My Omega Slave: Alpha Jack's Chosen Mate?

Rate this book
"I'm sorry there must be a mistake, there's no way that disgusting Omega slave can be your mate. You must be mistaking him for one of my real men in this room." Alpha Jack speaks to me with nothing but disgust on his face and it is not helping calm the raging anger that I can feel burning through my veins.

My name is Savannah Leigh Johnson, I'm 18 years old and I am the youngest daughter of the Alpha and Luna of the Blue Lake Pack. I am not in a rush to meet my mate, that is until I take a trip with my family to the blood moon pack and finds my mate Theo is an Omega...getting beaten to death.

My name is Theo Marco Rossi. I am 26 years old and I am an Omega slave for the Blood Moon Pack. As soon as Alpha Jack of Blood Moon lays his eyes on Savannah he instantly decides she will be his chosen mate and he will do whatever it takes to get her from me...

Will Savannah be able to save her mate in time or will he die before she gets a chance to know him and how will Savannah handle Alpha Jack and his plans to make her his chosen Luna?

A must-read for fans of steamy werewolf romance, fated mates, alpha rivalry, forbidden love, omega hero, dark romance, love triangle, pack wars, and second chance passion.

Book 1 in the series.

***THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS***

This review is for book 1 of the series only. I haven't read book 2 yet.

The book had a good hook. The tortured weak omega being the male lead instead of the female lead, Savannah, is an interesting twist.

There are so many plot errors and head-scratching details that it kind of ruins the good parts of the novel.

For example:

--The male lead, Theo, is supposed to be 26. He had twin sisters, Emma & Ella, who were four years older than him. Emma was kidnapped by rogues when she was 7 and the MMC was 4. Ella was killed by rogues approximately 2 years prior to the start of the story so she would have been 28.

Emma is described as loving and protective of her brother while Ella is described as selfish and stuck-up. This is illustrated by the retelling of the rogue attack when the MMC was 4. Ella was told by their mother to wake up Emma & Theo and go to the safe house with them. Ella instead doesn't wake up her siblings and goes directly to the safe house to hide. In contrast, Emma wakes up and realizes the attack is happening and does everything in her power to safeguard her little brother.

--The way the author is setting up the story it seems clear that the female lead's adopted older sister Emma (who was adopted at 7 years old) is Theo's long lost sister.

-- The beta of Theo's new pack is named Alex and he is one of the few who is not abusive to Theo in the pack. Alex shares his story that he found his first mate, Anna, at 18 but she was killed in a skirmish with rogues at the border. He goes on to say the he met his second-chance mate Ella at a mating mall when he was 20 but she rejected him because he was a beta and she thought he was beneath her. She was dating the pack's future alpha. He also states that she was vain and selfish so he happily accepted the rejection.

-- It's clear that the author is setting the story so that the Emma adopted by Savannah's family and the Ella who rejected Alex are Theo's siblings.

-- I originally thought that the author was setting up a future conflict where Emma & Alex would be the unprecedented third-chance mates but that they may have issues accepting it because they both have lost two mates. I also thought that since Emma is Ella's twin that they would look alike and that would cause issues for Alex accepting her.

*** I appear to be wrong about part of this because at the end of book 1 Alex has seen Emma and is instantly attracted to her but doesn't have any thoughts of her looking like his former mate so apparently they weren't identical twins. I still think they are supposed to end up together even though it looks like Emma now has a new boyfriend in one of the pack warriors. ***

-- Theo has only told the story of his family to Savannah at this point but I think it's ridiculous that she hasn't even remarked on the fact that Theo's siblings share names with these two people. Especially because Theo's sister Emma's story lines up so much with her sister Emma. It's lazy writing on the author's part to not address this.

-- Also it stretches credulity to think that Emma was adopted at 7 years old which is the same year she was kidnapped. At that point she wouldn't have been away from her family for that long and should have been able to tell her newly adopted parents what pack she came from. They should have been able to reunite her with her family unless the author is going to claim she has amnesia.

-- Also, Theo's flashback states 15 years ago which would make him 19 years old today since he is 4 years old in the flashback. It was stated several times that he is 26 years old and Emma is 4 years older. Savannah's sister Emma is 30 years old which would match to being 4 years older than Theo. The flashback should have been 21 or 22 years ago. Any editor should have caught this.

-- Now for some ridiculous plot points. It's stated that Theo was 23/24 when he came to the Blood Moon pack after his whole family was killed. He began to be abused by the Alpha's son and his friends and eventually after torture was made to agree to be an Omega slave.

As a slave he was beaten and given scraps to eat. He wasn't allowed to use the showers in the pack and had to bathe in the lake outside. He wasn't allowed to watch the television and had to sleep in a shoe cupboard with his only 2 pairs of clothes.

When he meets Savannah he is being beaten by the warriors and the pack Gamma. She gets him to the hospital where they stay for a few days before they escape back to her home pack with her family. Savannah's brothers bring Theo food and clothes while he is in the hospital.

When they are back in Savannah's pack Theo admits to her that he was his original pack's gamma, that he never learned to drive and that he doesn't know how to use a shower.

This is so ridiculous. Theo's pack moved from California to Florida after his sister was kidnapped when he was four years old. He grew up to be the Gamma in charge of training the warriors. He was 23/24 when his pack was wiped out. You mean in 23 years his pack never came across a shower? Also as a pack gamma who would presumably have to go on missions etc no one thought it would be useful for the gamma to be able to drive?

Also, he was in the hospital for a week with Savannah's family bringing him clothes. It was mentioned that there is a shower in his hospital room that Savannah used. It was also mentioned that he was recovered enough to walk. You mean no one ever thought to have him take a shower in the room he was holed up in for a week?

This makes no sense. Before he was tortured and forced to be an Omega slave he was working with the warriors of the Blood Moon pack as requested by the former Alpha Jason when he arrived on pack lands two years ago. He should have had plenty of access to the showers. The only way it would make sense that he didn't know how to shower was if he was abused as an Omega slave since childhood and grew up without basic amenities. That storyline doesn't mesh with the author's story because the author wants to paint the former Alpha Jason of the Blood Moon pack as kind.

There is just too much lazy writing to make the story believable.

Drawn out and rough to read

I wanted to love this book. The plot seems like it has potential but the execution was poorly done. The author chooses to repeat some character recounts from various povs sometimes, then will make a short reference back at others. It felt like the repeating character recounts were just book fillers to make the story longer. There are so many grammar, punctuation and word choice errors that reading it was not enjoyable. The book is part 1 of the series and left off at a point that probably was supposed to make the reader look for the next book. I paid for the 1st book and have no intention of reading the rest of the series despite there being no plot resolution in the first book. My biggest suggestion is the author find someone to proofread future works.

Good Story, Lacks Details

I like the idea of this book but author needs to explain with more detail. It feels like dry or generic conversation that I ended up skipping through most of it. But the idea and main premise of the book is exciting.
