Betrayal of the Sisterhood

Rate this book
In the midst of celebration, chaos waits in the wings...

After a harrowing Tracker assignment in Scotland, Jess Ballard is finally home and ready to celebrate her twin sister Hannah’s long-awaited wedding—and with Milo at the helm, it promises to be the event of the Durupinen season. But even as they turn their attention to dress fittings, tastings, and last-minute preparations, a cloud looms over them. Tensions in the upper ranks of the Durupinen are coming to a boiling point, and it becomes clear that the wedding itself could well be the crucible in which it all comes to a head.

As the wedding draws nearer, a series of disturbing events has Jess and Hannah worried. Someone is digging into their family’s past, and the reasons are sinister. Hidden deep in the Ballard family history lies a carefully concealed secret—one with the power to reshape the destiny of the Durupinen and their role in the spirit world. If revealed, it could destroy not only Hannah’s walk down the aisle, but the very integrity of the Gateways themselves. Can Jess and Hannah stop this dangerous bid for power—or will the Durupinen’s watch over the Gateways and the spirit world come to a final, devastating end?

Betrayal of the Sisterhood is the 11th installment in E.E. Holmes' best-selling Gateway Trackers series, set in The World of the Gateway.

E.E. Holmes grew up near Boston, Massachusetts, where she spent the majority of her childhood reading books. She read them almost constantly, and as a result, perfected the art of walking and reading at the same time, a skill she can still perform to this day with remarkably few instances of falling on her face. She also wrote many books and poems in blank books and on the backs of legal pads her father brought home from the office. They remain some of her finest work.

She soon learned to love literature of the dramatic persuasion, and earned a B.A. in theater from the College of the Holy Cross. After graduation, she set out to prove that her degree was, in fact, not useless, and worked as a principal actor in a summer Shakespeare festival and as a theater teacher, directing over thirty productions and numerous workshops for youth and high school students. She spent several years as the theater director at Wakefield High School where she also taught English literature and public speaking. It was in her classroom that she discovered the horrible truth: a disturbingly large percentage of high school students hate to read. This revelation devastated and bewildered her. She decided she wanted to do something about it, and thus she started work on her first young adult novel, Spirit Legacy: Book 1 of the Gateway Trilogy, which has gone on to win awards from Chanticleer Book Reviews and Media and The Independent Publisher Book Awards. She is also the author of three one act plays, one of which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

E.E. Holmes lives in central Massachusetts with her husband, two children, and small, but surprisingly loud dog. When not writing, she enjoys watching unhealthy amounts of British television, procrastinating, and rediscovering her favorite books from her childhood all over again with her kids.

Awesome Book

So I just finished another installment in The Gateway Trackers Series. It’s another awesome book by this author. I have read all of her books and I’m never disappointed.
So the wedding we’ve all been waiting for finally happened! I cried like I was literally there! Not because it was a wedding and some people always cry at them. No, this wedding was magical and incredibly touching in so many ways. It was so Hannah. I want to go back and redo my wedding now! You’ll totally understand when you get to the wedding part. Thank you Ms. Holmes for being an incredible author!

The WEDDING!

Oh how I love this series! Milo is the ultimate wedding designer & Karen is the planner, putting together the wedding of the century. A researcher goes missing and has direct ties to Jess & Hannah’s clan. As the girls try to find the missing woman, they discover something sinister is afoot. This book was action packed and I was unable to put it down! I can’t wait for the next book!

I liked this better than the two preceding ... maybe because reading the three back-to-back, I finally acclimated to the world again after being away for a while, or perhaps it was that there was more relationship focus, between Jess and Finn, and wedding prep/wedding for Hannah. Humor from Savvy and Milo.

Quite a few mentions of people from the previous books, and it's just been a while since I read them all, to remember all the stories and situations.

I really liked the resolution here ... very fitting/satisfying. I don't know if this is the END of the series (honestly, I thought book 7 was the end), just as far as my Goodreads shelves (series-middle?) or if there will still be more.

ProFanity x2. Other words I note: deign, snuck, anathema, roiling, whirling dervish.

There was a fun JaneAusten reference, and this funny ...

I’ll sleep when I’m dead.”
“You won’t actually,” I teased him. “Frankly, that’s Milo’s whole strategy for getting everything done.”

Text included in KU. I used an Audible credit ... I needed to use up a couple, and this didn't have a WhisperSync discount (because it's so new?)

I adore this series! Jess, Hannah and Miles are.the neatest characters! A ghost! Who.happens.to be.A fashionista! How cool is that?!? And he's the one designing all the attire, not just the dresses, for Hannah's wedding , which in this world, will be the wedding of probably the century! But -- there has to be a mystery. In this case, it starts with a missing person, who happens to be the clan historian for Jess and Hannah's clan. She found something that she knew to be dangerous and attempted to keep it concealed, and to notify both Jews and Hannah. Unfortunately, not before she was kidnapped. What then proceeds to unfurl is more mayhem, adventure, danger and still some beautifully simple romance as only these three and those who love them can provide. Buildings blowing up or getting burned down. Fiona almost losing her mind from a Seer dream. And in the end, don't you believe the good guys will prevail, but how?? Well, that's what makes reading it so much fun!

