When Colonel Mattias Ström announces to the world that vampires are very real, he unleashes a wave of panic and fear unlike any seen before. And after centuries of successfully living in the shadows, the small vampire population is also now in a state of turmoil.
Held indirectly responsible for inciting the media exposure, recently converted vampires David and Gabriela now find themselves with targets on their backs.
Unwillingly drawn into this world of blood and destruction, the pair’s abilities are dwarfed by those of the ancient members of their race. How can these fledglings possibly prevail when a powerful cabal seeks vengeance for their role in the disruption of the status quo?
From a young age S.J. Patrick has been an avid reader, with loves spanning between fantasy, science fiction, and especially horror. As a published scientific author, he branched out into fiction in 2021 and had a blast doing so!
Released in 2023 were his first two novels, DARK MATTER and THE SENTIENCE, each combining his dual loves of science and horror into plots both thrilling and scientifically accurate.
In 2024 came an homage to his favourite horror niche, vampires! EXHUMED has become an instant hit in the genre, with a sequel, SIREN, releasing later in the year.
Finally in 2025 released GOLDEN BLOOD which brought the Exhumed trilogy to a thrilling conclusion!
I’m so glad I found these books! They are such a great variation on the vampire story. A lot of them are the same thing with different characters but that’s one truly is different.
The action is constant the villains are gruesome and with every passing book, I care more for the characters!
These books have pruned to be something that you can rely upon for a good solid read!
This was an exciting conclusion to the Golden Blood series with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I've thoroughly enjoyed this epic vampiric journey which started in the Carpathian Mountains in book 1 - Exhumed, then followed on in book 2 - Siren, and finishes here with Golden Blood. The highlight for me has been getting to know the family tree of all these vampires which spans millennia. I loved how all the backstories interconnect from books 1 and 2, and that book 3 reaches back still further into history - Attila the Hun even makes an appearance! Highly recommend reading this series if you enjoy traditional vampire lore and paranormal fiction.
First, thank you to the author for letting me have an ARC copy.
This is the third book in this series. We have Exhumed, Siren and now Golden Blood. S J Patrick is truly so talented. The familiar tropes but the unique storyline. The jumps between present day and historical day. The family trees. The maps. The knowledge! And not only that - the entertaining, interesting, fast moving, and sometimes brutal adventure! Blend it all together and you get something similar to the wonderful writing style of one of my favourites: Michael Crichton.
While Exhumed remains my favourite of the series because I really found that opening so haunting! These next two books have been great too and I'd say Golden Blood follows through on the fast paced adventures even more!
Horror / thriller / mystery / historical fans... Try this one out! I don't think you'll regret it!
Another action-packed installment in an amazing series! No sparkly vampires in these books - all scary and blood-thirsty! It’s a page turner that will have you hooked from the start! 🙌
This can easily be read as a standalone, thanks to the first two prelude chapters that give you background on the characters and the timeline. But the books in this series are all so good that I highly encourage you to start with Exhumed!! 👏
Thank you to S.J. Patrick for the opportunity to read the eARC in exchange for my honest review!! Looking forward to more from you!! ❤️
Well, what a finale to S.J Patrick's vampire series. Loved the way the author tells his story, his characters are very relatable, but the way he weaves the history and the present is really good. The finale in Golden Blood certainly lived up to the other 2 books in the series. Exhumed was a fantastic read, a real page turner and thankfully Siren and Golden Blood live up to it. In all, an excellent read, highly recommend it if you like a good vampire story, but I must warn, it's not for the faint hearted, they are not nice vampires... enjoy.
All in all I really enjoyed this series. But please, friend. Find more derogatory words to call a woman other than slut. I mean, good lord the sheer amount of times that used was used any time a woman was on the page. We get it, there’s bad guys. It just got really repetitive in that way. I also kind of knew what was coming around every turn. Fun read though!
Ever since S.J. Patrick reached out to me to review his previous book - Siren, the second of the Exhumed trilogy, I was hooked. This story arc follows the fight for life of the protagonist - David. A blood scientist who as part of a secret team was studying vampire blood in the hopes to create a vaccine. Unfortunately he got attacked by the vampire they were studying. Golden blood continues to the stories conclusion. I thank the author for reaching out to me inviting me to read this arc. Gothic vampire romance this ain’t! I liken the telling of this story to be science fictional horror. Reminds me a little to the stories by James Herbert
I love how the idea is based on a man in real life who has a rare type of blood of 1 percent in the world and turned it into a trilogy vampire saga. Im attracted to mystery, science, sci fi and thrillers so it really hit home and kept me on the edge of my seat this one. What a great read!
