One thing I always admire about the Amish, even though we disagree theologically on several points, is how quick they are to help communities rebuild after natural disasters like tornadoes, fires, and floods, etc. Not to mention how they chip in to help their own community members (including their Englisch neighbors) in need. This collective ‘servant’s heart’ also happens to be one of my favorite things about A Heart on Consignment by Mindy Steele. Watching the Amish of Havenlee, Indiana, gather donations and rebuild damaged properties after a devastating storm hits a neighboring district was really heartwarming… and a little convicting too, if I must be honest. It’s also a plot point that perfectly helps us get to know not only the hearts of our heroine Salina Stoltzfus and our hero Seth Weaver but also their engaging personalities – and, of course, for them to learn those things about each other too.
My heart went out to Salina who finds herself in the unenviable position between a matchmaking mother and a district full of young men who don’t want to court her and vice versa. She’s such a relatable character with a genuine heart, a gregarious personality, and a great sense of humor, and I really enjoyed spending time with her on these pages. (Note: I didn’t mean for all those adjectives to start with a ‘g’ but here we are. Haha!) Enter Seth, a young Amish man from Kentucky who, after being recently jilted nearly at the altar, escapes to his aunt & uncle’s home in Salina’s district to recover. Even though he’s a bit broody when we first meet him (and who can blame him?), it’s clear that he too has a good heart and appreciates a sense of humor. His warmth toward Salina quickly went a long way to making him a worthy hero in my book, all of his other strengths notwithstanding. I eagerly leaned in to their easy friendship and then their ‘fake courting’ pact, remaining ever hopeful for this to develop into something deeper, despite the obstacles to a happily-ever-after for them (which include barriers they’ve put up themselves). The end result is so tenderly depicted and made my heart smile.
Bottom Line: I do so love a good ‘fake relationship’ romance, and Mindy Steele definitely delivers an enjoyable one in A Heart on Consignment! Their sweet friendship of mutual appreciation and then warm affection, the sparks beneath the surface as the pretend courtship starts to feel real, and the bumps in the road to a HEA – each of these elements made this such a satisfying love story to follow. Especially along with the fact that this author always blends tenderness and wit well, along with characters like Seth & Salina who are easy to befriend. But the best part of this story for me? How the donations/consignment part of the plot – discarded things waiting for new purpose – parallels the overarching theme that dreams we thought were discarded can, in the hands of God, be given new – better – life when we surrender them to Him. Another lovely read from Mindy Steele!

A beautifully written story of strength, resilience, and unexpected love.
Salina lives in Havenlee, Indiana and much to the dismay of her parents (especially her mom) has not made a love match. Salina wants to marry for love not just because that is what is expected.
Seth is visiting his aunt and uncle after being rejected three days before his wedding. He hopes the time away from Kentucky can help him heal emotionally and ready to work the job that is waiting for him.
A devastating weather event hits a small community near Havenlee and an opportunity to help others also finds a way to help both Salina and Seth.
I took my time wandering through Salina and Seth’s story. I knew each time I opened the book I was entering a beautiful world. I was happy and content by the last word.

Seth has been dumped by his fiance and so he decides to visit family in Indiana and forget about her and the embarrassment of being rejected.
Neither Salina nor Seth want a relationship, but Seth decides to help Salina out but being her fake boyfriend so her mom will stop setting her up.
This was a sweet story and they make such a cute couple. This story goes to prove that love finds you when you are not expecting it, and love is always on time.

