This has been a sweet, well-written series by a team of great authors. I’ve enjoyed every single book.
Although I hadn’t already met Kane and Maria in Chasing Fire: Montana, I quickly caught up to their past journey and their personal goals. Kane comes to this story with a heavy weight on his shoulders. He’s got so much to prove after being betrayed, branded a traitor and declared dead. His quest not to let down his team is admirable. From Kane, I learned the value in letting go and letting God. Kane held up the theme that God is in control and reminded us that there’s always hope. Maria is on a mission, too. She’s looking for her father, whom she hasn’t seen for 15 years. She’s determined not to be judged for who he is, and reminds her teammates of the value in judging someone on their own merit. I’d never considered that it’s possible to love someone, but not like them. Maria showed me and then mirrored Kane in her belief in hope and in God’s planning.
This was a sizzling finale to the series. It was full of adventure, dangerous biotoxins, Delta Force soldiers, broody and independent characters, and showcased loyalty, both with respect to God and to the team and to each other. I hope we’re not finished with the Chasing Fire crew.
I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.
What an epic ending to the Chasing Fire: Alaska series. Kane and Maria's story is fast-paced and a wild adventure. Filled with intrigue, danger, and action, Burning Justice will not leave you disappointed. I loved the backstories of Kane and the Troubled Boys (Delta soldiers supposedly dead) and Maria, a CIA agent. Phillips crafted an amazing suspense read containing Christian elements. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Burning Justice by Lisa Phillips takes a ton of familiar characters and throws them into trouble. Plenty of action and romance. The suspense does take over the plot of the characters and keeps throwing them into more and more trouble. There are more fires, capture, torture, and running away from the bad guys into the woods. I liked how Phillips is the author that will tie up any loose ends that are in the story. However, in the epilogue, readers are introduced to some new extended family members that are going to appear in Susan May Warren’s next series coming out in 2026. Overall, Burning Justice by Lisa Phillips ties up the story with all the twists and turns from the previous five novels in this series. Plus, she keeps the suspense coming and the romance sparking. I can’t wait to read more of Susan May Warren’s upcoming series that will feature just as much romance and adventure to keep this reader happy.
I received a complimentary copy of Burning Justice by Lisa Phillips through Sunrise Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
Amazing grace and burning justice! That’s what this story held. One reaching for what’s right, the other showing up when nothing else could. And both carried by the steady hand of the one true God who sees, knows, and redeems.
Burning Justice tore me up in all the right ways. It didn’t rush the healing or force the hope. It let the fight play out honestly in Kane’s surrender, in Maria’s awakening, in the deep reminder that we can’t fix what only God can restore. The danger was real. So was the grace.
I’ll never forget Kane trying to let go. Not just of control, but of fear. Trusting God with Maria. There was no backup plan. And Maria, finally beginning to pray… she opened her mouth and prayed. Not because she had the right words, but because she knew she needed God. There was no performance in her prayer, only hunger. And I felt it like a holy ache.
“Give my fears and dreams to God,” Raine told her. It wasn’t new to me, but the Holy Spirit used it like it was.
And when those two words came: But God. I felt the weight of them deep in my spirit. Everything else faded. I worshiped through it. “But God, who called me here below, will be forever mine.” That wasn’t just a lyric tucked into a scene. That is truth always steadying my soul. My Savior. My rescue. My forever.
By the time I turned the last page, I wasn’t just moved — I was worshiping. This story pointed my heart straight to Jesus. It didn’t offer shallow resolution. It offered a testimony. Grace didn’t step aside. It fought. Justice didn’t falter. It stood. And through it all, Christ was lifted high. And while this story is fiction, the God it pointed to is not. I closed the book thinking about my own life, my own surrender, my own need for grace that fights and justice that heals. My relationship with Him is real, and this book simply stirred a deeper gratitude for what He’s already done in me and for me. That’s what stays with me. That’s why I read.
Burning Justice is a non-stop action, on the edge of your seat novel. You put a fire jumper team, add espionage with biochemical weapons, and you have quite the page-turner of a suspense. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting!
