A Penny For Your Thoughts

Leah

Between a series of subpar one-night-stands, my family’s toxic behavior, and a new business venture, my stress is at an all time high. One night with local game warden Nick Foster could be just what I need to relieve the tension.

Unfortunately, we’re part of a new blended friend group. And I don’t do strings. Even worse, ever since Nick helped when I had too much to drink, he watches over me like I’m one sip away from a blackout. It’s not that serious; I just like to take the edge off.

How am I supposed to find release when he keeps scaring off all of my would-be one-night-stands?

Nick

It’s funny how one night can change your life forever. Like the night my best friend met his fiance. The same night I met Leah Van Hoff, who was too wasted to walk thanks to her companion for the night. Her friends are concerned with her increased drinking, so I do what any good friend would do and keep an eye on her when I have the chance.

Unfortunately, now she thinks I’m intentionally scaring off potential suitors. I’m not. We’re just friends. Even if my growing attraction to her threatens to derail that.

She just needs to see she’s worth more than a quick lay.

A Penny For Your Thoughts is book one in the Bull Creek series. It's a small town, slow burn romance that touches on complex themes. The series features characters from The Fallout Duet in a new set of interconnected standalone romances.

Leah and Nick's story was an emotional rollercoaster. Leah has gone through so much in her life, she's made her life so much better than it was growing up. When her nephew and niece needed her, she was there, no questions asked. Nick was always there in the background supporting her until she was ready. He did everything he could to prove to her that she was worth love and happiness.

I finished this book in like 5 hours it was so good I couldn’t put it down. Nick is a great guy from the start and you can tell from every interaction we have with him. Leah has so much trauma from her childhood and watching her niece and nephew go through the same thing is breaking her but nick does an amazing job helping her hold it all together. The support system of her found family throughout this book is really beautiful. I am so happy that Leah finally trusted Nick and tried something different for herself and that she had her best friends cheering her on. Also when Nick stands up to his parents I melted. Love them and their story. Thank you so much for the ARC of this book I loved it 🤍

This was a perfectly romantic and an equally heavy read, and a definitive new favorite of mine!

What a wild ride! I loved every second of this book, even the heavy parts. The author seamlessly blended sweet and spicy moments with important topics, and didn't give me a moment of rest the whole time. I started reading and simply could not stop until I was finished. I adored Nick from the start — his sweetness and protective nature — but Leah was the star of this story. The author put so much into her character, and I loved seeing her grow and finally find peace. Her story is extremely heavy, but I loved how the romance stayed at the center and helped tie it all neatly together. I hated seeing her suffer, moving from one problem to another, but I also loved how she stayed true to herself and found her way through it! The relationship didn't diminish her strength in any way, only helped her get there sooner. These two were seriously amazing!

Highly recommend this one to everyone who loves a small town setting, wild FMCs finding what was missing in constantly reassuring MMCs, no third act breakups (there was the slightest fight that was resolved immediately), great spiciness, and the sweetest found family! I'd definitely recommend checking the trigger warnings first, although the author handled these sensitive topics amazingly!

A huge thank you to Love Notes PR and the author for sending me an ARC of this book!

You know those books that just grab you by the heart and don’t let go? 🩷 That’s exactly how this one felt.

Leah’s story was raw and real. She’s carrying so much, but watching her slowly let those walls down was powerful. And then there’s Nick… ugh, Nick. The way he saw all of her, the messy and the beautiful, and loved her harder for it? Absolute perfection.

🔥 Their chemistry? Off the charts, even when they were both trying to pretend it wasn’t there.

I was totally invested in this read with all sorts of emotions. The found family dynamic added so much heart, the moments with the little ones had me melting.

Honestly, this story gave me everything I wanted: love that feels real, characters worth rooting for, and a journey that sticks with you long after the last page.

Highly recommend reading!

Thank you Amanda for allowing me to ARC read this beauty!

ARC review:

Such a sweet story. It’s nice to sometimes break away from the fantasy and read “real” characters, characters that make you feel like you know them personally. These are flawed people but they make it work. The depth of this story was breathtaking. There are so many highs and lows that you can find commonality between you and the characters. The story intermingled with the spice was “chefs kiss”. Definitely glad I opted for this story.

