Lies Lost and Found is Book 2 in A Lake Amelia Mystery series and I very highly recommend reading book 1 as you do not want to miss vital pieces of character connection that were discovered. This story was a definite roller coaster of emotions, turmoil, danger, secrets and lots of corruptions and hidden truths. This was a story and series that I highly recommend to read.

Rose is back with another gripping investigation on her hands, but never expecting what she was about to uncover. When Rose finds a hidden note and money in her late father's secret compartment in his house, it starts to unravel this mystery..who would have written the note and had this amount of money given to her late father. As the pieces start to come together, learning that abuse of immigrant works comes to light along with corruption and murder. Secrets are revealed, truths wanted to be brushed under the carpet for their protection, Rose continues to pursue to find justice for those who are scared.....but down a rabbit hole....there is more....that leads to the truth about her own father's death.

This was such a good story, with all the twists and turns and not knowing who to trust....I am hoping for another book in this series...........Happy Reading!

This is a gripping small town mystery with an exciting and engaging storyline. Rose is pulled into a dangerous investigation having found a stash of money and a desperate note hidden in her late father’s den. Although injured photojournalist Rose follows the trail of a whistleblower, and at a lakeside inn in the Adirondack Mountains uncovers the abuse of immigrant workers.

Realising that she can’t stop the exploitation of these workers on her own, Rose sets out to find Kelsey Jacob’s who disappeared having discovered the abuse of immigrants years before, but whose investigation lead to death threats. However, no one knows if she’s even still alive. As Rose digs deeper she wonders if her father’s sudden death was actually natural. Rose is determined to bring down the unscrupulous businessman and expose his crimes. She also wants to know if he was behind her father’s death.

I was hooked throughout by this mix of mystery, sisterhood and social justice. The fast paced storyline and plot twists kept me happily turning the pages. Both Rose and Kelsey are strong female characters who are likeable and relatable. I liked the more personal subplot of whether Rose’s father had been murdered as this added an extra dimension to the story.

An enjoyable and engaging novel which I highly recommend!

Rose Webster is carrying out a mission that her father started. She discovers a hidden stash of cash and a desperate note from her late father about some bad happenings in the Adirondack Mountains. She follows the path of a whistle blower that had discovered this same mistreatment of immigrant workers 15 years prior, but the case is becoming bigger than what she can handle. Kelsey Jacobs is looking for a fresh start in upstate New York after getting away from her ex-boyfriend. After finding out about the mistreatment of workers she did some investigating of her own and found that there was a threat against her life. This of course spooked her so she ran. Will Rose be able to find Kelsey and comvince her to help expose the awful happenings? Is Kelsey still in hiding or was she found by the bad guys? How does this all tie in to the untimely death of her father? I was hooked from the beginning. Although this story does touch on a heavy subject that seems to plague all corners of the world, it was done in careful and tasteful manner. A couple of the main characters are heroines fighting for those who are unable to speak up and fight for themselves. There are shady things happening in the Adirondack Mountains that involve some very influential businessmen. Although this is book two in this series I didn't feel like I missed anything. I will be going back to read the first book and I look forward to reading the next one in the series.

Lies Lost and Found pulls you straight into the tangled web of secrets lurking in Lake Amelia. Jacqueline Boulden delivers a mystery that’s not just about whodunit, but why, blending small-town gossip, buried truths, and a dose of social justice that gives the story real weight. Rose Webster is such a compelling lead and The alternating timeline with Kelsey Jacobs kept me hooked; just when I thought I knew where things were going, the past would drop a breadcrumb that changed the whole picture. What I loved most was how the mystery felt layered there’s the personal grief and suspicion over Rose’s father’s death, the cash and note that kick everything off, and the larger, systemic wrongdoing hiding in plain sight. It’s thoughtful without losing its edge, and the pacing makes it easy to devour in a couple of sittings. If you like mysteries with strong female leads, a thread of danger, and secrets that ripple through generations, this is a solid pick especially if you’ve read Family Ties Family Lies already. That said, you could jump in here and still get fully wrapped up in the intrigue.