The characters are quite an assortment. Some married, some in love, and others with budding romances, all trying to keep their heads on the mission. Lots of banter going on between them. At times, I laughed; other times, it made me cringe as I imagined the feelings they went through. An emotionally charged read, but with plenty of surprises, twists, and an outstanding ending.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.
I’m still trying to cool down after reading this scorching hot summer series. Lisa Phillips closes out this series with Burning Justice. Purely amazing work and what an incredible lead couple.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from Sunrise Publishing. All opinions are my own.
I have not been able to read every book in this series. Instead, I have been hopping in and out of the lives of these characters as they have battled wildfires, a domestic terrorist group, and now the additional search for Maria Sanchez’ father, who has been missing for fifteen years and may possibly be a captive of the men behind all of this terror.
Burning Justice focuses on Maria Sanchez and Kane Foster. I loved the tension between these two. And apparently the tension has been building for a couple of years. They are both definitely attracted to each other but are unwilling to put their mission in jeopardy by admitting their feelings…until they finally do! I loved seeing them give in and admit what was in their hearts.
But even though Maria and Kane have crossed over into a relationship, they still must fight to survive so much in this story! The villain is powerful and determined and almost succeeds against the team time and again. There is a strong faith message and Maria has her own faith journey throughout the novel. I enjoyed seeing how everything wrapped up for both the team, as well as for Maria and Kane.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I was dreading reading the last book in the series but was glad to see how the story concludes.
Kane and Maria are the stars of this book as they seek to find her father and the canister. My trouble with this book was that there are so many characters that I was lost at times. I would love to read this series from book one to six and I think that I would really enjoy it.
My favorite part of the book was when a criminal was presented the gospel before he died. Even though the person had done awful things, the team cared about him knowing Jesus. Pretty sweet!
Thanks to Sunrise Publishing for the arc. The opinions are my own.
This is an absolutely thrilling summer read! I love its perfect beach bag size—ideal for a day under the sun. The heroes in this story embody the spirit of justice, tirelessly working to safeguard our nation. Watching Kane grow in his faith is truly inspiring; it takes immense strength to let go and trust in a higher power. This book has it all—adventure, heartfelt moments, and a powerful message that will resonate long after the final page! I received a complimentary copy of this book and read it with pleasure. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
Complex characters discover truths and justice in a beautiful Alaska setting. Suspense with romance creates a great story. Definitely worth the read. This book was provided by Sunrise Publishing. The opinions expressed here are my own thoughts.
I can’t believe this series is already over! I loved the Chasing Fire: Montana series last summer. I adored this Chasing Fire: Alaska series this summer. Dare I ask for a Chasing Fire: Colorado series next summer?
This was a great Christian romantic suspense with high stakes, and pulse pounding action and suspense. Our heroine is former CIA and she the Hammer boys with her as protection (former Delta Force). We met them all last summer in Montana and I was so curious about them so I was thrilled to find them up in Alaska this summer!
This is a series finale and Phillips packs so much into this book! I didn’t want it to end and I wanted so many scenes to be doubled in length because of all of the info and events packed in!
I can’t wait to read more Christian romantic suspense out of Sunrise Publishing. This is a just kisses romance, intimacy level 2.
I received an eARC of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Rescue. Danger. Devotion. This time, their hearts are on the line.
Answers about her father’s disappearance practically taunt former CIA Agent, Maria Sanchez. After witnessing the murder of her mother and her father’s abduction on the same day fifteen years ago, she is determined to find her father, no matter the cost. However, there’s just one thing that keeps getting in her way…
Kane Foster won’t stop at anything to prove himself and rewrite his story after a former military mission gone wrong ended up branding him a traitor. Now a Hotshot, he faces danger daily.
When the opportunity arises for Kane to help with a mission to prevent a deadly biological weapon attack, he soon realizes that Maria’s father’s abduction could be part of it.
As tension flares and Kane and Maria begin fighting feelings for each other, can they find Maria’s father and the bio weapon before it’s too late?
This was such a fun read and an amazing conclusion to this series!😍
I loved the constant action and suspense throughout this book as well as the close team dynamic between the hotshots. I am a huge fan of any sort of strong family dynamic in books, and I adored how prominent that was through this whole series!