‼️ ARC Review! ‼️

This book has a special place in my heart, and is definitely sitting in my top 5 of the year.

I absolutely adore both Leah and Nick. Their growth, and their love for everything they do. The chosen family aspect is an instant yes for me, and the way I sobbed during some of those scenes made my heart so happy! I cannot recommend this book enough, and I cannot wait to read more of Amanda’s work!

This was an emotional rollercoaster. Leah the FMC has gone through a lot in her life, she stood up when she was needed and made her life more than what it was when she was growing up. Her resilience and strength really shine through the pages. Nick the MMC was always there, supportive and caring. He is patient and kind. He was there waiting for the appropriate time,
but never pressured. It was sweet and I can't wait for the next installment.

This book is indeed a slow burn. Slowly, it tends to let us think: "ok, good, but isn't it supposed to be a 18+ book?". Truth to myself, I almost DNF'd it.

But you keep reading and reading... and all of a sudden you reach chapter 25. And it's like a nuclear bomb falls right on you. Jesus, Amanda, Jesus... my voyeur soul was right there, in that living room, watching without being able to look away not even 1 second.

And that filthy mouth Nick has? Wow! You hide it so well throughout 24 chapters, girl. Again, wow!

But that is not all Nick has to offer. He is a caring, and protective, and hardworking man. And a friend to his friends. And genuinely good. What a well written this MMC is.

I can say with certainty I LOVED this book and it will stay as a favorite.

Please bring us more Bull Creek stories. We want to stay there a bit more.

Thanks to the author @amanda.marquardt.author and Love Notes PR @lovenotes.pr for the ARC.

some my favorite quotes:

"I'm saying you're worth far more than one night."
"I could prove it to you." He says it like a promise.

His eyes dart back and forth between mine.
"F*ck it."

I just had the best first kiss of my life. And I'm scared to death it will never happen again.

my hands ache to memorize the feel of her skin. Every curve and dip. Her warmth.

"I want you,” I say firmly.

he breathes, the desire written all over his face battling with a type of wonder instead.

no one has ever looked at me the way Nick is now. Like I’m a treasure, a masterpiece, something to worship.

no one has ever told me what to do before. Not this way. There’s something intoxicating about it, even if it’s killing me.

One warm palm cups my cheek. “Do you understand? If you want me, you give me all of you. Every want, every need, every darkness.”
I nod, because I can’t formulate a response.

“You’re a f*cking goddess. You deserve to be worshiped, cherished, pleasured.”

I lower my voice. “What are you keeping yourself from reaching for right now?”
“You.” Her answer is immediate.

“I’m not begging,” she says firmly.
“Maybe you should.”
“Never going to happen.”
I wonder if she realizes the challenge she’s created.

She’s tear-streaked and breathless from laughter when I set her down. It’s a sound I want to hear every day for the rest of my life.

"I’ve told you how f*cking badly I want you. So badly that I want you all to myself. Every piece. A real glutton.”

It actually hurts my heart to have him standing outside acting like a boyfriend who did something wrong. It’s so far from the truth. Everything he does is right.

“Now, are you ready for me to show you exactly how well we fit? Because we are a perfect fit.” His eyes gleam as he looks down at me.

“I can’t get enough of you,” he whispers.

I think he might love me. And falling for him may have been gradual, but I have. So deeply and indisputably.

From the very first page I was hooked by Leah’s voice. She is messy, funny and raw in a way that makes her feel completely real. Between her complicated family dynamics, her reliance on casual flings and her struggle to keep her head above water, Leah immediately pulled me in. I loved how authentically her character was written and you cannot help but root for her even when she is at her most chaotic.

Nick, on the other hand, is her perfect opposite. Guarded, grounded and quietly observant, he has a protective streak that is both frustrating to Leah and incredibly endearing to me as a reader. I really enjoyed how his perspective balanced Leah’s, showing us how deeply he sees her even when she tries to hide behind her bravado.