There's never a Mindy Steele book that I don't love. I was introduced to the Amish community from Mindy Steele's books and have never looked back. I loved this slow burn romance. These two were adorable and I see the message loud and clear. Sometimes you don't really "know" what's best for you....until it happens ! Thank you for such a heartwarming tale about family, love and values and accepting someone for who they are. ❤️

A Heart on Consignment is a heartwarming Amish romance story set in the tight-knit community of Havenlee, Indiana. The story features Salina Stolzfus, an outspoken, upbeat but vulnerable heroine and Seth Weaver, a brokenhearted hero. Both characters are likeable and easy to cheer for. I enjoyed the way their romance builds slowly with warmth and humor as they resort to a fake-dating relationship to squelch Salina's mother's meddling matchmaking! Their journey from self-doubt and past rejection to finding purpose and hope for the future, gained through learning to trust God's timing, is relatable and inspiring. The generosity and compassion of the Amish community is beautifully showcased. All in all, this is an uplifting, enjoyable read.

A Heart On Consignment is a deeply moving, faith-filled Amish romance that reminds you God is always working—even in the waiting, the heartbreak, and the unanswered prayers.
Salina’s journey touched me in such a personal way. Her longing to be chosen, her struggle with feeling overlooked, and her quiet desire for love reflect something so many of us wrestle with. Yet through it all, you can see how God is gently guiding her heart—teaching her that her worth is not found in others, but in Him. Her decision to focus on serving others through the consignment shop was such a beautiful picture of surrender and purpose.
Seth’s story is just as powerful. Walking through heartbreak and disappointment, he carries wounds that only God can truly heal. Watching him slowly let his guard down and begin to trust again felt so real and meaningful. His journey is a reminder that sometimes God leads us away from what we thought we wanted to bring us exactly where we need to be.

March 15, 2026A Heart on Consignment by Mindy Steele is book 12 of the series "The Heart of the Amish." It can be read as a standalone but the full series is wonderful. Salina Stolzfus is a young single girl that feels pressure by her mother to wed ... soon & is constantly trying to find her the perfect husband. Seth Weaver is a man who loves tinkering & repairing things - just not making furniture. After Seth is jilted at the altar, he seeks quiet refuge. "He has a passion for repairing broken things" except for his heart. When disaster strikes the community, Salina & Seth work together to help with clean up & rebuilding. As a "pretend couple" it solves some of the matchmaking issues, but they can't ignore the matchmaking of each others hearts. I enjoyed the series, it's like revisiting and old friend. The characters were relatable & the storyline keeps your interest. I was given a complimentary copy of this book by Barbour Publishing & was under no obligation to post a review.

There’s something incredibly comforting about stepping into Amish country through the pages of a good book—and this heartfelt romance delivers all the warmth, faith, and charm readers could hope for.
From the very first chapter, Salina Stoltzfus captured my heart. After years of watching the men she hoped might notice her marry someone else, Salina is exhausted by disappointment and even more tired of her parents’ constant hints about marriage and grandchildren. Instead of dwelling on what she doesn’t have, she throws herself into helping her community after a devastating storm by suggesting a consignment shop for the flood of donations arriving in Havenlee, Indiana.
That’s when Seth Weaver enters the picture.
Still reeling after his fiancée unexpectedly calls off their wedding, Seth leaves Kentucky to stay with his uncle and escape the embarrassment and heartbreak following him back home. I really enjoyed A Heart on Consignment by Mindy Steele. It’s one of those stories that just feels genuine and easy to get into. The characters (especially Salina and Seth) felt relatable, each carrying their own previous hurts while trying to move forward. You could really see their struggles and growth as the story went on.
I liked that the romance didn’t feel rushed either. It built naturally and you could feel the emotions behind it instead of it just being thrown together. There were some really sweet moments but also deeper ones that made the story feel more meaningful.
Fans of clean, faith leaning romance will especially appreciate the themes of redemption, second chances and healing.
Overall, A Heart on Consignment is a warm and satisfying read. Perfect for when you’re in the mood for something uplifting, emotional and hopeful.

