Nothing new or novel in this one than any other personal finance book. Just another guy who went ooo I’m FI I should write a book.

Excellent overview of how to achieve financial freedom, with options so you can choose your own path. Well organized, doesn't skip any important information and still easy to read. Works not only for those interested in how to embark on the path but also a great refresher for those already on their way. Unfortunately, the title of the book isn't as strong as the contents. This will now be the first book I recommend on the subject.

I’ve followed Andy’s podcast for a while, so I was excited to read his book and it didn’t disappoint. As a mom of three young kids, I found it especially relatable. The way he blends financial advice with insights on marriage and raising a family is a perspective you don’t often see from financial experts. I walked away with a solid to-do list and plenty to think about!

Own Your Time is one of the most refreshing “money” books I’ve read.
It’s really about values, priorities, and building a life that feels aligned — not just financially optimized.
Clear, practical, and genuinely motivating.
Highly recommend.

As a huge advocate for time freedom, I was excited to see the entire third part of Andy Hill's book "Own Your Time" dedicated to pursuing it!
This book is essentially Andy's wonderful podcast in book form, with equal attention given to money topics like budgeting and "coast FIRE" and the human side of things like marriage, family, and friendships. His warm, helpful style shines through on every page.
The concept of "coast FIRE" may be new to readers outside the financial independence community. The idea is there's a point where you've saved enough that compound growth will carry your retirement savings the rest of the way, even without additional investment. Once you hit that number, you only need to earn enough to cover living expenses, which means you could shift to part-time work. How cool.
The most unique section and one I hadn't seen in other books is Andy's tactical advice for how to transition from full-time corporate work to some form of solopreneurship. He covers how to design a three-day work week and offers specific job ideas that fit this schedule.
Other topics are more commonly written about, but still valuable: life design planning, getting out of debt, paying off your house early, making sure you're properly insured, and the pros and cons of working with a financial advisor.
A funny thing (at least for me, personally): In the chapter "Embrace the Simple Life," he mentions his cat, Pishi, whose life is pretty easy: eat, sleep, go outside, cuddle with the family, no worries. I also used to think the same thing about my childhood dog, Ozzie. Wouldn't that life be great?
The best part of the book is how it's structured. It walks you through everything step-by-step so you can replicate Andy's success in under ten years. That's a short timeline, leaving more years to actually * live * while we exist on this big blue marble.