The chemistry between them builds slowly and when it finally ignites, the sparks fly. Amanda Marquardt did such a fantastic job of making their connection feel earned. Even in the rough moments, when Leah’s instinct is to push him away, Nick’s loyalty never falters. That steady devotion made their love story feel all the more powerful.

Beyond the romance, what really stood out to me were the friendships and found family vibes woven throughout the story. Leah may have her share of family toxicity but the bonds she has with her friends shine just as brightly as her relationship with Nick. When everything comes together in the end the payoff is so satisfying.

The ending was absolutely perfect for these two and the epilogue gave me that warm, happy feeling I always look for in this kind of romance. It was the right way to close their story while still leaving me excited for what is next in the Bull Creek series.

Omg! I love this book! I am so glad that I was lucky enough to be a beta reader for this! I don’t even know where to begin.

Continuing off of The Fallout Duet, we see characters from that series. But now the focus is on their friends, Leah and Nick. While you don’t have to read that series to know what is going on, I recommend that you do. But you can absolutely read this book and not be lost if you haven’t.

Leah is trying to make it this world and not repeat the mistakes of her mother and sister. She wants a stable life. A place to call home, that can’t be taken away. Leah does keep things to herself. Her family showed her that she can’t trust or rely on those around her because they will always leave in the end. This is why the only relationships she has are with her closest friends and her niece and nephew. Romantic relationships are out of the question.

Of course Nick comes to change this question. Repeatedly showing Leah that he is there to stay. He doesn’t just one night with her, but everything, every night. Even when her life is blowing up and she’s just trying to stay above water and provide for her niece and nephew, Nick is there. He doesn’t see her as a mess but as so much more.

But like seriously where can I find a man like Nick? He is such a good guy and exactly what Leah (and I) need. But not to discount Leah, she is such a strong woman. She continues to consistently provide for her niece and nephew, when her sister fails. And all while dealing with her own life, but never once letting the kids suffer. She is a force and the kinda of fmc you love to read. She doesn’t need a man to come in and save her, but it’s nice to have help.

This book gave all the feelings and I was here for all of them! So I recommend you read this as soon as you can.

➡️Come for the slow-burn romance, stay for the heartfelt characters. Leah’s strength and Nick’s “all green flags” energy will steal your heart and leave you smiling long after you’re done. 💚

A Penny for Your Thoughts is a tender and heartwarming read 💖, driven not by grand plot twists, but by the quiet power of human connection.

From the very first chapters, I found myself growing attached to Leah, Nick, and the rest of the wonderfully real supporting cast. It’s rare to encounter characters who feel so authentic, and reading their story felt like a balm for the soul 🌿.

While I found the pacing a touch long at times- and think it could have worked just as well in a slightly shorter form this slower rhythm also gave the story space to breathe, allowing me to linger with the characters and their emotions.

The romance is a true slow burn 🔥, unfolding with patience and care as we come to understand Leah’s past and see the steadfast kindness of Nick-an all-around “green flag” hero 💚.

The spicy scenes were perfectly balanced- neither too much nor too little and written with just the right amount of heat to complement the emotional depth 🌶️

And in the end, Nick shows Leah something she had never truly believed: that no matter where she came from or what her past has held, she is every bit as valuable, and every bit as lovable, as anyone else ❤️

Highly recommended to anyone who loves heartwarming small-town stories 🏡, filled with lovable characters and a truly captivating romance. ❤️‍🔥

I always find it slightly challenging to relate to a lot of FMC’s but Leah’s character was so relatable for me that I don’t think another one will top it. Maybe not so much in her childhood but the internal turmoil she feels about her life and herself. The facade she puts on the outside versus the way she feels inside. Carrying everything on her shoulders. This was probably the best part of the book for me; relating so much to a character and watching her get everything she deserves. Her story came at a time when I really felt like I needed to read it, so it really hit home for me.

The story in general is stunning and, of course, I adore Nick. Pretty sure he’s beaten Sutton for Bull Creek book boyfriend (still holding out for James’ story though lol). Another thing I love is the friend groups and support systems in this community. They are just all so amazing and it makes me rethink my introverted ways. I think this book also brings so many important topics to the surface and I am just so blown away at how well this story is written.