What a deceitful cover and I mean that in a good way and you’ll understand what I mean once you’ve read this brilliant book !

Kelsey moved to the Adirondack mountains to get away from her past and make a fresh start and where better than in the middle of nowhere but all is not what it seems and she discovers the horrific abuse of immigrants but her investigations put a target on her back and running scared she disappears but the note she left years ago is uncovered by the daughter of the man that specialised in cases like this ….

Rose’s dad has been gone for 25 years and now her mom has also passed on so she goes home and while cleaning g her dad’s bookshelf she makes a discovery , an envelope filled with cash and note sharing the evil that’s going on , Rose is determined to find justice for the voiceless but she needs Kelsey….

I felt sorry for Rose because to be ur felt like she had to mourn the kiss if her dad all over but at the same time I admire her guts , strength and fearlessness to solve the mystery and right the wrong despite the powers they come up against ❣️

An absolute banger of a read ❣️📕

I read this book as an advanced reader copy from Book Sirens for my honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. I have never read anything by this author and did not know that this was part of a series and was still able to pick it up and read it with no problems. I love the pacing of this book. Normally I struggle with the past and present, back and forth storylines but in this book the transitions were smooth. I love how the women are written not as your typical crime fighters but instead are fighters for those without a voice.

I definitely am going to go back and read other books by this author and refer her to friends who enjoy mysteries.

"Lies Lost and Found" continues the story from "Family Ties, Family Lies." Rose Webster is still living in the family home following the passing of her mother and is on the path to recovery from her injuries, gaining strength every day.

As she contemplates whether to remain in Lake Amelia or return to her city life once she is well enough to work, Rose decides to go through her father's office and organize it. To her shock, she discovers a hidden letter along with $10,000 that had been stashed away just before her father’s sudden death 15 years earlier.

Determined to uncover the source of the money and its significance, Rose finds herself drawn into a dangerous underworld of abuse and human trafficking. This puts her and others at risk from criminal forces eager to keep their secrets buried.

Amidst her rehabilitation and the grief of losing her mother, Rose's strong sense of justice compels her to pursue the truth, refusing to walk away from the danger that surrounds her.

Excellent story! Rose embarks on another family mystery after she finds an envelope hidden in a secret compartment within the bookshelf in her Fathers den. From there the story switches from 2010 to present time unfolding a gripping tale of abuse and human trafficking of immigrants and possibly even murder in upstate New York. The story is engaging, never a dull moment and I appreciate the strong female leads in this tale. Jacqueline Boulden writes in a style that flows easily and keeps you on track with the story she is telling, all through my day I couldn’t wait to pick up and continue reading this book! Now can’t wait for the next one from her!

I read the previous novel some time ago. I was pleased that the second story was so seamless that anything I had forgotten was brought back to memory with subtle reminders throughout the book. Plenty of action for a recuperating main character. I like Maxi a lot and would like to see more of her in future books. Solid plot.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The was a gripping, well-written addition to the Lake Amelia series. The pacing was perfect: fast enough to keep the tension high, but with enough depth to stay emotionally grounded. The plot was full of twists I didn’t see coming.

Rose, the main character, continues to be a standout for me. She’s smart, determined, and incredibly relatable, and I loved following her deeper into the layered mystery that unfolds in this book. Her strength and vulnerability are written so authentically that I felt completely invested in her journey.

If you’ve read the earlier book in the series, this one is a must. And if you’re new to Jacqueline Boulden’s writing, you’re in for a treat. This is a story that stays with you after the last page, and I already can’t wait for what comes next.

Book two wastes no time piquing one’s interest. Finding money hidden away in her deceased father’s office Rose wonders where it came from. From there it hooked me in. Great read, makes you think about some things on a serious note. What’s going on? Did this somehow also have something to do with her father’s death? I’ve never read anything around this type of subject, a definite must read, really does make you think, and pray for justice. Trying not to spoil anything. Already dealing with injury, grief, Rose has a lot she’s going through but, her strength is inspiring.

