Bloody Mess is exactly what the title promises—a hilarious, horny, heartfelt trainwreck of a supernatural romance that somehow works. Amelia is a neurodivergent therapist for magical beings (think goblins, golems, harpies with roommate drama), and Freddy is a self-loathing vampire who can’t bring himself to bite anyone… until he meets her.
Their chemistry is not slow-burn. It’s an immediate, chaotic detonation of trauma bonding, kink, and inappropriate workplace tension—and it’s glorious. The banter snaps, the emotional depth hits hard, and the sex vibes start pulsing by chapter two.
There are several typos and missing words, and I was left wishing for more clarity on the world’s magic system—it felt like a weird-but-fun sandbox with no map. But the functional-dysfunctional cast completely stole my heart.
Messy, magnetic, and unfiltered.