Oh, and the spice? Absolutely FABULOUS! The shower scene… 🥵🫠🥰

While it isn’t totally necessary, I would suggest reading When Sparks Fly and When the Smoke Clears before this book because 1. You’re going to love it here anyways and 2. Those books are freaking amazing as well. The end of When Sparks Fly will have your mouth hanging open, no joke. If you choose not to start with those, this book may spoil them.

“Take what you want”
“I already have what i want”❤️
“I love you, Leah” “I’m completely and utterly in love with you. Every fucking beautiful, broken, crazy, adorable thing about you. I love every piece.”🫶🏻
Nick and Leah are amazing and i love them so much 🤭
Nick foster is a game warden and has a boy-next-door charm. Leah is the badass baby of the group. Leah doesn’t get involves beyond one night and Nick has not been seen with any girl lately. But there is a spark every time they meet. And they bring forth the sides they haven’t witnessed. 🎀
Nick is such a gentleman, god damn🤭. In bed and after bed there is something about nick foster that amazes me so much. The way he loves, supports and handle Leah’s insecurities is beyond commendable. 😭
Leah on the other hand has been through a shitty past and is full of insecurities and thus avoid connection but when it comes to Nick she couldn’t deny the truth. The way she deals with the problem. I AM A FAN OF LEAH. 🥰She is simply amazing. And the way she has stood up for savannah and roman i can’t. ❤️
The found family has been incorporated so amazingly it melts my heart.
The side characters esp Roman and Savannah, Love them.
The way Nick takes stand for Leah in front of his Parents. The BEST🫶🏻😭
Although it took me 30% of the book to get into but after that i couldn’t stop.
And bruh anything related to Ice in bed😉 is dead giveaway for me and if you love it too pick this book up, you are gonna love it🤭🤭🤭

I absolutely loved this book! Everything was so perfectly wrote. Nick is such a gentleman when it comes to Leah. Even though they’re just “friends” in the beginning, he’s extremely protective of her. He is the true definition of a man as he worships the ground Leah walks on. He respects her dreams and passions and her but behind closed doors, boy oh boy is he filthy. His adoration and love for Leah seeps through in not only his actions but even in the way he speaks to her. Boy does Leah push his buttons but his love for her never falters.

Leah is a strong unapologetic and mouthy woman. She knows what she wants out of life. Not only is she successful with her jewelry making business but she also decides to take on a huge responsibility when it comes to her sister. She’s willing to take care of everyone but herself until Nick comes along. Nick breaks down her boundaries and pushes her to see her true worth. Even though emotions are high and boundaries begin to cross, she loves Nick with everything she has. Their connection together is tension filled, spicy, and raw. When she reaches her breaking point and relies on Nick to be her anchor was my favorite part.

This story was beautiful, tender, and genuine. Nick brings out the best in Leah and Leah brings Nick everything he could ever ask for - a family, a life, and a future.

This is hands down one of my top reads so far this year. Leah and Nick’s story was an emotional rollercoaster. So raw and real I couldn’t help but devour them.

Leah was such a relatable character, carrying everything on her own, not wanting to burden anyone with her problems. She’s determined to be independent and not to repeat the mistakes of her mom and sister. She puts walls amongst walls up in order to keep everyone out so she’s not disappointed when they leave. Using sex and alcohol to reinforce those walls.

Everything is going the way she planned until Nick shakes everything up. He quickly realizes his perception of Leah is completely wrong. She’s so much more than the free-spirited party girl. The way this man takes care of her without smothering her is insane. I adore the way he jumped in and seriously NEVER left her, even when she tried pushing him. ALSO. Nick might be a gentlemen in the streets, but a total freak in the sheets 🥵. The spice between these two was SPICIN.

The emotion in this book took me by surprise. As much as I loved Maci and Sutton in the Fall Out Duet, APFYT easily became my favorite of Amanda’s books. Leah and Nick’s story will forever have a piece of my heart.