I really enjoyed Lies Lost and Found by Jacqueline Boulden. It starts with a photojournalist finding $10,000 hidden in her late dad’s office—and from there, the mystery takes off. The story dives into some dark territory, including a human trafficking ring, but it’s handled with care and kept me turning the pages. I especially loved the strong female characters and the suspenseful ending. Definitely worth a read!

Having read the previous book, I expected this one to be a good read. However, I didn’t expect it to be quite as gripping as it was. As soon as I started reading this book I could not put it down. I was completely drawn to the story and wanted to see how everything would play out. It was intriguing and a really exciting story overall.
It was so easy to reconnect with these characters as well. And even though they are familiar there was still a lot of character development taking place and I felt like I learnt more about them as the story progressed. I was fully invested in them from start to finish. This is a fantastic and well written book and I cannot wait to see what else this author produces.

I was so happy to see this book come out. The first one is amazing and totally worth the read, though I believe you could read this as a standalone without being too confused.
This book continues right after the first one, sucking you in from the beginning and keeping you there, wanting to find out more in every aspect.
Kirk is the typical big brother in many ways and often when Rose contacts him about things he more so sees her as his annoying sister often writing off what she says a little too quickly. But Rose is really finding out important information even if she may be starting with very minimal information. The way the story jumps back and forth keeps it interesting in both aspects as you are waiting to see how these stories intersect and what will come of it.
This is an amazing book that will keep you guessing in what is going on, what truly happened, and who to trust.

This is book number 2 of the Lake Amelia Series. I have not read the first book yet. Although I will say that you don’t really need to read them in order. In this one, Rose Webster is going over the office of her dad’s to clear it out. You see she lost her dad 15 years before from a heart attack. However, she recently lost her mom. In the process of losing her mom she found out a few things about her dad and a secret “family”. This book is rather long and emotional but it really hits home for those who have lost family unexpectedly.

Jacqueline Boulden’s Lies Lost and Found is a tense, emotionally resonant mystery that blends investigative grit with a fierce call for justice. Set against the quiet beauty—and hidden darkness—of a small Adirondack town, the novel follows photojournalist Rose Webster as she digs into the secrets her late father left behind.

What begins with a mysterious note and a stash of hidden cash spirals into something far more dangerous. Rose, sidelined by injury but not by instinct, uncovers a web of exploitation and silence surrounding immigrant workers at a local lakeside inn. As she pieces together a whistleblower’s forgotten trail, she finds herself chasing not just justice—but the truth about her own father’s suspicious death.

Boulden crafts a layered narrative, weaving Rose’s investigation with the story of Kelsey Jacobs, a woman who once tried to expose these crimes and nearly lost her life in the process. Their parallel journeys converge in a powerful way, bringing to light the cost of speaking up—and the price of staying silent.

The strength of this novel lies in its mix of fast-paced suspense, character-driven emotion, and real-world relevance. Boulden doesn’t shy away from tough topics—labor exploitation, immigration, and corruption—but handles them with nuance and empathy. Rose is a compelling protagonist: flawed, determined, and deeply human.

While the pacing occasionally slows to dive into backstory, the tension never disappears for long. And by the end, the story delivers both a satisfying resolution and a haunting reminder of how often power protects itself at any cost.

Final thoughts: Lies Lost and Found is more than a mystery—it’s a bold, thought-provoking thriller that explores the intersection of personal grief, moral courage, and systemic injustice. For readers who enjoy socially-conscious suspense with strong female leads, this one should go to the top of the list.

