"Hey piñata, it's my birthday, so I get a wish, and I want you to come to life." Nothing happens. Because, of course, nothing happens. "Fine. Be that way. It would be cool to have a little piñata friend every year for my birthday, though."
Reminiscing over how fun birthdays used to be, Danelle still hopes something exciting could happen for her special day, despite being all grown up.
Stella needs to find out what kind of piñata she is, even if that means facing one of her biggest fears—being broken.
Together, they find out that sometimes people get their birthday wishes granted in unexpected ways.
Smashed is book 12 in the Kyleverse, a series of sentient object romance short stories. Kyle isn’t the main character, but he shows up to help the plot in one way or another. The stories are sequential but can be read as standalones.
Smashed is a sentient object romance with explicit material. It is intended for 18+ readers.
Nicole Parker is the author of creative and humorous romance stories. She is a 30-something California native who spends the great majority of her free time writing books, reading books, or organizing her ever growing TBR list. She also has a spouse, some kids, and pets, but this isn't about them. Nicole's books are funny, raunchy, silly, and most importantly full of good vibes and happy endings.
It is a true honor to not only have a book released on your birthday intentionally (twice) by one of your favorite authors but to also be the main character in one. AND HAVE YOUR DOGGO IN IT TOO! Nicole is forever a favorite of mine (even before she made me a character smashing a pinata lover). I absolutely loved this sweet, spicy and slightly unhinged story. There's a sentient pinata, Kyle and plenty of paddling and wild fun. Also candy flavored c*m. DELISH. Wait until you see the art. I am in love.
Piñata fisting goodness. Kyle is still perfect. Danelle is a dirty talking queen. I do resent the vague-ass "candy flavored" descriptor for Stella juice.
Nicole Parker has done it again! Smashed was an absolute blast from start to finish. I swear these books just keep getting better and better — and this one had me laughing out loud more times than I can count.
Stella and Danielle are pure chaotic magic together. Their dynamic was such a fun time, and the way their personalities bounced off each other had me cackling. I mean, Danielle asking if she could punch Stella almost immediately after meeting her?? Iconic behaviour. And the sheer amount of candy and cardboard puns? Genius. I was crying at some of them. (I will never look at a pinata the same way again.)
And can we talk about Kyle? That man says no to nothing. He’s always down for the ride, no matter how ridiculous it gets — and honestly, we love a supportive, slightly unhinged king.
The humour in this book was top-tier. The dialogue was snappy, the situations were unhinged in the best way, and the quotes? Instant classics. If you’re looking for a fast-paced, pun-filled, laugh-until-you-snort kind of rom-com, this one delivers.
Huge thanks to Nicole Parker for letting me live rent-free in this ridiculous, wonderful world. I already can’t wait for the next one!
SHE DID IT AGAIN!!!!! Queen Nicole Parker for the freaking win!!! Oh how obsessed I am with her writing is laughable. And this one was party licking GOOD!!! A Piñata a freaking PINK PIÑATA! And her first FF romance. Man the edging, the praise, the degradation it was all just perfect. And how ma man Kyle came in with the PERFECT KYLERGY!
The puns the tessels the sparkles the candy flavours. It was stuffing good😏
Thats was gushing TED talk I could go on for hours. But best just to read and rent with me😉
I needed a pick me up today and this ARC read was just full of chuckles for me, and on birthday week no less. Color me spoiled.
Pun after ever-loving pun. The tassels, I can't. As always Kyle is here to guide us into a carefree relation, and someone really should give this guy a psych degree because he's doling out therapy 101 once again.
Anyways, happy birthday to me. Living for this nonsense.
I received this copy as an ARC and OMG I loved it. Ms. Parker is slowly ruining things for me, one inanimate object at a time, but I am enjoying this descent into not being able to look at ANYTHING without wondering, "Top or bottom?"
(if you were wondering, pinatas are switches with a slight degradation kink.)
I wasn’t sure how to feel reading about a fictional depiction of a friend doing very sexual things with a piñata 🪅 but once again NP brings us a “hit” this one was so fun and I loved Stella she was so sweet and Danelle seems as funny in the book as she is in real life. Also yay for Soup!
This sweet and spicy sapphic romance was absolutely how I would've wanted to spend my birthday! Filled with hilarious lines, k!nky times, and plenty of love, Danelle and Stella know how to celebrate!
I love how this story took us through the honest experience of birthdays as an adult and how they're just not the same as when we were kids. You very much have to make your own fun and that's exactly what Danelle did! And our sweet, anxious pinata girl got to explore what kind of pinata/girl she is with the help of her sexy wish maker and of course the town helper, Kyle 🥰
Pretty much everyone wants to give a piñata a little smack when they see one. But what if you found one that's willing to hit back?
Smashed is pure chaotic brilliance. Nicole Parker continues to defy logic and reason with the twelfth entry in the Kyleverse, and this one features a sentient piñata who’s curious, colorful, and full of spice.
Danelle’s birthday wish unexpectedly comes true when Stella, a bright pink piñata with tassels and a whole lot of sass, comes to life. What follows is a whirlwind of existential candy metaphors, party store puns, heartfelt connection, and wildly inventive heat (yes, candy-flavored, obviously, and yes, there’s rope play involved). This is Nicole Parker at her most unhinged and unapologetically fun.
Stella’s journey of self-discovery, Danelle’s longing for connection, and Kyle’s always-inappropriate-yet-somehow-wise interjections come together in a story that’s laugh-out-loud hilarious and surprisingly sweet. There’s a lot of heart under the glitter and cardboard. Also, a little spanking.
Nicole is singlehandedly destroying my ability to look at inanimate objects without wondering if they’re doms or switches. I’m not even mad about it.