Spiritual Themes
There are gentle references to trusting God and being grateful for where He has a person. I didn’t agree with all of the content relating to gratitude (more on that in the Respectful Discussion section), but I do agree with the emphasis on being grateful to God and trusting in Him.
The message of neighborliness is a bit stronger in the book, as Salina demonstrates a strong desire to help those in need, and she takes sweet delight in doing it. As far as her work on behalf of others goes, she certainly models the concept of “cheerful giving.” Whether it’s doing the wash or chipping in with a hammer and nail, Salina is ready to lend a hand, even with tasks that others would prefer to avoid.
Scripture Connection
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

What I Liked
Although I had initially had mixed feelings about what this meant for the romance, I found it refreshing that Salina was described as being “plain” in terms of attractiveness. Earlier this week, I was thinking about how so many books feature female main characters that are apparently irresistible to all (or multiple) gentlemen in their communities. I’m not sure if this is so that readers can live vicariously through the protagonists, but it doesn’t feel all that realistic. I think it can also end up being a downer for readers who get a lot of that in books but don’t see that translating to their own lives.
So, while I didn’t like that even Seth initially found Salina plain (and thereby unthreatening), I did like that Salina seemed like a more “real” person. In addition to not being the most sought-after person, she’s also a chatterbox who finds herself sharing more than she necessarily needs to, and she drinks way too much coffee. I found myself relating to Salina’s talkative ways, especially when it came to over-explaining things.
Salina shines as a character, or even a potential role model, not due to good looks but because of her truly admirable personality. Salina takes joy in the work set before her, and she delights in the opportunity to make others’ lives better. She approaches life with a grateful heart and a sweet smile. She models excellent traits, serving as a good example for me!
I also want to give a quick nod of appreciation to Jacob, who is like a brother to Salina. The two watch out for one another and demonstrate real care for each other.
Content Notes
The romance was gentle and sweet.
This is definitely a specific content / “trigger” note, but there are a reasonable number of references to hunting / eating animals. (The author has another book in this series, Hunting for a Husband). Main character Salina loves raising rabbits and cares for them very tenderly, but occasionally has to sell them when their population becomes too large. There’s also a mention of Salina coaxing more milk from her cow by telling her the difference between a dairy cow and a beef cow.
Respectful Discussion: Gratitude
There were a few small references to gratitude that I don’t fully agree with. For instance, at one point, Salina’s mom expressed that those who are in need will/should humbly and gratefully accept what they’re given. As someone who has absolutely been in need, I disagree with the concept that “beggars can’t be choosers.” There is a dignity in choice, and I believe that’s a worthwhile consideration when it comes to giving. With that said, I was grateful for Salina’s willingness to serve, as well as her desire to open a consignment shop so that people could get what they needed– without sacrificing their dignity.
It’s also lightly implied that desiring things may be a reflection of ingratitude. I do recognize the need for gratitude, and I know that this is something I need to work on! With that said, I also believe that God welcomes us, as His little ones, to make our desires known to Him. Spiritual Themes
There are gentle references to trusting God and being grateful for where He has a person. I didn’t agree with all of the content relating to gratitude (more on that in the Respectful Discussion section), but I do agree with the emphasis on being grateful to God and trusting in Him.
The message of neighborliness is a bit stronger in the book, as Salina demonstrates a strong desire to help those in need, and she takes sweet delight in doing it. As far as her work on behalf of others goes, she certainly models the concept of “cheerful giving.” Whether it’s doing the wash or chipping in with a hammer and nail, Salina is ready to lend a hand, even with tasks that others would prefer to avoid.
Scripture Connection
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

