He’s made a career of doing the right thing, but he might just be her worst mistake.
Dr. Malachi Dobrev is hot, famous, and, as her best friend’s brother, absolutely off-limits. Even though Rija Sanchez has sworn to keep her hands off him, their palpable attraction keeps her coming back for more.
Now, she’s hanging on to the biggest secret of her life. Oh, and a whole lot of vibrators.
When Rija and Mal finally give into temptation with explosive results, something else starts heating up. As Mal’s past catches up with him, putting their lives in danger, suddenly keeping a secret relationship from her BFF is the least of Rija’s worries. Can Rija and Mal make it through together? Or will hooking up with Dr. Do-Right turn out to be her worst, and last, mistake?
Dr. Do-Right is a 50,000 word, standalone novella in the Occupational Hazards universe. For fans of Hearts on the Table, best friend’s brother/off-limits romance, spicy long-distance video chats, a little danger, and lot of vibrators.
5 ⭐️ this was so good!! I am a skeptic novella reader because how can you possibly fit it all in, but my god did Julia ever. the tension, the communication, the drama, well developed characters, it was everything!! and she sets it up for future novellas? I can’t wait 🥵
woah i kind of enjoyed this one yup bcs i finished it one day. periodt. the slow burn in here PHEWWWW the author did right so proud of her. this book is not cringe at all for me, the romance just feel soooo real. i love the characters the friendship between the FMC and her best friend and how they connected and always be there for each other. did i tell you guys that we have best friend’s brother trope in here???? bcs yup the MMC is the FMC’S best friend’s brother. the tensions. the forbidden. the full of secrets. OOOHH LOVED IT. go read this.
Ooh, I really loved this one! It was a nice short read but still did a great job of building the relationship between Rija and Mal. Both characters were awesome in their own right and I loved their chemistry from the very first page. The slow burn felt realistic and I was totally rooting for these two throughout the book. I didn't need the action/suspense storyline, but I don't think it took away from the story at all. Another winner by Julia and she's still on my must-read list!
Pros: • I loved Raji! Her personality shone through, she was empathetic, strong and showed so much growth despite this only being short. I loved her dedication to her friend and how she was willing to sacrifice her own happiness to ensure her friendship remained intact.
• Mal was a great MMC! Emotionally intelligent, supportive, caring and understanding. Despite the lack of communication during the later story, his reasoning behind it is clear – he wanted to protect Raja and his sister at all costs.
• The spicy scenes were fun! This didn’t feel cringe or over-the-top. It was fun and true to the romance and story behind these characters.
• The writing style! I genuinely loved how this was written. It wasn’t overly descriptive for no reason; it had elements of humour woven throughout and it felt like each character had their own distinctive voice.
• Asher and Sonnie! I loved the secondary characters in this, the chemistry was clear to see, and I hope we get to read something about these two in the future!
• I think the author handled the topics included within the trigger warnings, well. I liked that it promoted an open discussion between the couple and created a lovely scene.
Cons:
• Whilst I knew something would happen, I feel like the big plot twist or storyline later, just didn’t work as well for me. I wish we could have had more initial hints about what was going to happen or seen more of that woven throughout the story, so it didn’t just feel to me personally a bit of a filler.
• Along the same lines, i also wish we’d seen more of Mal’s work – specifically with the minor character who becomes involved later on - I think it would have made the overall ending feel much more cohesive, rather than feeling like something had to happen to finish the story.
Whilst i enjoyed this Novella and it packed a great punch, i don't feel like i can give it anymore than a 3.5 because of the later half.