An unforgettable start to the Bull Creek series!

Amanda Marquardt delivers a heartfelt, compelling story in A Penny For Your Thoughts. Nick absolutely stole my heart—he’s the quintessential Boy Scout: dependable, tender, and genuinely good. But don’t mistake his kindness for blandness—when it comes to intimacy, he’s anything but innocent! His balance of strength and gentleness makes him one of the most memorable romance heroes I’ve read in a while.

Leah, on the other hand, is a bit of a wild mess—flawed, chaotic, and sometimes her own worst enemy—but her love runs deep and true. Watching her journey is both raw and moving, and it’s impossible not to root for her as she collides with Nick’s steady warmth.

What really struck me were the heavier themes woven through the romance. The story doesn’t shy away from the painful realities of child neglect and the scars it leaves behind. Yet, it’s ultimately a novel about healing, love, and the power of found family. The emotional weight only makes the romance that much more powerful and satisfying.

I laughed, I cried, and I couldn’t put it down. If you love small-town romance with real emotional depth, characters you’ll fall for instantly, and a story that lingers in your heart long after the last page—this book is for you. I can’t wait to dive deeper into the Bull Creek series!

Having read and loved The Fallout Duet by Amanda Marquardt, I knew I had to read A Penny For Your Thoughts as soon as possible.

Leah and Nick's story is raw, emotional, and real. Oh, it's definitely romantic as well, but the intimacy isn't just spicy or Nick's filthy mouth. It's that slow burn as Nick and Leah's friendship morphs into a romance. That slow burn absolutely aches deep in your chest and then warms you up from the inside out. The kind that makes you sigh at the end before flipping back to page 1 and starting all over again.

As well as the romance, there's also the intimacy of friendships, the friends who stick by you through everything, the friends who truly do become your family. I really just can't say enough good things about this book and how much I absolutely loved it.

With that, if you've read The Fallout Duet, you'll meet some characters from those books. It's not essential to read that duet to understand what's going on here, but those books are just as good as this one. Marquardt is truly so good at emotional and raw romance.

So, what are you still doing here? Get to reading!

“You’re my steady boy scout.”

This story was very emotional. My heart broke for Roman and Banana, but it also made me happy that they got to see and feel what true love and family are.

I really enjoyed Leah's journey and growth. How she finally admitted to herself, that there was nothing else she could do to help her sister, because you can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves. I also really enjoyed the relationship between Nate and Leah, and how it evolved from friends to lovers. This was not your typical mutual pining, it's always been you, friends to lovers type of story that we're used to. Nate and Leah were really just friends in the beginning, which I believe made this story feel more real and relatable to us readers.

I loved how supportive Nate was, and how he didn't care that Leah was a package deal which included Roman and Savannah. In fact, he wouldn't have had it any other way. I also gotta say that I gotta agree with Roman, cookies are better than pennies.

Quote: “He’s dangerous. I might call him a boy scout, but I don’t actually dismiss him as such. He’s more like a Swiss Army Knife. He’s capable of things I can’t even imagine, and I’m afraid if I use it, I’ll be lost without it.”

ARC REVIEW

What a wonderful and sweet story.

We have 2 very different characters who had very different lives that come together in comfort and love.

Leah has got a heavy weight on her shoulders. She is extremely talented, caring, and deserving of so much love. She is easily relatable and has many flaws just like us. She has a lot to deal with and no way of knowing how to handle it.

Thankfully we have Nick, who opens her heart and shows her that she has so many people willing to help and be there for her. I fell in love with him from the Fallout Duet and knew he would be perfect for her and he was!!

Nick is very straight up kind of guy. He is loyal, strong, caring, and very honorable. You can clearly see the difference between him and Sutton, which is very appealing.

This story takes a more serious and impactful plot that touches your heart. It has community, found family, and love.

Mind you, this couple is a very realistic extremely slow Slow Burn. Their relationship takes time to build since they are part of a friendship/found family group. They care and don't want to ruin things should anything happen.