Lies Lost and Found is Book Two in the Lake Amelia Mystery series. It is a women’s fiction mystery suspense with corruption, sisterhood, resilience, and themes of social justice and family drama. I highly recommend reading the first book in the series for full context. The story is set in the Adirondack Mountains in small-town New York and centers around FMC Rose Webster, a photojournalist recovering from injury. Rose discovers a hidden stash of money and a desperate note in her late father's den. Her investigation uncovers the abuse of immigrant workers at a lakeside inn. Rose seeks help from Kelsey Jacobs, who moved to upstate New York to escape an abusive relationship. Kelsey vanished years earlier after receiving threats for investigating the same abuse. Rose suspects her father’s death may not have been natural and becomes determined to expose a powerful businessman’s crimes. This story is fast-paced and blends mystery, danger, secrets, and a quest for justice. I loved the characters of both Rose and Kelsey who embody themes of sisterhood, resilience, and moral courage, making them compelling leads in a mystery that blends personal stakes with social justice. Rose is determined, justice-driven, courageous, and resilient. She refuses to back down despite personal risk and pushes through physical and emotional setbacks to pursue the truth. Kelsey is resourceful, independent, and brave. She is a powerful ally to Rose in exposing systemic exploitation.

Rose Webster is back and is still recovering from the trauma of the last few weeks, but she has begun the process of cleaning the house and making it feel more like a home, so when she comes across a hidden compartment in her father's study, which is filled with cash and a hand written note, she is thrown for another loop. As there is no name on the note, she starts to ask around and find out who wrote it, but as it was from before her father passed away, a good fifteen years ago.

Kelsey was a paralegal and escaped to a small town to escape from an abusive ex, however, when she discovers the abuse of immigrant workers in a local hotel, however, someone doesn't want her looking too deeply into this and she begins to receive threats against her life and so she hands over what she has found and packs up again.

As Rose continues her investigation, she comes across the name Kelsey and follows this lead to try and find her, hoping to gather some more information, however, as she digs deeper, Rose begins to receive threats herself, but her determination wins out. Will Rose be able to find Kelsey and find out the information which is vital to her investigation and bring down a corrupt individual, or will that individual get to her first? This is a tantalising mystery with twists, turns, secrets and revelations as a fifteen year old mystery is unravelling and coming back into the light.

Lies Lost and Found is an excellent addition to the series!

The book opens not long after the revelations in the first book! It seems Rose’s father had more than one secret. As she is going through her late mother’s home, she finds $10,000 in cash and a note in her father’s den. There was no signature on the note, and it appears the person who wrote it may have been in danger. Not only does Rose want to return the money, but she also wants to know why this person felt like they were in danger. So, she enlists a former colleague of her father’s and her newly discovered half-sister, Maxi, to help her. She has no idea what kind of danger she is about to put herself in.

The book takes place in dual timelines and dual characters. After much digging, she discovers who the mysterious writer of the note is. She knows she has to find her to figure out what role her father played in the mystery. Is the writer even still alive? Without ruining anything, she does discover a dark sex trafficking ring involving immigrants. The writer handles it with such care and compassion.

This book has much more intrigue, mystery, and suspense than the first book did. But the first book laid a foundation for the series going forward. I loved the additional secondary characters, and I’m very interested to see what Rose’s plans are after the ending of this particular book.

I just finished Lies Lost and Found, and I’m still thinking about it. This wasn’t just a mystery—it felt like peeling back layers of grief, injustice, and buried truth right alongside the main character, Rose.

What really drew me in was Rose herself. She’s not your typical invincible thriller heroine—she’s recovering from an injury, grieving her father, and doubting everything she thought she knew about her family. But when she finds that stash of money and the desperate note, she doesn’t back down. Her need to know the truth—especially when it starts to look like her father’s death wasn’t natural—makes the story feel intensely personal. I was rooting for her the whole way.

The mystery surrounding Kelsey Jacobs—who tried to expose the exploitation of immigrant workers years ago but then disappeared—adds this haunting sense of unfinished business. I kept wondering if she was alive, what really happened, and whether Rose would be able to piece it all together before someone tried to silence her too.

There’s also this underlying theme of justice and fighting for people who don’t have a voice. It made the stakes feel real—not just about solving a crime, but about doing the right thing, even when it’s dangerous.
