One of the first studies for the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. This compact study acquaints the reader with the background of many of the phrases in the Declaration, pointing also to contemporary ideas. This volume parts the curtain to reveal the dependence of this classic document on religious notions.
Good short summary of Calvinism’s influence on the founding. I’m giving it three stars because while I like a lot of the material, it feels a little thrown together. Which I’m sure is more a reflection of needing to get it out quickly than Rev. Dr. Hall’s erudition, which I have long appreciated.