Doctor Do-Right is the epitome of slow-burn romance and I couldn't get enough of it! From the very first page, the desire between Mal and Rija is palpable and though they never touch, the tension radiates off the page. The angst is so well-done- these characters attempt to maintain boundaries while they battle their attraction and try to respect their best friend and sister's wishes for them to be no more than friends. The anticipation for their first kiss, their first everything, is absolutely worth the wait!
Mal is a total heartthrob- he's protective, strong, and genuinely cares about those he loves, even if that means making some tough decisions. I really appreciated his emotional maturity and communication skills, even through his struggle to protect Rija and his sister.
Rija is equally fantastic- strong, smart, and her lust-fueled interactions with Mal is off the charts. She’s not afraid to stand her ground, and her determination to keep their relationship a secret from her best friend made for some really intense moments. The added romantic suspense kept the pages turning, and I couldn’t put this novella down- just one more chapter turned into finishing the book.
The secondary characters, especially Asher and Sonnie, added even more humor and flirty tension to the story. I really hope they get their own novella because I loved the dynamic they brought to the plot.
This novella had one of the most mature and healthy relationships I've seen, and a plot twist that kept me on the edge of my seat. Doctor Do-Right is the perfect quick, feel-good read!
What a book! Dr. Do - Right is novella length but Julia Fisher packed it full of forbidden feelings, undeniable attraction, and an unexpected turn that made it more than a rom- com! Julia writes well crafted characters and Mal and Raji are no exception. Raji and Sonia are best friends and roommates. Mal is Sonia's brother, and she declares him off limits to Raji if they want to stay friends. Mal and Raji meet and Raji fights the instant attraction as a best friend would! Mal is an accomplished doctor and well known in his field. Raji is a nurse and her parents are doctors who desperately what their daughter to go to medical school. Their background personal issues play a large part in this story and help the reader to understand their actions and reactions. Dr Do Right is a easy, engaging read that will pull on your heart strings and make gasp in surprise. I never saw the twist coming at the end and to me, it pulled the story to a fantastic ending. Having read two of Julia Fisher's books, I can say that I look forward to reading anything she writes! Here's hoping that Asher and Sonia are next! Quite the enthrallingly perfect read for this time, in this place for me. Not quite the usual friends-to-lovers that sometimes gives me hives, but an unusual slow-burn kind of relationship that doesn't. exactly go off the right footing. That there's an unexpected spicy side to it for years in the making made me moist in the right places.
Social-media (legit) counsellor Malachi Dobrev and Marija Sanchez have been following an odd all-see, no-touch rule involving vibrators for quite a while, until...well, something gives. It's a predictable trek from there down that hot and smexy route until a touch of suspense enters the plot as a twist, which frankly, surprised me and in a good way too, because it simply didn't involve the usual drama-for-drama's-sake third-act breakup and the forced reconciliation before the good couple is allowed their happy end.
I loved Mal and Rija's way around each other (all my thumbs up for maturity and emotional intelligence there) and how they never actually fought their feelings from the start. That it's all done in this short novella, wrapped up quite nicely in a bowtie is just that cherry on top that I was content to bite into.
I was super into this in the beginning from the longing and their uhhh sex by proxy? I was down for it. After they went to the Gala, it kind of fizzled out for me for some reason. It felt a little predictable but I still enjoyed it.
I think maybe adding additional POVs would be a fun way to up the plot line a little. Like having Mal's POV sometimes or even a few from Christine would have been very interesting.
The character development was great and I really loved Mal, Rija, and Sonia (Siggy too! 🐶). I think the friendship between Sonia and Rija was my favorite relationship in this story. They are super relatable and also used AMAZING references that kept me giggling. They were so loyal to each other and Sonnie is just a firecracker that provided a lot of comedic relief.
The story between Mal and Rija was good but it felt like it was missing a little more oomph if that makes sense.
I would also hope that there is a sequel to this story hopefully following Sonnie and Asher! 🤞🤞🤞 I think the writing will just get better and better.

It's a novella so allowances can be made for the compact storyline. However, this was like two separate short store is together. The first is pre-gala, the second, post-gala.
Pre-gala, we get the MCs meeting, the falling for each other, the sexual tension, all the romance stuff. While post-gala, we get an entirely different story with a mini-thriller plot. Both parts were good, but some overlap of these would have made the book so much better. As it is, I didn't enjoy the format.
The MCs are fine, I don't feel a lot towards them because this is a short story and the nature of the writing. We get to know them more in the first half, but it really turns to telling, not showing during the second half so we kind of lose touch with them. I did like the FMC setting some great boundaries with her parents and that the MMC, as a therapist, was trying very hard to support her without treating her as a patient or project as she found her voice.
What do you do when your BFF warns you to be hands off of her brother?
Malachi (Mal) is the brother of Marija (Rija)’s roommate and BFF Sonia. Mal is Dr. Do-Right a nickname he’s earned from his famous self help podcasts and medical practice. Sonia basically made Rija swear to never date or fall for her brother, and Rija confirmed that Sonia is her sister and he would never come between them.
Hmm… typical, the attraction between the two was too strong to deny and eventually they fell into a relationship.
Life threatening drama ensues from one of the docs dates, who also happened to be Sonia’s former friend.
While I enjoyed the story, it did take a good quarter of the book before I got over the betrayal of the promise. But the heart wants what the heart wants. And there is a happy ending for Rija and Malachi, as well as Rija and her besties, Sonia.
And honestly, I want Sonia and Asher to be a romance story.
Rija and Mal have a secret. They have been having a long distance relationship unbeknownst to Rija’s BFF, who happens to be Mal’s sister. Mal is no longer content with the distance, and moves to Chicago to make the relationship real, but will at come at the cost of Rija and Sonnie’s relationship.
Ms. Fisher knows how to write emotionally intelligent men. Mal is wonderful. He’s supportive and understanding and communicates with Rija to make sure they’re on the same page. I really enjoyed their story. They’re both likable characters and the spicy scenes are hot. There is a bit of over the top drama that occurs with a minor character that’s used as external conflict, but it’s quickly resolved. Over all this was an enjoyable read, I’m hoping Sonnie and Asher will get their book.

This story delivers everything you want in a spicy contemporary romance: electric chemistry, secret rendezvous, and a touch of danger that keeps the pages flying. Rija and Malachi are an irresistible opposites-attract duo — she’s feisty and impulsive, he’s the golden-boy surgeon with a past he can’t quite escape. Their relationship is complicated, forbidden, and sizzling with tension.
The emotional stakes rise alongside the heat as a twist of suspense puts both their hearts — and lives — on the line. Add in some laugh-out-loud moments, and one very protective best friend, and you’ve got a romance that’s as fun as it is heart-pounding.
A great read if you are a fan of steamy slow burns with a thrilling edge.