What I Liked
Although I had initially had mixed feelings about what this meant for the romance, I found it refreshing that Salina was described as being “plain” in terms of attractiveness. Earlier this week, I was thinking about how so many books feature female main characters that are apparently irresistible to all (or multiple) gentlemen in their communities. I’m not sure if this is so that readers can live vicariously through the protagonists, but it doesn’t feel all that realistic. I think it can also end up being a downer for readers who get a lot of that in books but don’t see that translating to their own lives.
So, while I didn’t like that even Seth initially found Salina plain (and thereby unthreatening), I did like that Salina seemed like a more “real” person. In addition to not being the most sought-after person, she’s also a chatterbox who finds herself sharing more than she necessarily needs to, and she drinks way too much coffee. I found myself relating to Salina’s talkative ways, especially when it came to over-explaining things.
Salina shines as a character, or even a potential role model, not due to good looks but because of her truly admirable personality. Salina takes joy in the work set before her, and she delights in the opportunity to make others’ lives better. She approaches life with a grateful heart and a sweet smile. She models excellent traits, serving as a good example for me!
I also want to give a quick nod of appreciation to Jacob, who is like a brother to Salina. The two watch out for one another and demonstrate real care for each other.
Content Notes
The romance was gentle and sweet.
This is definitely a specific content / “trigger” note, but there are a reasonable number of references to hunting / eating animals. (The author has another book in this series, Hunting for a Husband). Main character Salina loves raising rabbits and cares for them very tenderly, but occasionally has to sell them when their population becomes too large. There’s also a mention of Salina coaxing more milk from her cow by telling her the difference between a dairy cow and a beef cow.
Respectful Discussion: Gratitude
There were a few small references to gratitude that I don’t fully agree with. For instance, at one point, Salina’s mom expressed that those who are in need will/should humbly and gratefully accept what they’re given. As someone who has absolutely been in need, I disagree with the concept that “beggars can’t be choosers.” There is a dignity in choice, and I believe that’s a worthwhile consideration when it comes to giving. With that said, I was grateful for Salina’s willingness to serve, as well as her desire to open a consignment shop so that people could get what they needed– without sacrificing their dignity.
It’s also lightly implied that desiring things may be a reflection of ingratitude. I do recognize the need for gratitude, and I know that this is something I need to work on! With that said, I also believe that God welcomes us, as His little ones, to make our desires known to Him. So she sets to work to keep her mind, heart, and soul occupied. Salina feels that her community's recent tragedy will help her greatly and the community, overall. She opens a consignment shop and this little shop helps Seth get out of working with is uncle.
The two of them embark on something that may be set in the stars and point them both in the right direction once and for all.

First off, I often tell myself that I need to add more Amish stories to my reading palate because I enjoy them so much. I love seeing the culture brought to life from an author who makes you feel like you fit right in. Mindy Steele has done an excellent job of this in my opinion! She made Salina & Seth characters that I quickly came to care for and long to see fall in love—in spite of all the difficulties they faced.
Salina’s Mamm tries to play matchmaker for her, overlooking the fact that she is happy as she is. Of course she longs for a family of her own someday, but her Mamm’s meddling ways are frustrating at times. Even trying to set her up with her best friend Jacob! Salina knows it’s all in God’s timing. She also feels a bit invisible & ignored by others. Learning that being different isn’t always a bad thing, but that God loves her and made her as she is. More Than Just Plain
Salina's mother has told her she is too plain to attract a husband. She tells Salina she must change basic things about herself if she has any hopes of getting a man.
Her mother has been embarrassing her by inviting single men for dinner hoping to pique their interest in Salina. It has been super awkward and a little heartbreaking to see Salina deal with that kind of pressure at home.
When a tornado strikes nearby, their Amish community is asked for donations and volunteers to help. While volunteering, Salina works with Seth, a guy staying with his relatives who is a total grump. He's surly and ill-tempered, but Salina decides she's going to win him over with kindness.
There are more donations than people have needed and the excess is kept at the farm belonging to Seth's uncle. Salina's dream comes true when it is decided all the excess donations will become part of a shop where people in need can pick things out. She had been wanting to help people like that for a while.
Working together, Salina and Seth become such good friends that she asks Seth to pretend to court her to stop her mother's cringey matchmaking dinners.
The two have such a good time together, their courtship seems real. Just as Salina suspects their relationship might have promise, Seth literally disappears. He leaves a short note, then she hears nothing from him.
Her mother immediately tells Salina things would have never worked out and discourages her from having any hope about Seth.
It seems this might become a story with a sad ending, but this tale has more to it. This sweet Amish story has a nice ending despite all the roadblocks. This five-star book will appeal to fans of Amish tales and well-written stories.