I absolutely loved her sister's kids. They were adorable, But I do wish there were more bonding scenes with Nick and them. To create more of a parental feeling because I didn't really feel that. Whenever, they appeared in the book, I get so happy. Their situation was sad and they deserve better which they got!

This couple were complex and had many layers. It was great to see this kind of realistic portrayal of characters in a book.

P.S. I do want more of that Lawyer!!! and also Liv. lol

What a beautiful, emotional read! This was my first Amanda Marquardt book and it will certainly not be my last.

THOUGHTS 💭
💕 Leah is a free spirit who feels trapped in her current situation with her family and her job and her life. Nick is a good boy game warden who can’t help but fall for Leah’s “mess.” And I absolutely loved them together.
💕 Small town romances where found family is a staple are some of my absolute favorites. Maci and Sammi and the gang are loving and supportive and funny and just THERE for each other.
💕 The nicknames!! “Wild Thing” and “Boy Scout” were so fun and sweet.
💕 This book wasn’t just about family and love; there were some tough themes that our characters wrestled with, like alcoholism, a traumatic childhood, flaky, selfish family members, and lots of guilt.
💕The slow burn between Nick and Leah simmers until it explodes into some hot as sin spice that I couldn’t get enough of!
💕 My heart breaks for Leah, Savannah, and Ronan as they navigate life when family lets you down. I’m so glad that they had their found family to lean on.

Thanks so much to Amanda Marquardt and Love Notes PR for the ARC of this book!

I have waited for Leah’s story and boy it did not disappoint, Leah and Nick were the perfect match for each other and I just loved everything about them both. Nick is the perfect book boyfriend who will build you up and have you feeling confident especially when it comes to toys 😉

Amanda has a way with her words where you feel everything on a deeper level with the characters. Leah is such a relatable character for so many people and the emotional pull towards her character is so strong. I loved that Leah didn’t rely solely on Nick to help her through her rough patches but rather glided through them with him by her side.

The sexual tension throughout the book will have you gripping the pages just waiting for them to connect on a deeper level. While this is a slow burn it was so worth the wait especially with Nick and his filthy mouth with have you wanting more.

The found family in this book was a breath of fresh air as we saw in previous books, they have such an amazing group of friends who would do anything for each other and I loved getting to see glimpses of everyone again.

Amanda just keeps them coming! If you read either or hopefully read both of the Fallout Duet books you have met both Leah and Nick. Leah is a jewerly designer who is finally trying to take that step to start up her own business. She has had a rough childhood and she keeps on surviving, while trying to ensure her niece and nephew doesn’t have to endure the same as she did. She has built walls to ensure that no one gets to close to hurt and Nick is just the man to start chipping away one brick at a time. Nick is a Game Warden who loves his job but can’t meet his father’ s high expectations. You are on an emotional rollercoaster of real-life trauma that life throws at you while buckled into the seat with them. A slow-burn romance that you definitely need to ensure you are along for the entirety of the ride. Leah had be from laughing and to crying back to laughing at the strong person that she is especially the way she is with her niece and nephew and when she lets her walls down with Nick and they all become their own little family. I can’t wait to see what happens next and what surprises are instore!

My first book by this author and I loved it!!!

I am a sucker for found family romance and this book was the perfect amount of heartfelt drama and small town romance. The storyline was so powerful, and Leah, hidden behind all that smart sass and one liners was a vulnerable cinammon roll who just needed Nick to bring out her soft side. Nick was the perfect gentleman with a filthy mouth, what’s not to love… 👀😂 a really heartfelt story & the character growth and development was great!!!

The female friendships in this book might have been even better to read than the romance!! I always love that! Only critique was I didn’t love how the alcoholism was seen as a major issue for Leah and then suddenly it wasn’t. She decided to stop drinking and then it was never touched upon again in the book when it had been heavily mentioned throughout. Not a major issue but I would have liked to have seen more about that journey.

4 ⭐️ will definitely recommend and be reading more from this author.