Maria is such a fiery MFC!🔥 She has such resilience, courage, and determination. I loved how she always did her own thing, but also that her work family never let her face anything alone.
Kane and Maria’s connection was fantastic! They had an amazing connection and were the perfect compliment to each other’s personalities!❤️
I haven’t read all the books in this series, but was able to read this as a standalone. However, I would recommend reading them in order as there were a couple of gaps with some of the other characters that I could tell were talked about in the previous books.😊
Overall, this was a great conclusion to this amazing series!🔥
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
A Christian romantic suspense novel that far surpassed my expectations for a 'good read' in this genre. The author has filled the story with energy, danger, faith, teamwork, friendship, and romance . . .
Maria Sanchez, a former CIA operative, is on a self-mandated mission to find her father whom she last saw fifteen years ago. Her father, Doctor Cortez, is a world-renowned scientist who was kidnapped by the people who murdered her mother. The doctor has developed a deadly biological weapon that will be used for evil, but he is Maria's father and she wants to save him from a horrible fate.
She is now working undercover as a firefighter in Alaska. She faces danger every moment that she's on duty, but accomplishing her father's rescue is never far from her mind. Maria believes she can find her father, but her firefighting team member, Kane Foster, has distracted her on her quest . . .
Kane is an intense, loyal, skilled military veteran who is carrying a heavy load of traumatic baggage from his past from his childhood to the present. He wears his personal feelings for Maria on his sleeve and has dedicated himself to keeping her safe no matter what. He is a man of faith who ministers to others with his positive attitude.
Join this riveting adventure with the Trouble Boys, members of various law enforcement agencies, suspicious characters, and hotshot firefighters dealing with a deadly wildfire in Alaska as Maria and Kane try to multi-task to solve their personal and professional challenges.
The story is completely clean in language and content. The faith thread in this story is bold and positive.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my opinions and thoughts shared here are solely my own.
a heart-racing conclusion to the chasing alaska series!
fans of the series are sure to love how this sixth book, burning justice, brings the overarching storyline to an end; i, however, was mostly confused... i read burning hearts and made the mistake of skipping to this last book. there are a lot of characters and relationships, plus developments to the ongoing threat, that just would have been easier to manage by reading each book of the series in order. so, if you have an interest in this romantic-suspense series (and you should!), do it right and read all the books.
cia operative maria and ex-military kane have quite a lot to prove in this book. maria's determined to finally, after fifteen years, find her father, while kane just wants to keep her safe (and maybe come back from the dead, too). it's all action and danger and denying-their-feelings-to-avoid-distraction-and-wait-on-God's-timing, which makes for quite an exciting read. despite my confusion, i enjoyed following these two characters, the twists and turns of their challenges, and their faith in God and each other through it all.
if you love romantic suspense—full of fire, danger, and a friends-to-more romance—be sure to check out burning justice (but, again, only after you read the rest of the series!).
(i received a complimentary copy from the publisher. i was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions i have expressed are my own.)
considerations: —language: none —spice: kisses only —faith: mentions of God, prayer, and the bible —content: violence, fire, mentions of murder and parental loss
Maria has spent years hunting for her kidnapped father, and the stakes could hardly be higher. She definitely has no time for romance, however much Kane makes her wish for more. Kane and his team-mates are officially dead following betrayal by another team member, and where better to hide out than in a fire-fighting crew in rural Alaska? But they have another reason for being here: the man who betrayed them is involved in a secret militia in the area. Finding and stopping him must be Kane's first priority, however much he'd like to put Maria in that position. Will they ever sort things out and find time for romance, or will the militia win?