I don’t know why I keep reading these books. They have potential and I keep waiting for the author to elevate the series but i fear it’s never going to happen. Stop having them stick their tongues out at each other and popping things in their mouths. The characters are somewhere in their 20’s.

What is the point of the Durupinen now? They aren’t the gateway anymore and while they can see ghosts, I don’t really see them helping any. Jess is meant to be a tracker but she doesn’t seem to be very good at it. Catriona is a great tracker and the boss. She knows runes and castings. Jessica knows nothing. She, like her twin, has super powers but that isn’t much of a focus. It’s like Hermione in reality was a great wizard but Harry couldn’t really do much. When will these girls get good at their job? Stop dumbing them down. They can be strong email characters.

it was all a trap

I have always love the gang, Milo, Hannah, Jess, Finn, Savvy, and many more. This story had such a good twist at the end. Lots of betrayal, from hungry social elite council members. Beautiful moments too, from the event of the century featuring Hannah and Kieran.
There’s also a cross over, from the segwid cove series, that now makes total sense from the last book the was released. I absolutely love cross overs. Anything to sneak into the lives of Milo and Hannah, the original gang that I love so much.

Omg! Wow

I could not put this book done. It's the wedding we were all waiting for. And it did not disappoint. I thought it was lovely to see some tender moments between Jess and Finn. We need more of those. Hannah's wedding sounded amazing and the description of her wedding dress you could just picture it. But as usual there was a mystery to solve while all of the preparations were going on around them. Savy was awesome as usual. I was sad to get to the end of the book. But I absolutely loved it.

Excellent as Always!

As always E. E. Holmes's new book was a winner! I was excited to get another look into the world of the Durupinen— and Hannah and Kiernan's wedding, too!— and as usual this story did not disappoint. I was particularly curious to see how this would tie in with Holmes's other current ongoing series, and though I didn't get my answer until the epilogue, I'm very curious to see where the crossover will go. Holmes is one of my favorite authors; her works go to the top of my TBR as soon as they release! Can't wait for the next one.

Absolutely amazing

I love these books so much. The stories a crafted brilliantly and they leave you wanting more. Hannah's wedding is approaching fast and with all the dress fittings and planning preparation, the last thing Hannah, Jess and the gang need is another mystery to solve. But this time it may cost them their lives. Can they unravel the mystery before the wedding day. Another thrilling adventure for the Ballard sisters, with an enemy from the past.

plot twists and the wedding we all waited for

I waited so long for this next installment of the series. It didn’t disappoint at all. I felt like I was visiting old friends, especially Milo who is one of my favorite characters in the series. I don’t want to spoil the story so if you haven’t read the series START it! Please tell us we don’t have to wait almost a year for another story.

I really do enjoy this series and the characters but seeing as its book 11 I can't help but be a little bored of the storyline.

Milo is definitely one of my favourite characters within the book and getting stuck back into this world it does feel like coming home and spending time with them but now its just the same plot line again and again and now feel like it should come to an end and they all live happily ever after.

Did not disappoint

Every book of EE Holmes' series is riveting. I do not want to give the plot away but if you have read the series up to this point, you will feel like you are joining old friends on another exciting, edge of your seat adventure. Hannah's wedding is coming to fruition but the intrigue surrounding it will keep you turning the pages.

Oh my! Yet another absolutely fantastic book from EE Holmes. What an incredible wedding and the description of the dresses! I have loved this entire series and this instalment did not disappoint. I also loved the crossover into the Vesper Coven series, which is another masterpiece.

My only complaint is they are so good, I’ve finished them in a couple of days!!

I have read the full Gateway Tracker series now, and even though there is a related spin-off series, I think I am ready for a break. I've enjoyed following along on the exploits of twin sisters Jessica and Hannah. I've gotten in tight with their friend group and enjoyed all the mayhem, but it's time to walk away and read something else now.

couldn’t put it down

The only bad thing about the Gateway series is that I abandon my family when I get the latest book. I finished this one in 2 days because I couldn’t put it down. And now I have nothing good to read. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Durupinen

It has been some time since I read about Jess and her sister Hannah but after reading this one, it felt like no time at all and I was back with Milo and the rest of the Durupinen. Mustn't forget Finn and Kiernan.

Another Ballard sisters adventure

The only thing that would make these books better is if they were longer. The characters and adventures are engaging and interesting. I can't wait for the next book.

The Gateway Trackers

I enjoyed all 11 books. I especially enjoyed following Fenn and Jess's storyline, but their marriage was only hinted at. I would like to think they did marry , and I can picture it to be !ow key but very endearing.

Thank goodness I only have to wait 6 days for the next Vesper Coven book and my two favourite worlds collide.

Any chance I get to spend time with the Ballard's and their crew I am always in, all the way in and this did not disappoint at all.

Engaging!

As with all her books, E E Holmes sends you on a journey you cannot pull yourself from!
My only disappointment is when I reach the end of each book.
