Moonstone Bay #17

From Fear to Eternity

Rate this book
Hadley Hunter is living a great life with her fiancé and friends on a magical tropical island with all the crab legs and frozen margaritas in the world. Their only worry is a foul-mouthed parrot who seems to be stalking them. Then the unthinkable happens.
Her grandfather disappears from his ranch, and the only clue is a symbol burned into one of the fields. While searching for him, Hadley is accidentally transported to a different plane … and her life is cast into upheaval.
Not only is there a killer on the loose on that plane – one who wants Hadley’s magic to mount an escape so he can destroy what she holds most dear – but she’s also brought face to face with a ghost who looks exactly like her mother. The ghost asks the right questions and seems to know who she is but Hadley is suspicious … even as part of her doesn’t’ want to be.
Upon making it home, it becomes obvious that the shadowy killer is trying to make his way to Moonstone Bay. He has a past there … and it’s not a nice one.
It’s going to take all of Hadley’s efforts — as well as those of her friends – to solve this one. Who is the shadow on the other plane? Why does he want to come back? More importantly, who is that ghost with Hadley’s mother’s face?
Things are about to get crazy on Moonstone Bay. This time, when the dust settles, things will never be the same.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Don't you just hate it when you have the wrong villain.

Hadleys mother died giving birth to her so Hadley never had a relationship with her now she's living in Moonstone Bay where her mother grew up and where paranormal people abound (including ghosts) Hadleys grandmother also happens to be a ghost . This story begins with Hadleys grandfather going missing. When Hadley and Galen go out to his farm to.join the search for him Hadley ends up falling through a plane (a door to another dimension) door. The plane on the other side resembles one's image of Hell with sulphur in the air, volcanos and red skies. Waiting there near the door is the ghost of Hadleys mother. It's a massive shock, so is this really her mother or someone or something during to trick Hadley and if so why? To what end?...............and where's her grandfather Wesley

Hadley and Galen are approaching their wedding day, at last! (Been waiting for this through all 16 previous books which have been delightfully hilarious and zany). But of course, this is part of living on a secret magical island with intriguing magical friends, and Hadley is somehow the mayor (she still hasn’t figured out how or why she ended up with the job, which is even more entertaining).

When Hadley gets the frantic call that her beloved grandfather is missing with no explanation, she, her fiancé Galen - island sheriff of Moonstone Bay island, his best friend the Cupid Booker, Aurora their siren friend, Lilac, their part demon friend and a host of the locals get involved in the search to bring Harley’s beloved grandfather home.

That is just the beginning of the wild, witchy and wonderful tale the story has to offer! The novel is filled with action, chase sequences, alternate worlds accessed by hidden plane doors, and a close knit community that is warm and endearing throughout the series and best friends you will want for your own. Chock full of laughter and excitement, and the villains as astonishing as their demise, and as with all vastly entertaining novels and series by the talented Ms Lee, a totally worthwhile read

from fear to eternity, book 17, to back through to book one

Gotta hand it to the author! Not many series hold my interest, but this one did. Just write one more book to finish it off with style, please.
There have been many series I’ve started and they fizzled in holding my attention. Not this one! They, each book and more importantly - the rest of the group, were all fairly entertaining with humor, bits of sadness, and characters who held your interest and pulled you into the storyline.
Though Hadley in here own right was a good character, I strongly felt it was the supporting ones - Galen, Booker, Lilac, Aurora, Wesley, May, Brody, Jareth, and Marjory - that made it well worth reading.
In this particular story, same still went.
Hadley fumbled and everyone came to her rescue once again.
Best part - Emma! What a great surprise!
I do hope there is just one more book for the author to wrap it up full circle. Yeah, the wedding where Hadley’s dad gets one more chance to say goodbye to Emma. Where Julian and Galen finally come to terms with the past. And Marjory, too.
We need to attend the big day for Hadley and Galen.

Amanda M. Lee was quite philosophical in the following excerpt:

“Gertie didn’t look at her, instead training her eyes back on me. ‘You don’t have to apologize for wanting that to be your mother.’ Galen protested. ‘I just want her to be realistic.’
‘Why do you get to decide what’s realistic?’ Gertie challenged.
‘I’m not trying to dictate to her.’
‘Not on purpose,’ Gertie agreed. ‘You are, however, trying to tell her what to feel in a vain attempt to mitigate her hopes.’ She leaned forward. ‘You can’t stop her from getting hurt by demanding she not believe.’”