A definite page-turner, as we join the team once again in their final fight against the secret militia. I unfortunately haven't read all the books yet, but while there's an overarching story that's best read as part of a series, I've read enough to have a pretty good idea of what's going on, and each book is a standalone romance. Here, it was good to learn more about Kane and Co. They've felt on the mysterious side, so it was nice to get some background - and even better to see him finally get a happy ending. I'm hoping the rest will follow at some point in some other series! All in all, a great mix of romance and suspense, with more time with previous main characters and getting to know some of the side characters better. Probably best read as part of the series but I think could also be enjoyed on its own. 4.5 stars.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
this is the epic finally we've been waiting for! the pages are full of spies, supposedly dead military guys, betrayal, long lost family, and of course a terrorist plot that needs to be foiled. The fait journey of Sanchez is genuine and one that many could relate to. only wish that Tristan also got a HEA but alas we have to wait on that one.
Full of exciting action and compelling characters, this final book in the "Chasing Fire Alaska" will keep you captivated from the first page to the very last. CIA Agent Maria Sanchez (she goes by Sanchez) has spent 15 years--her entire CIA career--working the cases assigned to her while simultaneously searching for her father, who was kidnapped right before her eyes, when she was only a teen. Until now, there have been tiny moments of hope and progress; but her father has still been gone.
Now, Sanchez and Kane, one of the Delta Force soldiers who were declared dead (but are still alive), have teamed up to find not only her father but the terrorists who plan to use his invention to destroy America. You see, there's this canister...
And also, there's this unspoken thing developing between Sanchez and Kane. They're not only a perfect fit for each other; they're beginning to realize that as well! If only this attraction weren't happening when they basically need to save both the world and Sanchez's father. But maybe, just maybe, there's a way that they can finish the missions AND save each other.
I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions shared here are my own.
Burning Justice, by Lisa Phillips, is the sixth book in the Chasing Fire: Alaska series. This story does contain characters from previous stories, so it is best to read them in order. Having not read the entire series, I did find myself not totally following some of the characters mentioned at one point. Maria’s mother was killed, and her father went missing when she was young. Now she is a CIA agent who continues searching for her father. Kane is part of a Delta Force that was presumed to be dead. Together he and Maria work to track down her father and find out what happened years ago and why he has been missing.
This is an enjoyable story to read. The story is well written, easy to read and imagine. The story is filled with non-stop action, suspense and mystery. I appreciate the faith the characters have and how Maria finds herself turning to prayer and relying on God. I enjoyed how Maria and Kane worked together so well and how Maria learns to work as a team.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this story; this is my honest review.
Burning Justice is not the first book I have read by Lisa Phillips, and will not be the last. I stumbled upon her books by accident, and I am not upset that I did. I have enjoyed the whole series and related series of Last Chance County and now Chasing Fire: Alaska. This is the sixth in the Chasing Fire: Alaska series, and it was a great finale.
The character development was good. We have Maria, who is on the hunt to find her missing father, who has been missing for 15 years. Kane is on the crew, trying to help Maria find her father while also saving lives on the smoke jumping crew. Though he is legally declared dead. They both have a past that they are trying to work through.
This setting has been amazing throughout this entire series. I have loved getting to know all the characters and the land. I hate to say goodbye. This was a whirlwind of a story, packed full of action and lots of characters. At times, it was hard to keep them all straight in my head. We finally got our ending to the militia.
The romance was a kisses-only romance that was perfection.
Lisa Phillips did a great job intertwining faith throughout the book.
*I received a complimentary copy from the author and voluntarily chose to review it. All opinions are my own.
The perfect finale to a series filled with non stop action and suspense!! This final installment of the Chasing Fire: Alaska doesn’t disappoint! There is plenty of action, twists and turns, and secrets revealed to keep you reading late into the night. The romance in this story is more of a slow burn in the background for most of the book, with the emphasis on the suspense part until about the last third of the book. The characters were well written with plenty of depth, and it was nice to spend time with the characters from previous books. I would recommend reading this series in order, as the story line progresses through each one, and there are definitely spoilers mentioned if you go back to read them. With that being said, the book is a stand alone so you could read it without reading the prior books. The book has a strong faith thread that runs through it although the MFC is not a Christian. I read an advanced copy of the book and all thoughts and opinions are honest and my own. I would recommend this book as well as the rest of the series!
Burning Justice grabs you by the throat on the very first page and doesn't let go. The stakes are impossibly high in this story, leaving you with an adrenaline high before you finish the first chapter. It'll all make you rethink your definition of 'hard.'
