This book came to me at the perfect time and changed how I am sitting with my emotions and memories in EMDR therapy currently. I wish more books were written like this - so many different traditions and perspectives drawn together with a beautiful unity. The word choice and book design made each time I picked up this read quiet, deep, and meaningful.
Margaret Cullen’s book, Quiet Strength, is destined to become a classic. While there are hundreds, if not thousands of books on mindfulness, only a handful of books focus on equanimity. And yet, equanimity is central to mindfulness practice. The author builds upon her extensive background as a Buddhist practitioner and teacher to consider equanimity from other perspectives, most notably Judaism and Sufism. She delves into the scientific literature and research, limited though it still is, examining equanimity and she provides guided meditations helping readers strengthen their own equanimity. Well researched. Well written with a wonderful sense of humor. Highly recommended.
