I don't really like this book.
First of all I thought the characters were boring.
In the beginning I thought I was going to like Adam, I really WANTED to like Adam but I couldn't. There was just something about him that was so skeevy and ridiculous. And Mally. What is wrong with her? Other than the fact that she was depressed / basically alone, I get that, but her actions and just all of the things she was saying just really turned me off to her. I thought she was whiny and so over dramatic as well. I kept reading because I knew it had to get better, sadly it didn't for me.
Just not my cup of tea.

Mally has been safe in her compound after the post apocalypse. The only contact she has had is a deep sexy voice of a man over the ham radio. Adam comes to her rescue after people break through the walls of her compound. Follow them as they try to fend against the danger of the world and trust each other.

The characters of this story are strong. The men are part of a security Agency that are helping keep the citizens safe. In the post apocalypse of a natural disaster Adam and Mally are trying to learn their position in the new world. Can they trust each other? Can they find happiness in the world of destruction?

I liked that this story covered chaos, suspense, action, and romance. It was a great quick read. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

I received a gift copy in exchange for an honest review. Read and reviewed for Kylie's Fiction Addiction.

I have read many books by this author. Her Hot Zone and Special Investigations Agency series are my favorites. While the premise of this trilogy is interesting -- the a United States is trying to recover from a catastrophic volcano eruption in the mid west. That eruption has caused massive social, physical and economic breakdown in the country. What is missing in the book to me is more explanation as to why such massive breakdowns occurred. Why is there such lawlessness on the east coast. Adam and Mally are a great couple and I gave the book four stars because there story was good.
