Cecilia Lim doesn’t have time for distractions. At thirty-five, she’s a sharp, relentless attorney in one of Manhattan’s top law firms, known for her precision, tenacity, and an unwavering commitment to justice. She doesn’t chase power—she chases outcomes. The right ones. For her clients, and for the truth.
But all of that ends one night when she’s dragged from her apartment and vanishes without a trace.
She wakes on another world. Cold. Disoriented. Terrified. At the feet of something huge, armored, and utterly inhuman. He doesn’t speak—not at first. Doesn’t explain why he’s taken her. And when he finally does, it’s worse than anything she imagined.
None of it makes sense. None of it feels real. But the fear is.
And Cecilia isn’t the type to kneel and obey. Even when she’s out of her depth. Even when her captor watches her like he already owns her.
As the strange connection between them deepens, one thing becomes terrifyingly
Jumped here right after reading book one since it was rated more highly. It’s relatively better, but the writing still consists of many fragmented sentences, repetitive language & mismatched physical details. The mcs & their dynamic were interesting, but things were still not explored well enough for me to rate higher.
This series seems to offer intriguing stories of alien abduction romance, so it’s a real bummer how the writing hinders the setup. I don’t think I’ll be trying anymore from the series.
Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely adore the series and book number two was *chefs kiss* but I think the author tried to do way too much here. I don’t know if there was a rushed deadline, lack of arc readers, or no editor whatsoever, but several ideas were started and not finished or scenes were alluded to that were put in the wrong place and order in the book. for instance the first time that Cecilia stabs him in the chest that comes out of nowhere and the full scene isn’t revealed until a couple chapters later, which made it seem like the author was trying out an alternate ending to that scene and forgot it was in there-this actually happens a couple of times. It’s a good book and I absolutely love this series, but I hope that the author takes more time and care with the next book so that it matches the quality of the first two in the series.
I wanted to really enjoy this book but there’s so many issues with it. I think there’s some text missing in some areas. And in others the chapters are out of order. I reached out to the author on FB and hopefully she can fix this and re-issue it. 1. He never removes her collar before biting her. 2. She eats meat but many chapters later mentions she’s basically vegetarian. 3. Around page 121, they’re laying in bed and then suddenly he’s across the room and a stab wound she gave him is healing? It also talks about her being physically changed as if she’s aware and accepted this..? 4. Sex scene is out of order. Talks about seeing his equipments one chapter, then the next chapter he disrobes and she sees his equipment the first time. 5. Many chapters later it talks about her hiding a knife and she stabs him…
There’s more issues as it goes but those are the biggest that make it hard to understand and very confusing.
Another great book by Callia Silver! I just love her almost poetic writing. Even though this was another retelling of a vampire story her poetic turns of phrase added a freshness to it. She also makes the female main characters in her books to be the ultimate strong women without becoming clownish or ridiculous (ie, 95 pound pallid stick women who clobber 250+ muscle bound warrior men and save the day). The female main character in this story is strong because her alien mate makes her strong yet he does not become a shrimpy wimp in the shadow of her glory. Yet both the main characters are equal in strength and power to save their world. All of their struggle is told in Callia Silver’s awesome wordsmithing. All three of her books are amazing reads!
I was feeling really good about this book until the mMC and FmC meet. Not a single bit of connection between the two. She claimed to be this strong lawyer who wasn’t going to let them do anything to her. But she pretty much acquiesced to every single thing. He never acknowledged her pain. She gave in comically quickly. She actually said well if he’s going to do it anyway then I’m going to let him do it, fighting would be stupid. I think when an author takes a strong female and turns them into a meat puppet for the male it is actually more angering to me than when there is just a dumb female lead who can’t make a good decision to save her life. Sex was also extremely meh.
I felt no romance between them.spoilers spoilers spoilers. . . . .
.
He told some traders to find him a human woman with dark black hair like his hair color. She is angry she was kidnapped from Earth. Yet the day she meets him he forces her to have an orgasm and then drinks her blood. She is angry but she liked the pleasure he gave her. He gave her his blood without her consent. So that changes her body.
I actually waited some weeks for this to release because it sounded interesting, but their relationship is moving too quickly without any build up. It started off pretty good, honestly, but she forgave way too quickly and it felt like there were plot holes. It genuinely isn't a terrible story, just needs a bit more in between. It feels a little bit rushed
Imagine this, you’re in the apartment you own, reviewing notes for the case you’re heading up the next day after years of clawing your way up the law firm ladder. You’re about to take a sip of well-deserved wine. And you’re abducted by aliens. And delivered to a warlord whose blood makes you powerful too. And he has two penises. What could go wrong?

I am so glad that I found this author. I will be eagerly awaiting more fantastic books, hopefully series like this one. Epic world building, great emotions, actually funny parts too. Thank you Callia Silver, I appreciate you.
first off my rating is only because the spice was very tame compared to the other two in the series. i love a good enemies to lovers but this one felt very lackluster, it just fell flat for me and i almost gave up. it also had several mistakes. it was a 2.75 - 3 ✨ for me.
I liked the “Alien Vampire twist.” Did not see the betrayal from within though! The enemy that was attacking was from the previous book….. but you really don’t need to read it to understand this book.
Wow, what can I say? You need to read it to understand it. I was hooked. I couldn't stop reading it. Love the characters. The author described every chapter phenomenally. To my taste was very well written.
