***Mistake is book four in the Breaking the Rules series, but can be read as a standalone.***

Opal Redding has led a life full of mistakes. She left home at an early age to pursue a dream and follow her sister to the big city. Unfortunately, that dream turned into a nightmare when she landed in the clutches of the evilest and vilest of men.

Luckily, she escaped.

Now, four years later, Opal has buckled down and focused on never making mistakes that hurt her or those around her ever again. She went after her college degree and the sexy investment banker, Trent Sutton.

For four long years, she cultivated their friendship in hopes of, one day, running off into the sunset with her prince.

As graduation nears, Trent finally notices her as a desirable woman and not just a friend. All of her hard work is finally paying off. The white picket fence and two point five kids are within her grasp.

Until she meets him.

Thad Sutton lives in the shadow of his brother. Fresh out of rehab with a hopeful outlook on life, Thad meets Opal and is drawn to her more than any drug ever could. But is she toxic to his recovery?

When Opal is faced with a decision between two brothers, the right choice and the awful choice, she finds her resolve to have a perfect life begin to falter.

Will she choose the right path? Or will she make the biggest mistake of her life?

Another 5 star read. Shocker there. Not really because that's how K Webster rolls!! Mistake is book 4 in the Breaking the Rules series. You can read it as a standalone, but why on earth would you?? Books 1-3 are freaking amazing and so is this one so you should read them all!! Opal is Olive's little sister who makes nothing but bad decisions. In Olive's book we find out that Olive's stalker, Drake, is practically holding Opal hostage. Jackson and Bray are the Knights in shining armor and rescue Opal and are able to send Drake to jail. Opal's book picks up 4 years later. She's definitely gotten her life together and is determined to live out the American Dream with successful investment banker, Trent. Unfortunately, Trent doesn't really seem interested in Opal in the same way, but he eventually asks her out. Opal is still convinced that Trent is the guy for her until her whole world is turned upside down when Trent's sexy, rebellious brother walks in and they literally can't take their eyes off of one another! Thad has just spent two months in rehab and all he wants to do is get his life on the straight and narrow. He definitely didn't see falling head over heels for his brother's 'friend' in his future.

Man, I loved this story! I loved that these good things kept happening to Opal! It was just a feel good book that did have its dark moments, but it just overall made me smile! Thad and Opal are possibly my new favorite couple because they were just so real with each other from day one and their chemistry, oh my! Too hot for words! ;)
I will say that I have all kinds of anxiety now though after reading that expert from Andi and Jackson's next book, Crushed! Thanks a lot, Kristi! ;)

Love this book!! K. Webster’s Breaking the Rules series is one of my favorites. Mistake is an excellent addition to this series. Opal and Thad are fascinating characters. They are both so weak and yet so strong at the same time.
Opal and Thad both struggle from their own forms of addiction. Thad’s is more what you would expect. He has just returned from rehab for alcohol and drugs, and is determined to finally turn his life around. When he meets Opal, she is like a life line to help him crawl out of the whole he has dug himself. Despite her being on a “date” with his brother, Thad doesn’t waste any time in pursuing Opal and convincing her that they should be together.
Opal is determined to correct the mistakes of her past and in doing so, has created an addiction, in a way, of her own. She is blind to anything but the plan she laid out for herself. Graduate college, take a job in Jackson and Jordan’s company, marry the stable, trustworthy guy, have 2.5 kids…blah, blah, blah. She is so focused on this rule that she can’t look beyond Thad’s past and see what a future together could look like.
In my opinion, this book took a really unique twist on a story line shaped by dependence. Opal’s goal is stop making mistakes, to find a steady, safe life. And yet, Thad seems to be the more reasonable voice between the two of them. He sees the reality in front of them and knows that despite the trials they would face, they could be the solution to each other’s’ internal battles. But, Opal’s stubbornness is causes Thad to rethink this view when it becomes clear that obsession besides alcohol and drugs can be just as debilitating. Thad begins to question whether or not he can handle his own recovery while being Opal’s rock. His foundation is shaky enough without taking on the burdens of another person. It’s so unusual to see a character like Thad’s be the more reasonable and resolute person. He struggles, a lot, but his perception is real. Opal is so lost in her delusions of what her life should be that she doesn’t even see the detriment it is to her life.
K. Webster always write characters that come alive. Thad and Opal have such distinct personalities. I was rooting for them, hurting for them, and angry at their stupidity. Their struggles were real, it wasn’t cliché or unrealistic, as so many novels that deal with addiction are.
We get to see some of Andi and Jackson in the story as well. Again, K. Webster brings a unique aspect to the story, showing that after the HEA, life isn’t perfect. Andi and Jackson both have volatile personalities, however it is clear in this book as it is in all the others, that their love will weather the storms. Their struggle in this book was devastating and it broke my heart for them. I was sad to see the series end, but then I got to the surprise first chapter of the next book at the end! I sighed in relief to know that there was more because things were not all wrapped up with Andi and Jackson.
Opal and Thad have only addicted me to this series even more!

4.5 Stars!!

I know I was a little late to the party in reading this series, so when I heard that there was going to be a Book 4, I got so excited. Just when I think it's impossible to love a character more, K. Webster, gives me a new one and totally blows my mind.

Opal has lived her life, making one mistake after another. Her last mistake turned into a real live nightmare that she barley survived. Now, it's four years later. She's almost finished with school and has finally caught the eye of Trent. She's about to get everything that she's always dreamed of, until she meets Thad....

Thad is dealing with his own mistakes. Now that he's out of rehab, he realizes that he's got to make some changes in his life. Fighting temptation and keeping his demons at bay is no easy task. And when Thad meets Opal, he will be faced with his biggest temptation of all.....

