The characters in "Glow" are exceptionally well-developed, each crafted with a unique personality that resonates deeply with young readers, allowing them to forge meaningful connections with the story. The protagonist, Mia, stands out as an exemplary young heroine, expertly guiding readers through her compelling journey of self-discovery, anxiety, and the inevitable changes that life brings. Her experiences are portrayed in a way that makes her story relatable and accessible, encouraging young readers to reflect on their own feelings and experiences. Mia's friends add a vibrant layer to the narrative, infusing it with excitement, fun, and an infectious positive attitude that not only entertains but also inspires readers to explore the world around them with curiosity and enthusiasm. The settings in which Mia's story unfolds are realistic and vividly described, providing a tangible backdrop that enhances the narrative. However, at times, these settings can feel somewhat overshadowed by the unfolding plot and the dynamic character dialogue. This can create a sense of urgency that detracts from the immersive experience. Nevertheless, the writing style is engaging and authentic, effectively highlighting Mia's struggles and triumphs in a way that allows readers to feel as if they are experiencing her journey right alongside her. The emotional depth of the narrative is palpable, capturing the nuances of Mia's experiences with anxiety and the various challenges she faces. The plot itself is interesting and entertaining, weaving together themes of friendship, family, and personal growth. However, the structure of the book, characterized by short chapters and occasional time skips, can create a sense of rushed pacing. This might leave some readers wishing for a more extended exploration of Mia's journey, as they become invested in her character and the world she inhabits. Despite this, the book is well-suited for its target audience of young readers who are seeking an informative and engaging read that captivates their interest from beginning to end. A significant focus of the narrative is Mia's anxiety, which is portrayed with sensitivity and accuracy. As someone who has experienced anxiety, I appreciate how the book illustrates the various manifestations of this condition and offers practical strategies for managing it in daily life. This aspect of the story is particularly important, as it serves to normalize discussions around mental health for young readers, helping them understand that they are not alone in their feelings. The book effectively illustrates the importance of acknowledging and discussing emotions, the true meaning of home, and the notion that not all changes are inherently negative. In fact, sometimes a fresh perspective is all that is needed to appreciate the beauty that can come with change. In conclusion, "Glow" by Emma Meyer transcends being merely a book about anxiety; it is a profound exploration of self-discovery, the acceptance of change, and the invaluable role that friendship and family play in brightening our days. Through shared smiles and adventures, Mia and her friends illuminate the path of growth and resilience, making this book an essential read for young audiences. It encourages them to embrace their feelings, understand the complexities of change, and recognize the support that comes from those who care about them. This narrative not only entertains but also educates, making it a valuable addition to the literary landscape for children.

Glow: An Inspiring Chapter Book for Girls about Anxiety by Emma Meyer
This is a fantastic story about Mia and she lives with her mother in Brooklyn. Mia goes to school and has many friends there, She feels very comfortable in her city and the activates she is able to do. Her mother has bad news for them one night and Mia finds out they must leave the city and head to where the grandfather lives. She is sad to part with her friends and her anxiety is really bad along the trip. It takes them longer than a day in the rusty, old, leaking truck with their things. When they arrive Mia is shocked by the dead town. Nobody is outside and stores appear to be closed. After a nap she wakes up to find hikers come into her grandfather's place and he feeds them. He runs a hiking lodge of sorts and is always busy.
Mia does not like the place, nor the town nor the woods all around them.
She finds others who are about her age and they bond after some time.
I like this story because Mia has to learn patience and she even opens up to her grandfather who helps her out. Love the library and how things with friends are so important to feel a part of something. Each time something good happens Mia glows inside. She even turns the glow onto her mother who is also beginning to love the place. Home is where your heart is and they have found home again. Love hearing of all the treasures the locals show her and how she's able to learn to survive and help others when in need.
Great story, can't wait to read the rest in the seriers.

Don’t Forget to Glow!

This book is so cute and encouraging! I love that the author displays life and the highs and lows through Mia’s story! I love how Mia loves to escapes her tough reality via books- The Hobbit especially. Watching your parent(s) suffer and feeling hopeless is a tough spot to be in! New feelings surfacing such as shame and anxiety are never easy as the life you knew is uprooted and replaced because of life changes. The illustrations are adorable and the book is definitely a must read for young girls!
