially the lakes and the gorgeous autumn weather. When she is not writing, you will find her reading, snuggled up with her kids, or spending time with family and friends. She loves traveling and exploring new places with her family.
I really enjoyed Miles and Miranda story. Miles and Miranda are best friends and have been for a while now. Miranda needs a place to stay and Miles mentions moving in with him. Miranda is set on getting her own place but the house hunting does not go well so she ends up moving in with Miles. One night there is a snow storm that knocks out the power. So they are stuck at home with no power and the tension boils over.
I loved Miles and Miranda's friendship. One night they order in and Miles knows exactly what she wants without her telling him. Miranda used to live in LA and always used a car service. Miles decides however that he is going to help her learn to drive and get her drivers license. I loved watching their friendship develop into something more. I
Favorite Quote: "You’re my Sunshine because you’re my light. You make my world brighter. You make me see things clearly. You bring a spotlight to the love I feel for you.”
One Pucking Moment by Ellie Wade completely wrecked me in the best way when I found out Miranda's past. This story goes so much deeper than a hockey romance. It’s raw, tender, and unafraid to tackle tough real-world issues with honesty and care. Ellie has such a gift for weaving heavy themes into a love story without ever making it feel overwhelming or exploitative. I felt every emotion right alongside Miles and Miranda, and there were moments that genuinely had my chest aching.
Miles Keller is the definition of a book boyfriend: steady, loyal, patient, and quietly in love for what feels like forever. His devotion to Miranda is unwavering, and the way he shows up for her, especially when her past resurfaces, is incredibly powerful. Miranda’s journey is just as compelling. She’s complex, guarded, and deeply human, shaped by trauma yet fighting so hard for peace and control over her life. Watching her slowly let Miles in, even when she’s terrified of needing him, was both heartbreaking and beautiful.
That snowed-in weekend? Absolute perfection. The emotional intimacy, the blurred lines, the quiet realizations, it all felt so natural and earned. This book is about healing, found family, and choosing love even when you’re convinced you’re too broken to deserve it. One Pucking Moment isn’t just a romance; it’s a reminder that the right person doesn’t try to save you. They stand beside you while you save yourself. Ellie Wade delivered something truly special here, and I won’t be forgetting Miles and Miranda anytime soon. I can't wait for Logan amd Tessa's story next in One Pucking Desire.
3/5 Stars – One Pucking Moment: A Forced Proximity by Ellie Wade
This book had vibes, but not the payoff.
What didn’t work: The biggest issue? No real climax. The story just… happened, and then it was over. The romance didn’t feel earned. The FMC moves in, they’re friends, a winter storm hits, and suddenly it’s “oh we’re in love now.” No slow burn, no emotional build, no tension that snaps. It felt more like convenience than connection.
We also barely got to know the FMC. Her inner world wasn’t developed enough to make the relationship hit emotionally, so when the romance kicked in, it felt flat. I wanted depth, conflict, longing—something. Instead, it dragged. This could’ve easily been a tight, impactful 100-page novella, but it stretched itself thin without adding substance.
What I liked: Miles and the side characters carried this book on their backs. They had personality, charm, and made the scenes more enjoyable. Honestly, they were the reason I stayed invested at all.
Overall: Cute concept, weak execution. Forced proximity alone isn’t enough—you still need tension, emotional growth, and a love story that feels earned. This one had potential, but it never fully delivered.
Miles and Miranda were such a treat to read. I love a good friends to lovers and these two meet through her best friend Annalise who is with or boy Jaden. They quickly become best friends who enjoy each other's company but there us a pull neither one of them is willing admit. After becoming roommates to ease the loneliness these two find they have attraction in common too. Throw in a power outage during a snowstorm and you can guess the best way to keep warm.
Miranda is quietly battling demons that she doesn't show and Miles is about to break down her walls and show her family isn't always blood. Another fantastic addition to the Crane Hockey series.
I absolutely adored this book! I swear that I cannot get enough of these Crane hockey boys. Each time, I don't think they can get better, but they do. They really do! This was Miles' story and I was a fan of Miles as soon as he was introduced in the series. Enter Miranda, Annalise's assistant. Friends to lovers is always a great troupe and this one was so well written. I swooned; I overheated; I cried - all the feels! We got some much from Miranda's background and Miles was the perfect friend/lover. I hope this series never ends! (5 stars)
This was best friends to lovers perfection. I absolutely loved it! One of my favorites of this series. (But I feel like I say this with every new book.)