This is my favorite Amish romance book yet!
After the embarrassment of having his fiancée call off their wedding just three days before the ceremony, Seth Weaver leaves Kentucky for Havenlee, Indiana, hoping to escape his troubles. There he meets Salina, whose parents—especially her mother—are eager to see her married. When the two become involved in opening a consignment shop to help people affected by a tragic storm, their paths begin to intertwine in unexpected ways.
This was a sweet and heartfelt romance between Salina and Seth. Seth was a refreshing male lead—more human and relatable than many typical romance heroes. I appreciated seeing his journey from heartbreak toward healing and a new sense of purpose. Even while carrying his own pain, he treated others with kindness and respect, particularly Salina and the Amish community around him. His vulnerability at key moments made his character feel genuine and believable.
The chemistry between Salina and Seth felt natural and developed gradually. I especially liked how Salina’s personality—sometimes misunderstood or dismissed by others—was recognized and appreciated by Seth as something special and exactly what he needed.
One of the things I always enjoy about Amish fiction is the strong sense of community, and this story highlighted that beautifully. The way the Amish characters supported one another and found creative ways to help those in need added warmth and depth to the story.
The novel also included an interesting twist involving one of Salina’s bold ideas. It was fascinating to see how such an unconventional plan was handled within the Amish community—very different from how it might unfold in other romance genres.
If you enjoy Amish romance, especially stories that bring something a little different to the genre, I highly recommend this book.

This is such a sweet story, and readers are going to love it.
Salina Stoltzfus is an only child born to Amish parents. Throughout her life Salina has had a heart to serve others and her community but as her parents begin to grow restless that she still hasn't found a suitor and future husband her mother tries matchmaking which causes Salina much frustration.
Seth Weaver comes to her community trying to mend his broken heart. Unsure if he is worthy of being loved again, he joins his aunt and uncle on their farm where he works along his uncle, but he would rather be fixing things that are broken.
When a terrible storm wreaks havoc on a nearby community Salina is determined to do all she can to be of help and there she meets Seth. Through their work of helping others rebuild their shattered lives the two become friends and pretend to like each other so Salina's mom will stop her matchmaking. As time moves on and the two spend more time together hearts begin to soften.
Salina's suggestion to open a consignment shop to help those who lost everything or anyone who needed help was a solid idea with the bishop. Seth agrees to help Salina get it up and running. They work diligently and as they work Seth sees how kind and thoughtful Salina is. Known for being a little talkative Seth finds her chats endearing and her love for her rabbits that she raises equally as loving and kind.
This is a very sweet story of not letting life get you down when times get tough. I especially loved Salina's character and how thoughtful and sweet she is to everyone. Will there be a love story that blossoms with these two?
Fans of Mindy Steele will want to run and not walk to their nearest bookstore and get a copy. Five star review!

Absolutely Wonderful!
This is such a wonderful, tug-at-your-heartstrings story! The characters are amazing, and the author’s way of describing interactions and scenes makes you feel everything as if you were the characters.
Seth is broken and broken-hearted, which makes his reasons for going to Havenlee totally understandable. My heart went out to him completely as I hoped for healing. And Salina was the right person to help with that.
I absolutely loved Salina, who has also experienced her share of heartbreak. She is quirky and unique, incredibly caring and sensitive, and she feels others' plights deeply. While some don’t agree with her ways, they are just the right medicine that Seth needs.
The story is full of compassion, faith, overcoming struggles, love, and healing, along with a lesson on helping those in need. And of course, there were those annoying characters that you just wanted to smack upside the head a time or two, and those that put roadblocks in Salina and Seth’s path. While they were annoying, they also contributed much to the story, which even made me smile a time or two. Those elements, and so much more, are what make A Heart on Consignment such an amazing story. It will stay with you long after reading it and should not be missed.