Hadley falls into another rabbit hole aka plane door and is met by her mom. The mom that died nearly 30 years prior. The mom that is a zombie in the local cemetery. Ya, that mom. Hadley is convinced the lady is her mom, but Gavin isn’t so sure.

As always, there is a lot of moosh and naughty between Hadley and Gavin. And of course there’s a struggle between good and evil - Hadley will stubbornly charge in feet first to fight the enemy alongside her friends. This time the players are just a tad different, but they’ll appear in future books in this series.

Ms. Lee outdid herself this time!

First, I enjoyed Gareth playing a bigger role in this story than usual. He is an interesting character.
There is quite a lot of angst going on, for good reason; Westly is missing!
So is May, and while they are presumed to be together, no one knows for sure.
Secrets come out, tension mounts, the friends plan a rescue, and Hadley stumbles, (literally), into action.
There is a little talk of the coming wedding, including wedding cake tasting, but Hadley, Jarrod, and the gang have much more on their plates than cake; wedding cake not withstanding.
Will their combined magic be enough to conquer this new/old threat, or will Hadley's impulsive actions cost her more than she can stand to lose?
Read this latest book in my favorite series by this author and find out!
Note: These books should be read in order!
Enjoy!

Hadleys mom is back

This book started out with a mystery about one of the islands worst residents. He was believed to have been a serial killer. He also disappeared some 20 years ago. When answers come from unexpected places and Hadley ends up on another plane searching for Wesley her grandfather who has gone missing. Hadley is shocked to see her mother who died during childbirth 30 years ago. The whole group bands together to solve this strange mystery. When Galen’s mother Marjory admits to being involved in removal of the serial killer many years ago by employing magical means, answers to what is happening become more clear.
I really enjoy these books. The group of friends is tight knit and always willing to help each other. I love that loved ones are still around in spirit form to be a part of Hadleys life. I’m looking forward for the next book.

Hadley wakes to her grandfather missing. She finds a strange symbol on her grandfather’s land and then finds herself on another plane. Hadley also runs into her mother or at least someone who looks like her mother. The team must figure out who is behind the plane door and how to stop them. Julian is looking at property and it might be related to a serial killer that disappeared. Galen wants to create the perfect wedding for Hadley and his mother, Marjorie is trying to exert her influence. Eventually Majorie reveals that she knows more than she is letting on. Hadley hopes the ghost is her mother and that she can get to know her, but everyone is trying to dampen her enthusiasm and remind her it’s probably a trick.

Well, that was a twist that I didn't expect.

I forgot that the next book was due out, so I was pleasantly surprised when this popped up in my recommendations this morning.

I've enjoyed this series since I first discovered it years ago go, and I this latest addition is no exception. The characters are fun, the setting suits the adventures/shenanigans so well, and I find myself itching to discover what's going to happen. This story may deal with the usual paranormal investigation, but so many dangling plot threads were touched upon in this story that I flew through the book in one sitting. So much fun - but still no wedding - and who knows where book 18 will take us.

Dreams Really Do Come True...Sometimes.

Hadley is preparing for her wedding when the unexpected, and terrifying disappearance of two of those closest to her seems to unleash an ancient evil to reemerge. Will Hadley and her friends be able to vanquish the evil? Will all of Hadley's dreams finally come true?

This was a thrilling installment in the Moonstone Bay series. I loved it!

The cemetery puzzle solved

Another great story from Moonstone Bay. I enjoy the interaction between the characters as they solve each problem. The supporting cast of characters and also interesting and charming. This book had added interest in the cemetery and the folks buried there. The outcome brings a whole new storyline that will be very interesting for the entire island. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

A Fantastic Story

I love all of Ms. Lee's books but this one touched me. As someone who has lost a parent. I love that wishes can come true. The characters in this book are perfect for their partners and as a group of best friends. I recommend starting at the beginning of this series to see how the characters develop and grow into a fearsome four. The ending was excellent!

I liked the book, and things are really coming together for Hadley. I know it's her character, but Hadley acts a little childish at times, so Galen or Booker will call her cute or adorable when she says things that they think are wrong. Having said that, I do want to read the next book to see what happens at Moonstone Bay during Hadley and Galen's wedding.

Hadley is accident prone! Who goes thru plane doors like her? She quickly finds out what is going on. Her grandfather going missing sets everything in motion. With wedding talk I hope we get closer the the day Hadley and Gladen say "I do"! On the next adventure!😉💚💙

Your not the boss of me. I know this is book 17 but I just have trouble with the lead characters childish behavior. She needs to become an adult