A Penny for my Thoughts? 🔥 This book is everything I didn’t know I needed to read! Most troupes I’ve read consist of a wild man, never a wild thing! She is feisty, determined, and scarred. He is the boy scout in more ways than one. Clashing together creating this beautiful intertwined mesh of uncertainty, fear, hope, love, and family! Add in a date auction for the day before Valentines… my heart can’t take this! 😍 Grab yourself an iced beverage, some cookies, and relax, if you can 🔥🔥🔥, with this deliciously written novel. Oh! And the way the title is introduced in the book will have your heart absolutely melting. 🥰 Releasing in 10 days everyone!!!!👏

The spice level for this book sits right at about what you could share with a friends book club.

ARC Review

First of all, thank you to the author for this lovely opportunity.

A penny for your thoughts is an open door romance that is slowly paced. It is filled with love, some intense chemistry, emotions and depth. It brings to light what family dysfunction and finding your place in the world could possibly be. It shows how sometimes family that is blood is not always the family that is good for you while the family you make and choose while you go through life is the right one.

I have felt like the characters were all welcoming and loving and they make and choose the family they want. I love the characters and their personalities.

There were times when the book was going very slow but towards the ending, everything started to move very quickly. I would have preferred if there was a bit of slowness at the end and a little more fast pacing in the middle of the book.

Overall 3.9⭐️

Nick & Leah are going to put you through the wringer with the emotions and the will they or won't they, but I promise you the ride is extremely satisfying. This is a slow burn well worth its wait in gold.

Your heart will connect with Leah's struggles on a deep level. She is such a relatable FMC, especially how her past shaped her present. Nick is a perfect gentleman in the streets and an absolute freak in the sheets and I was here for every bit of his hotness. I adored his patience with Leah and how he built her up and helped her work through her insecurities. His green flag energy was loud, and exactly what Leah needed to crumble the walls she had built around her heart.

The found family that is the "Bull Creek gang" are so incredible. They rallied for Leah and supported her dreams when her self doubt was at its highest. I am so invested in this small town and cannot wait for more.

*I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Soooo…WOW
I absolutely DEVOURED this small town romance, this had me, smiling, crying, angry, happy, shocked, the list of emotions goes on.
It didn’t feel like a normal small town romance, this felt so much more emotional and the writing had me in an absolute trance. our FMC Leah is an absolute BADDIE, and her story had me in a chokehold as traumatic as it was (and feeling all the above mentioned emotions), it was worth every second of my time reading her story, our girl deserves the world 🌎.
Not to mention Nick…our golden retriever MMC (until his in the bedroom, because oh lord 😮‍💨) please do yourself a favour and READ THIS BOOK.

This is an EASY 5 star read for a small town romance with 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ , the writing was incredible and I’m so excited to continue the series 🤩

“I’m completely and utterly in love with you. Every fucking beautiful, broken, crazy, adorable, thing about you. I love every piece.”

Omg this book 😭 I absolutely devoured this and am completely obsessed with everything about it 😍

Leah is a broken disastrous hot mess of a woman. She sleeps around she drinks too much and her family dynamics are so dysfunctional! Her sister’s 2 kids are neglected and abused and they end up on Leahs care.

Nick is a man’s man. He’s solid and is the definition of if he wanted to he would. He is intrigued by Leah and never hides that fact. He refuses to be a temporary thing for Leah and it’s so amazing to see how their relationship slowly evolves! I absolutely adore how Leah gets her life together to be a better person for her niece and nephew!
I freaking LOVED this book it was so so well done! Just obsessed 🤩

All Leah is looking for is no strings one night. Floating through life one drink at a time. Her blood family is toxic, the only ones she wants around her is her nephew and niece. Her family is the ones who she wants around her, the ones that she picked, her best friends. Amongst her friends there is Nick. Who helped her when she was at a vulnerable state. Nick keeps a close eye on Leah and checks in on her when everyone can see that she going downhill. Feelings start developing as things within Leah’s life start to crumble. Take in her nephew and niece.
Leah is so scared of losing everyone that the only thing she knows what to do is drink and keep her feelings to herself. I loved Roman & Savannah. Nick & Leah are the perfect couple for each other, once Leah gets through her struggles with herself.