Salina, the only child of her parents is feeling the pressure to marry. But she’s too flawed, too plain, for a young man to notice her. Right? Every man she has ever set her sights on married someone else. A disastrous storm in a nearby area may be just what she needs to set her focus on something besides marriage. Helping with clean up and the donations pouring in for those who lost so much, Salina meets the nephew of her neighbors come to stay with them for a while. Seth seems withdrawn, though, sad and reluctant to forge new friendships.
When Seth’s fiancée canceled their wedding only a few days before the big event, Seth was devastated. All the plans he had for his future lay shattered at his feet. He needed to get away from Kentucky and all the memories of the girl he had though would be his wife. A moving story that shows how God knows our heart and has a plan for us. I felt so bad for Salina . She is short in stature and at times doesn’t have confidence in herself. I like how she doesn’t hold back and speaks her mind even when it is not always comfortable to do so. With her heart being broken she is not sure she will find the right man to be her husband. I think we all at one time can feel the same way. I can remember when someone backed out of a serious relationship with me. It was painful and I began to feel insecure. Trust became a big issue and I didn’t let anyone get close to me.
Seth put me off at first when he seemed to judge Salina. We always hear that “beauty is only skin deep.” God looks at our heart and wants us to not judge others. I do understand that Seth is hurt due to a breakup which changes everything. I enjoyed watching him slowly begin to let his heart heal.

This is the story of Seth from Kentucky and Salina from Indiana when he came to visit his Aunt and Uncle after his intended changed her mind three days before their wedding back in Kentucky. He didn't smile and was a very sad young man as he worked for his Uncle as a furniture maker.
After a disaster his another Amish community in another county, Salina had the idea of opening a consignment shop for the people in the community that needed help and add to the community emergency fund. Seth's Aunt and Uncle had space for a shop in a barn. This was Salina's idea and they asked her to set up and then run the shop in our of their buildings. Seth helped her set it up as they became closer.
Seth was called home after one of his brother's had an accident and his family needed him to come home to Kentucky to help. A flood in Kentucky brought Salina to help and find Seth wanting to marry her.
I enjoyed a look at the Amish way of life and how they lived and followed their rules even when troubles came their way. The Amish way of helping others in the community, the courting etiquite and traditions and respect for all memebers of the community being a big part of their way of life was interesting. The strong family bonds and love for each other and all members of the community give the plot depth and honesty in a way of life based on a strong belief in God (Gott).

Who doesn't love a sweet story about the Amish and their loving ways of helping their neighbors out in their time of need? Young Salina is happy raising her rabbits and isn't in any rush to marry after her last interest married someone else. Though her Mamm has other ideas and is constantly inviting perspective gentlemen to supper. Then Seth comes to his aunt and uncles house nursing a broken heart. He wants to be some place that he isn't constantly reminding him of his broken heart. A tragic storm wrecks havoc on a nearby community, and Seth's uncle agrees to using one of his outbuildings to store donated items for the people effected by the storm. Salina wants to help and comes up with the idea of a consignment shop. Will love bloom between Seth and Salina while working together on the consignment shop or will another disaster tear them apart? Like all the other books written by this author, you will fall in love with the characters and share their joy and heartaches. Also you will always have that one person that sticks their nose where it doesn't belong and makes you want to reach inside the pages and give them a good shaking. In this case, it is Salina's Mamm and her meddling ways.I hope that you will enjoy reading about all the animals , including a blue-tailed lizard named Henry. Wow a wonderful read!
My most favorite thing? It waa set in Marysville, Ohio whoo hoo!! I was delighted and surprised for sure and certain! I was born and raised there is why I was excited to see it mentioned.
This was so good! I finished it in one evening because I didn't want to put it down!
Wonderful characters and storyline. "Sigh"
I loved every minute of this book. Im still thinking about it actually.
It seems that whenever something happens Amish and English alike always comes together at difficult times such as the tornado that came through. Or 9/11 where everyone came together to help support one another. I think it's great but I wish it was like that all the time.
I loved Salina instantly. I wanted to give her a hug and tell her that everything will turn out ok in God's timing.
Seth is a nice character too. I also enjoyed in getting to know him. Handsome too.
This is definitely a reread for me in the future. You're not going to want to put it down once you start it.
Many reminders of God's love for us throughout the story.
Seth and Salina made laugh out loud with their thoughts and banter. I was rooting for them all through this beautiful story of love, hope, faith,and overcoming past hurts. God can do anything! We need only to ask and pray to Him.

