"You're pregnant! The child belongs to your new boss! And he wants to fire you!"
I thought I'd dreamed those words, but it's the harsh A year ago, he shamelessly used me and tossed me aside.
Now he's back, threatening my career and making it clear he wants only one Me! Oh God! Should I tell him he's the father of my unborn child?
As an ambitious journalist, I wanted to impress my boss at a company party and climb the career ladder. Instead, I fell into bed with a charming stranger. He vanished by morning—taking my hopes with him.
What I got instead was a child from that passionate night. Soon after, I discovered he was the very man planning to acquire my employer and lay off the entire staff. And I'd already revealed all my company's secrets to him. I vowed never to see him again…
One year later, everything changes. He's purchased the company and become my new boss. Worse I report directly to him—while he remains oblivious about our baby.
But the most shocking part? Marco isn't the man I thought I knew. Cold and calculating, he makes his desires crystal he wants me. And I My body! Nothing more. What will happen to my career? Can I ever trust him again after his betrayal? And what will he do when he discovers the truth about our child?
Marco Vallejo is an extraordinary businessman specializing in acquisitions and restructuring and then resale, all for a profit. He was born to wealth, but he has grown his business exponentially. He is handsome, single, and craves anonymity. He meets Erica Gunner at a cocktail party, where he is seeking information regarding the last acquisition in his sights. They are immediately attracted to each other, go dancing, and have sex. He leaves his apartment early the next morning because his mother has had a heart attack. When he returns, Erica is gone as is the note that she left with her number. Erica discovers that she is pregnant. In the doctor's office, she sees Marco on TV, so she knows who he is. She decides to not tell him and to lie to her family about his identity, saying her pregnancy was from an anonymous one night stand. Marco buys the newspaper where she works. She becomes his acquisition assistant but doesn't tell him about his daughter. He eventually discovers the truth. This is a longer book at nearly 600 pages. The writer weaves an interesting and entertaining story. Marco is a genuinely good man. Erica lies to him and then blames him that she went through pregnancy and labor alone. At one point, she even tries to get sole custody, legally, even though he has done nothing to warrant her behavior. In spite of Erica's behavior, I found this to be a very good book, and I recommend it.
Just after he takes over the comapny she works for, she mentions she was jealous that her co worker who got a promotion for the last week, the promotion happened a year ago. She got back to the office after the party to find out she’d been passed over, the party that happened twelve months ago. Also the author is off base about baby development. The authors made the story one year after the one night stand. So after a nine month pregnancy the baby at most would be three months, four if your being generous and allow for the idea of an early birth, a three month old baby is not crawling into your lap, and you most certainly should not be feeding it Mac and cheese and applesauce. I feel like if you want to include things like babies into your books the research into the development is so easy it should not be so off base.
This book is a sizzling blend of romance, mystery, and emotional depth that delivers far more than its “secret baby” trope might initially suggest. Set against the backdrop of New York's bustling streets of New York, the novel follows Erica, a journalist trying to find her place in the world of work, and Marco, a stranger with secrets of his own.
Their chemistry ignites over some jazz music, leading to a passionate one-night stand. But fate throws them back together, Erica has to decide whether she trusts him enough to share her secret. As the story unfolds, layers of deception, emotional vulnerability, and unexpected twists keep the reader hooked.

This book could have been good but it was corny. Also the author needs to do some research on pregnancy and baby’s. Time line are wayyyyyy off. If a year has gone by since they were together and you are pregnant 9 months then the baby would have been 3 months. But the author was writing the baby as a year old. She wouldn’t be climbing in her lap or eating Mac n cheese or saying mama at 3 months old. After 7 chapters of bad writing I just skipped to the end. Were the little girl should have been about a year old but once again was written as a different age.
Forbidden Desire by Rebecca Baker is the third book in the Baby Confessions Series. I enjoyed reading Erica and Marco's story. Their story had everything, enemies to lovers, second chances and surprise baby. Once I started reading I found it hard to put down. I am looking forward to the next one in the series.

Was passiert müsst ihr schon selber lesen.
Erica is not really a likable character. She was selfish, insecure and purposefully hurtful. Marco was hurtful at times as well, but it was understandable after finding out all the lies Erica told. I honestly don’t know how she could look at him and knowingly hide that he had a daughter. Then the whole idea about him giving up his parental rights, wow, just nasty. Her friend Sadie was horrible as well. It had a happy ending, so there’s that.
A little hard to follow at times. At one point they said it had been a year since Erica and Marco were together but then in the next part it said that Josie crawled over to her mom. Also at the towards the end of the book it said she was in a hotel getting ready but then it said something about the final touches in the back of the church. Over all I loved their story.
I've read all 3 books and I've enjoyed the stories in them. The stories you're told in more detail than a lot of books and some of the angst was a little much for what I would consider real life situation.
I enjoyed reading about Erica and the stranger. It’s a lovely book to read. The author is a great writer. It is a stand alone with a happy ever after. It kept me hooked till the last page. Which is lovely
Yet again, fantastic writing. So many emotions ran through me reading this book, from frustration, to anger, to disbelief and back to frustration. It's a captivating read from start to finish. Would definitely recommend this book. 🥰