Because Susan May Warren and Lisa Philips, co-authors of the Chasing Fire: Alaska series, really know how to put their characters through the ringer. Yet that's one of the many things I like about this series - and especially Burning Justice: not only will you get an amazing literary escape, but it also puts great lessons into a stark perspective that you won't see anywhere else.
Because while we can all identify with feelings of loneliness and doubting our worth, it's also not our job to save the literal Western World. The way these expert authors contrast these relatable lessons with hardcore heroes make these books a blast to read. They're not just fluff, though they are fun - but you'll be drawn into the story with a heroic cast of characters who all have their fatal flaws, too.
And that's what makes them real: they're not perfect, and because of that, Kane and Sanchez are people I want to know. I can understand their pain, but I also want to be in their inner circle, because we all want a family to which we can truly belong. That fellowship concept is one that both CS Lewis and TRR Tolkien learned during World War 1 and mastered in their own novels, and now Warren and Philips have joined their club.
So that's what makes Burning Justice the absolute perfect summer read - and it's also why I'm not ready to leave the Chasing Fire: Alaska world. Though I feel like there were a few threads left to tug, so maybe we'll get to revisit these characters in a future book. I'll be hoping - in the meantime, I might just have to read this book again, because I'm not ready to say goodbye to this story world.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Loved Burning Justice! What a great wrap up to the Chasing Fire Alaska series. Fans of romantic suspense with love this story.
Maria Sanchez has been searching for her father since her mother was shot in front of her and her father was taken hostage 15 years ago. She joined the CIA so she could really search for him. Kane Foster's Delta Force group was betrayed on a mission. The world thinks they're dead, as they work on trying to find out what happened.
"Hammer, Saxon, and Kane, and by extension Mack as well, were the best kind of men. She'd stuck gold when they'd rescued her. Careening into her life with war paint on their faces, carrying guns and packs and all kinds of gear...She'd discovered all of a sudden that she wasn't alone. And they hadn't stopped there. They'd jumped on board with her life after they'd been declared dead. Not even one single thought of going back home and digging up proof they hadn't gone to the dark side. No, they'd decided together that going with her and finding her dad and, by extension, Elias Redding, was what would set everything to rights."
Sanchez has worked alone all of her career, and is very capable. But now she is part of a team and she needs to be reminded of that. She has been self sufficient most of her life, and has not learned to rely on God or think it necessary. She is however, surrounded by those whose faith is important to them. As the danger escalates, she learns to pray, and recognize that she is not alone, God is there always, despite the circumstances. The unspoken feelings between Maria and Kane over the last two years is fun to watch. He is really a sweetheart of a badass!
Romantic suspense lovers will enjoy this story and this series, highly recommend!
Thank you to Sunrise Publishing for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.
Finally, we get closure. I have been reading and waiting patiently for this final book. We needed the good guys to win and put evil where it belongs. But was it was a wild ride to get there. Don't think that the high octane action and dangerous and thrilling adventures slow down in this final book because, if possible, it heated up even more.
Maria Sanchez is former CIA who has been looking for her father, who was taken 15 years ago. She needs to find him. She needs to prove to herself and everyone else that he is not a bad man, only that he is being forced to do the work of an evil group of people.
Kane and the rest of his Delta Force crew are dead, or at least they are on paper. They were branded traitors, but they have stuck with Maria to help her find her father. These heroes don't believe in sitting around. Now, they are fighting fires in Alaska while also searching for her father. They need closure in their lives as well.
I have enjoyed getting to know the characters in this series, who come from all walks of life. They have one major thing in common and that is they are true heroes in every sense of the word. They also believe in justice and country and will do anything to protect their country. This book was particularly emotional because it was so personal for Maria.
Kane has strong faith unless it involves Maria. He learns to leave it in God's hands, which requires great strength.
I found myself gritting my teeth as the action heated up. I admire Maria so much. She is strong in mind and body. She is hurting, and has been hurting for many years.