A Heart on Consignment is a sweet Amish romantic fiction novel with some humor thrown in as well. You’ll love it! I’m a huge fan of Amish fiction. Normally, I’m a thriller or historical fiction type of girl, but this genre has grabbed a piece of my heart. We have a lot of Mennonites in our area (yes, I know, not the same), and I have some friends among them.
Salina knows she needs to marry. She wants to marry. But every time she thinks she has the one, he ends up marrying another one. So, what’s she to do?! Her parents are meddling as well. They want grandkids after all.
Add in a big storm, and Salina finds a purpose. She’s opening a consignment shop! Something to focus on and get her mind off not being able to find a husband.
Then, the nephew of a deacon is offered to help her. He’s been unlucky in love as well, as his fiancée called off their wedding. Is the deacon just wanting to make sure this succeeds, or does he have some ulterior motives? We know Salina’s parents do!

A Heart on Consignment by Mindy Steele is a lovely addition to The Heart of the Amish series. Mindy Steele’s writing style is engaging, approachable, and accessible. The characters are developed and relatable. I enjoyed getting to know Salina Stoltzfus and Sean Weaver as well as their families and friends. I felt for Salina, whose mother was determined to find the right fellow for her daughter (and one who lived in another state was not suitable). Salina felt that she was too short, had mousy hair, and a plain face. It takes the right person to see an individual’s inner beauty, and a smile can transform a person’s face. Seth and Salina get the opportunity to work together and get to know each other. As we see, love often develops unexpectedly and in unlikely places. It is wonderful how Amish communities help each other during tough times (tornado, fires, floods) and we get to see it in action in this story. The ending left me wanting more (it felt incomplete). I wish there had been an epilogue. A Heart on Consignment is the twelfth book in The Heart of the Amish series, and it can be read as a standalone. A Heart on Consignment is an uplifting tale with a battered heart, a twisty tornado, a matchmaking mama, a shed shop, overflowing riverbanks, and a caring community.

Poor Salina! She considers herself a wallflower who will probably never marry, but her parents want their only child married...soon! It doesn't seem to matter that Salina wants love to come before marriage. If only she could find a husband who would also be her true and lasting love!
I'm always amazed by this author's ability to create characters who are so realistically endearing. Salina sometimes talks too much, and this often happens when she's around a young Amish newcomer in Havenlee. Is it possible that this brokenhearted visitor will recognize the true worth of a sweet, talkative "wallflower"?
I enjoyed watching Salina and Seth fake a romance to pacify Salina's family and friends, and I loved Seth's willingness to be a part of this pretend relationship. There's also a natural disaster that showcases the true Amish values we all admire. When tragedy strikes, they are the first to step up to help!
A Heart on Consignment has well-defined characters, intriguing plot developments, and inspiring faith. I recommend it to all who enjoy friendship, family, and Amish romance.

Salina was so beaten and down on herself at the beginning of the book. I hated to see her mother and “friends” continually bring up her “failure” to capture the attention of a man. It was very hard to see her continually reminded of her “shortcomings” . Seth was also heart broken and running away from the constant questions.. I really enjoyed watching Salina and Seth work together to help others, and in the process help themselves. This was such a sweet read. I highly recommend it to readers of Sweet and Amish romance.