Small Business BookTok ARC Reviews (BookTome Edition): “Smashed” by Nicole Parker
Note: This ARC was given to me for free by the author and I am reviewing this book voluntarily.
“It’s her party… and she’ll smash if she wants to!”
All Danielle wants for her birthday is to connect with someone special, even if it’s just for one day! Little does she know, she’s about to get more than she bargained for in the form of the most unlikely Sentient Romance shifter… her very own piñata!
Nicole Parker continues to expand her whimsical, spicy world of the Kyleverse with the latest installment in the Sentient Romance series! Mrs. Parker once again delivers clever world-building and comedic hijinks, with each new chapter perfect for fans of the TV series “How I Met Your Mother” and the online game of the summer, “Date Everything”! And of course, readers can count on the titular Sentient Romance wingman, and fan-favorite, Kyle to steal the show when they least expect it. Curious to join the birthday hijinks? Don’t miss out when this book hits online shelves on July 10, 2025!
Did I know that I needed a sentient object romance featuring a piñata... nope.
But let me tell you what... I will never look at a piñata and its ribbons the same again... and I ain't mad about it.
My thoughts: - Once again Author Nicole Parker has taken a normal everyday object and managed to make it...hot? -Ok lets start off with the FMC, Danelle... she's a somewhat normal gal who's just looking for some fun on her birthday... and y'all know that in this little town their idea of fun looks a little different. -Insert said piñata...Stella, who is described in such a way that you instantly adore her and her cute little ribbons... -There's tons of smashing but not in the way one would typically think when a piñata is involved... this way is wayyyy hotter! -And of course we can't have any sentient adventure without our very open-minded friend Kyle! -This was a super sweet and spicy little read!
What a perfect book to read on my birthday! I loved getting to know Danelle and Stella, and of course, meeting Kyle again!
Smashed was a really fun read this morning, and I got to see Teddy again. Hopefully, I'll get to see more of him around the universe as more books come out! I loved how much he took all the weird in stride also, bless him 😂
Kyle is buckets of fun (pun totally intended) and always an absolute treat to read. Seeing all the different facets of his character as he deals with these different sentient beings and townsfolk is so interesting.
I can't wait for more in this series, and thank you so much to Nicole for letting me read this early!
Danelle wishes her piñata would come to life—and bam! Stella appears: a shy, slightly confused piñata who secretly wants to get smashed… in the sexiest way possible. It’s like birthday party meets rom-com with a splash of spicy chaos.
This sentient object romance is delightfully awkward, with quirky humor, sweet moments, and enough heat to leave you feeling like you just got whacked in all the right places. Stella’s journey of self-discovery (and smashing) made me want to grab a party hat and move right into the Kyleverse.
Another one for the Kyleverse! 🔥 A super fun and spicy short story featuring a sexy piñata, cake, candy, Kyle, and that signature chaos we all love from Nicole’s books.
This one is playful, unhinged, and just the right amount of steamy—you’ll be grinning the whole time. And of course, Kyle is there like always, ready to show up when you need him most.
I love how Nicole keeps expanding the Kyleverse with these wild and creative stories. Every new addition is unforgettable!
Ready for a celebration with a twist? Because this piñata party comes with more than just candy. 🎉🍬💥
A sentient object romance you won’t forget. Nicole Parker really said: what if love was weirder, funnier, and a little bit steamier? 😂💖 🪅
Smashed is quirky, laugh-out-loud, and surprisingly heartfelt. A sentient object romance that proves love stories don’t have to follow the rules… they just have to make you feel something. And trust me—you’ll feel everything. 🌶️🎉
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — brilliantly weird, wonderfully fun! Add it to your TBR!
Danielle and Stella are so cute, and getting them together with Kyle to help them communicate made me chuckle. No real connection to the overall plotline, but a fun romp via a side quest (which I love).
Yes if: Making a birthday with for a sex pinata that comes true sounds hot
No if: Somehow you're not into a tentacle dildo
🪅 Sentient Pinata 🎂 Just a regular pinata 🪅 Dog vibe check 🎂 Fisting 🪅 Wishes coming true 🎂 "Little star"
Another weird and wonderful addition to the Kyleverse! A Sentient piñata! I just love when something weird happens and everyone is like Kyle is your guy he's use to weird stuff and their like I don't think you mean this weird and the like mmm just wait LOL! I could read about Kyle and his helpful ways for forever!
This series continuously brings a smile to my face and heat to my loins. Nicole’s ability to write a meaningful but silly story is absolutely one of my favorite things in the world.
This one was no exception! And we got some sapphic this time around which I adore!! Danelle (hehe) and Stella were cute and the spice had me fanning myself.
This ARC read was just what I needed today. It was such a fun, quick read and I absolutely ADORED Stella. The communication between Stella and Danelle was top tier and having Kyle stop by?? YES. LOVE. So fun.
Yet another great read in the Kyle-verse. I'm reading in a random order, but was thrilled to get an ARC of the newest release. I love that Soup the dog got a cameo lol. I want to pet them. The ending had me rolling. The FMC and her special toy box full of special creature inspired peens is def on brand for many monster romance and sentient object readers. We feel seen and validated lol. The filthy talk is so good.
If you ever find yourself craving an unhinged female main character who’s side-eyeing a piñata and wondering if it can fulfill more than just her sweet tooth… you know exactly where to go.
Ok, so I often struggle with sapphic romances because they can be soooo emotion/drama heavy and this wasn’t that. I loved this little bdsm piñata. Kyle was a very brief appearance but adored and appreciated just the same.
I've been patiently waiting for Danelle's book since she was introduced and I'm obsessed. Who wouldn't want a pinata lover this cute?! I love a punny moment and they just kept coming throughout Smashed, it's going to leave you laughing and a bit hot. Everything you would expect from the Kyleverse!