This novella packs a lot in. I really liked the two main characters, both of whom are trying to do the right thing which means keeping a lid on their instant attraction. However their chemistry is palpable, the buildup delicious, and the payoff, when it finally - er - comes is explosive. But this isn’t just about a developing relationship, and the rather abrupt turn into suspense and action also introduces a few new characters who seem to be set up for future stories. Overall a quick and compelling read that blends drama, romance and humour. Thanks to Booksirens for the advance review copy. All opinions are my own.
Pure beautiful escapism is this novella! I feel like it's the kind of story you come up with in your head then embellish to make more dramatic and then Julia has written it down. I loved it! It was entirely predictable (which I loved) and so well written. Julia's writing is some of my favourite and I can't wait to read more from her!
I don't know how everything is packed into this novella. We fall in love with Mal and Sonnie so quickly, learn to hate Rija's family, learn the backstory then jump into the romance and drama all within so few pages! It is a testament to Fisher's fantastic writing that none of it felt rushed or forced. Do I think she's conflated a few jobs to make Rija and Mal even more impressive? Sure. Do I care? Nah.
Rija and Mal seriously deliver the heat, but are still so sweet together.
A few things I really loved:
Sonia’s reaction to Mal and Rija getting together felt like a very realistic, adult reaction to have. (I also love that she was trying to push them together).
The twist in the end was really well done. Throughout the story you know something is happening behind the scenes. Mal disappears, takes calls, and refers to an “issue” but we don’t know what’s going on until it happens. I like that it didn’t come out of nowhere, but it was still a surprise!
Rija and Sonia’s friendship was so strong and I’m so glad that it stayed that way!!
I can’t wait to read more of Julia’s stories!

Is it crazy to declare an auto buy author when you never bought a book of hers?
I got the amazing honor to ARC read for Julia Fisher again and just as expected I loved it.
This book is for everyone who wants that sweet and cozy domestic feeling, just to be crushed by a sudden spike of adrenaline and a heart attack. The emotions this book put me through. Help.
Malachi is probably the sweetest man known to mankind. Their gentle interactions are everythint. And Rija, my strong Rija. You didn't deserve all the bullshit, but damn do you deserve Mal.
And for everyone not sold yet- they have a s*x toy collection... and it's getting used. Like a lot.
Rules are meant to be broken. When you promise your bestie and roommate that you won’t fall for her brother… you try really hard to keep your promise.
Rija and Mal keep fighting their attraction for each other and haven’t acted on it… yet. When they are ready to talk to Mal’s sister and come out about their attraction, everything gets turned upside down.
The banter and faithfulness in this book is off the charts. Especially the gifts that are given to Rija.

I'm not a fan of short stories but I'm so glad I gave this book a chance. I read Hearts On The Table when it was published and I absolutely adored Julia's writing style, and this story didn't disappoint. It was funny, sweet, spicy and deep in just a few words, which is really hard to accomplish. Mal and Rija's connection and chemistry was strong, and it was well worth the read.
(I do have to accept I missed Lainey and Sam and wished we had seen at least one cameo from them <3)
I want to start this review off by stating that I usually am NOT a fan of novellas or anything less than 200 pages since it usually is 9 times out of 10, completely rushed. How JF managed to include the characters past history and their current situation and completely nailed it in 184 pages is beyond me. This is such sweet, heartwarmingly spicy read and i can’t wait to see what’s next in Love.V2.
Who woulda thunk that a vibrating china cabinet would be romantic. IYKYK. 😏
Goodness what a book! I downloaded it and finished it in two hours, I couldn't put it down. The characters are well written, and I loved the amount of spice throughout the entire book. I hope something comes of two of the secondary characters, I'd definitely read that book too. Recommend this book 100%

Dr. Do-Right is a great romantic read. Mal and Rija helped me escape the real world for a while. I also loved the slow burn tension between them. Their romance and attraction are so tangible. Dr. Do Right is a fun and enjoyable read and it captivated me from the first page! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a fun, short read with intense chemistry between the FMC & MMC. I loved the best friend's brother trope in this one because the best friend, Sonia, was hilarious! I hope she gets her own story. The plot was slightly predictable but overall, I enjoyed this alot.
Dr.Do right is an well written plot line with great characters. It's a nice romance read with great plot line and enjoyable story… received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
*I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.* I loved this book so much! It was the perfect mix of cute and tense. So good!
I really loved how much of a story is packed into the novella length. I was a little confused on where this fit in the timeline of the series since Lainey from the first book wasn't mentioned at all and it seemed like her an Rija were becoming good friends too. I will admit I started this book thinking Sonia was in fact the most annoying character ever written but she came around for me. I absolutely snorted at "but Rija they're family". I can't do spoilers but this part of the plot was super unique to me and great to illustrate the long distance relationship. I would have liked a bit more backstory on the villain because that kind of just hit you in the face but it also resolved which was nice.