There was a lot packed in to the 200 plus pages of this finale of this series. It was well worth every minute that I spent reading it.
Thank you to Sunrise Publishing for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Kane and Sanchez’s mysterious relationship is brought to light in this final story to conclude Chasing Fire: Alaska. We finally get to know the ‘trouble boys.’ The main goal of the militia is revealed, and the group is shut down after other familiar faces return to the mix. However, there are a few crumbs leading me to believe there is more to come for some of our team members. After all, who exactly was Crispin on the phone with at the end of the story? If you enjoyed these stories, you may want to check out Susan May Warren’s Team Hope and Global Search and Rescue series. In Burning Truth (CF: A #5) Reporter Dani senses that Sanchez is upset, and although she doesn’t seem like the “hugging kind,” Dani hugs her anyway. Burning Justice opens with Sanchez saying, "What women actually want is to borrow an axe and do it themselves." I was shaking with laughter as we find out just how independent Maria Sanchez has been. That she has allowed Kane Foster to become her silent sidekick ultimately shouts green flag. Of course, there’s more to it than that. That he is afraid of showing her how much it cost to rescue her long ago is a sobering reminder of how far he will always go to protect her. It's a fabulous, amazing, multi-layered story and a great conclusion to a busy series. I have been lucky to read this series of books in order. At the end of the day, the best part was getting to "meet" people from all walks of life, who flee the mundane and seek the sharp edge of adventure, challenge, and risk for a season or a lifetime. That we walk away with a little more faith to face our own adventures? Maybe it wasn't luck after all. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am beyond grateful for the authors who write a series that can be read as a whole or as a standalone, and Lisa Phillips does this to perfection. True to form, I jumped into this series on the sixth and final installment of the Chasing Fire: Alaska series without reading any of the previous books, and not once did I feel lost. It was easy to escape into the narrative despite coming in blind, being six books deep, and these characters clearly having a deep history rooted in trauma and drama.
Maria has been searching for her father for years. The poor guy has been held captive for his talents, and Maria and her firefighting team will stop at nothing to find him. From the start, it’s clear that they are getting close, and I felt that feeling of apprehension instantly. This is a daughter that is desperate and will let nothing come between her and her mission, and that includes the feelings that are clearly sparking between her and fellow firefighter, Kane.
Kane has clearly been through it and is one of those characters I would love to find out more about. It’s clear this man has an interesting backstory and has the weight of the world on his shoulders, and for good reason, but his faith also glimmers from the pages and shines with the message of hope.
I do plan on going back and reading the rest of the series soon, as it’s clear there is something special about the Chasing Fire series. The writing is fast-paced yet impactful, putting you into the action and danger, while also giving a powerful testimony and ending this series in a way that sticks with you long after its gratifying conclusion.
*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
Burning Justice is the sixth and final book in the Chasing Fire: Alaska series and is also connected to previous series, so I believe some characters were previously introduced there as well. I'll be honest, I had only read the first book in this particular series and likewise have only read some, but not all, of the books set in this same world. While I was definitely still able to enjoy this one as a standalone, there were times when I definitely felt like there was history I was missing--- though not enough that I felt completely lost. I do think that those who have read the series in order will absolutely appreciate this story all that much more though.
Right from the very start, this story drops us into the action and doesn't give us much chance to catch our breath through the end. It was nonstop adventure... in the very best way possible. If you're looking for a book with just a hint of suspense... well, this one isn't going to be it. These characters are put through the highest of stakes and I found myself at the very edge of my seat wanting to see how it was all going to play out in the end. In the midst of all that action, I couldn't help but root for the romance between Kane and Maria too. More than anything though, I think it was the beautiful messages of faith that truly took this story to the next level. There were moments of redemption and reminders of God's grace that I just absolutely loved. If you're looking for your next great Chistian suspense read, this book and series are certain to deliver.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
Burning Justice is a wonderful suspense novel and part of a series that you need to read! But beware, read them in order! This series does build on itself. Each book has some characters from previous books. That said, you could read this as a stand-alone novel. You wouldn’t necessarily be lost and wondering, but you would be missing out on a lot of good stuff!
In this book, we follow Kane and Maria. We’ve met them before. Kane doesn’t exist. On paper, he’s dead. He’s been betrayed and deemed a traitor. But really, he’s alive and he has much to prove.
Maria is CIA. And her whole life, she’s been trying to find her father.
Two very opposite and unlike individuals. But secretly, they just might love each other. Can they ever admit this? To themselves or to each other? And what about God? How do they stand with Him? And what about just living to see the next day?
Both characters teach us important lessons through the book. Such as not judging people and trusting in God.
There is so much in this book! It’s the finale for this series, and I am not ready for it to end. My only consolation is that I know people tend to pop up in new series, too, and I am holding onto that hope so that my favorites aren’t gone forever. You’re going to adore this one!

✨Book Review✨ “Don't stop. This family doesn't quit.”
The conclusion to Chasing Fire: Alaska series is here and it is one you don’t want to miss! Lisa Phillips did such a great job at tying all the loose threads together into one amazing story.
Maria Sanchez is an ex CIA operative with one mission, find her father. Her work as a hotshot in Alaska has gotten her one step closer to finding him. Maria’s story was a good one. I loved the struggle to save her father and protect her found family. Maria is a strong independent woman who has to learn to rely on others. Which is something a lot of people can relate to. This definitely makes readers invested in her story.
Kane Fosters is a dead man, having to fake his death on a mission due to being betrayed. Him and his team do what they can figuring out how to stop running and help Maria. Kane and Maria relationship was a fun one but also frustrating one. I just wanted to knock heads when they would pretended they didn’t have feelings for each other. Eventually they were able to sort things out/ realizing you only live once.
Burning Justice is the finale book in a series. You’ll need to read the previous books so you know what is going on. This is a quick read because you won’t want to put it down. Prepare to see some old characters and characters from a different series that takes place in the same universe.
These thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks Sunrise Publishing for the ARC.
Burning Justice Chasing Fire: Alaska #6 By Lisa Phillips
Fifteen years ago, Maria Sanchez lost her parents, her mother murdered and her father captured. Fifteen years of her father being a pawn, a commodity to be brokered and sold. But now she is so close to getting him back. Of course, she has to do so under the cover of fighting raging wildfires in Alaska.
Kane Foster lost his life saving Marie when she was captured by the enemy, and he's been helping her search for her father ever since. Kane's not a ghost, but he's been declared dead following a betrayal. Now he needs to stop a traitor and help Marie find her father, not so easy when there are Alaskan wildfires to fight and a dangerous weapon to recover.
Burning Justice packs a wallop in this conclusion to the multi-author Chasing Fire: Alaska series. Danger surrounds them, and it's not only Alaska that's in danger; nope, the entire nation is at risk. But to achieve victory, they'll need to depend on those around them to have their backs because what they are about to face is huge. And they can't let their hearts get in the way of doing their jobs.
To sum this book up in a sentence: Burning Justice is intense, life-threatening action in the face of treasonous betrayal and denied attraction.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations. All thoughts expressed are my own.
What an interesting and engaging read! Burning Justice by Lisa Phillips is the final novel in Chasing Fire: Alaska, a six book series created by Susan May Warren and Lisa Phillips.
The book follows Marie Sanchez, former CIA operative, and Kane Foster, former Delta Force soldier, as they work with a “hotshot” team to fight fires in the Alaskan wilderness. The two, whose lives collided in Syria after missions gone awry a few years previously, are also doing everything in their power to stop a dangerous militia group from deploying a dangerous biological weapon on American soil with the help of their friends.
Some of the major themes of this novel include: waiting on the Lord’s timing (“Yes, but not yet…”), “But God…” (especially in regards to salvation and justice), and doing the hard thing because it is the right thing to do.
While I rarely read novels in series out of order, Burning Justice is actually the first Chasing Fire: Alaska book I have read—and I loved it! In fact, I have added Chasing Fire: Montana and the rest of the novels in this series to my “To Read” list.
While this novel could be read as a stand-alone, I would definitely recommend reading the series’ books in order, as there was so much backstory and characterization that I missed out on.