I loved Opal and Thad together. They shared an instant, but real connection. Thad was definitely not in Opal's plans and boy did she try to deny her feelings for him, but I knew it would only be a matter of time. Opal will soon realize that sometimes the things we don't plan for, are the very best for us.I loved that both Opal and Thad were flawed. They both had strong demons to fight. But they both shared an amazing determination to not let those things pull them down and dictate how they would live their life.

"My entire life has been one big mistake. Every decision I make always ends up being the wrong one"

Even though life has thrown them lots of curve balls and made the path to happiness difficult, neither one of them gave up and the end result was amazing.

K. Webster has this way of drawing me in to each story and completely captivating my attention. I love that she always makes sure to include the characters that we've loved from previous books. I don't know about you, but I always love seeing what they're up to once their book is over: the good, the bad and the ugly.

This book had it all for me: romance, steam, angst, a mini love triangle and even some action. There were also a few good surprises thrown in along the way. Mistake was definitely a quick and easy read for me, but I loved every minute of it.

Opal Redding has had a crush on Trent Sutton for 4 long grueling years. She has been working along side him without ever telling him her true feelings. She works for Jackson and Jordan, she is best friends with Andi and has been going to school to get her degree. She loves her sister, niece and brother in law so much but she just wants a family of her own one day, with Trent of course. But will he ever notice her? Opal is a beautiful bombshell that deserves to be noticed! Trent takes Opal to his mother's for dinner, this is where she meets Thad. Thad is the "loser" brother that is always put down and nobody respects.

Thad Sutton has just left Rehab and is trying desperately to turn his life around. There is always an evil person in every book isn't there? In this case, it's Thad's mother. She purposely puts him through hell and tests him, why can't this evil wench just love her child unconditionally? Thad finds Opal sexy and thinks his brother is the biggest idiot on earth. This is better for him to try to make his move on Opal.

Opal is there for Thad in a way nobody has ever been. This is a story about two people who find strength and love within each other. There are definitely some nice surprises in store for Opal, that's all I can say! Some enemies just may or may not show up when least expected... You just have to read this book to find out all the juicy details! As usual, I love this entire series and once again, Mistake is another wonderful read with some hot steamy sex scenes with sexy men. My favorite part of course was seeing the characters in the prior books in this series and what they have been up to 4 years later. I'm a die hard Andi and Jackson fan! I love any book in this series as long as I get to see more about my book boyfriend Jackson! LOL! Okay, back to the subject at hand, Mistake was fabulously written and I definitely recommend it. K Webster kicks ass once again and you will not be disappointed! Happy Reading!

WOW!!! What to say about this book other then WOW it's simply freaking amazing. If you haven't read this series you really early NEED to and I am not even joking. My first thought after reading this book was, HOLY F**KING S**T that was awesome!!! This book has twists and turns that you wouldn't even imagine. When I got done with the third book SCARRED there was an excerpt for this book. When I read the excerpt I thought I knew what was going to happen but I was entirely wrong. I had no freaking idea. I could not put this book down. Hell I couldn't put any of the books from this series down.
Well let's start with Opal. She is so sweet, kind, innocent in ways, and wears her heart on her sleeve. She loves those she cares about completely and will protect them, defend them, and completely shock you. She thought she had her whole life figured out, along with who her person forever would be and her white picket fence happy ending. Man was she wrong.
Now on to Thad. He is a man battling his demons everyday. His family treats him like the black sheep of the family. They truly are a bunch of head up their butts baboons, but you'll find out for yourself I'm sure. He is also fiercely protective, kind, a total sweetheart, and total alpha you just want to maul to death ;)
They both have a long a bumpy road ahead of them. it is ride is well worth it after everything they have been through, both growing up and together. I highly recommend this ENTIRE series. I know you would thoroughly enjoy it. HAPPY READING!!!!!

K Webster has done it again in this super steamy series of young professionals based in New York City. This time out we learn about Opal Redding, Olive's little sister and Compton Enterprises secretary. Opal is beautiful, charismatic and intelligent. She is working her way to a bachelor's degree in investment banking at CUNY and hoping to move up to a better position within Compton Enterprises once she graduates. She is tired of making "mistakes" and disappointing her mother and herself so she decides that she will follow a set of self imposed rules and only date the right kind of guys hence the crush she has had on Trent Sutton. Finally after four long years Trent asks her out and Opal couldn't be happier until she meets his brother. Thad Sutton is a "hot mess" he is recently out of rehab and had to move back home with a mother who ignores his existence unless it is to yell at him and a brother who openly despises him. Thad does not play by any rules nor does he care what his mother or brother think of him but the moment he meets Opal everything changes. The chemistry Opal and Thad have is explosive and smoking hot but will it last, or is this just another one of Opal's "mistakes" ?

I've been hoping Opals story would be written after reading Scarred, Olives (Opals sister) story. When all you've done is make mistakes that not only hurt you, but the people you love most you start reevaluating your life and the decisions you make. Theirs only so much one person can take before it starts to change them, or they decide to change. In this case Opal has had enough of living on the edge and letting the wind take her away, it's only led to destruction. She decides she's going to have a plan. A plan for a better Opal and a better life. Well the plan that is supposed to give her a happy ending doesn't go exactly as planned. She's faced again with a difficult choice. Her mind and heart both warring for different things. Which man will end up choosing... The perfect man, respectable, loyal, hard working or the man everyone thinks is a mistake, nobody understands him... Not really... Until Opal. Will the man who she's been fighting years for give her up without a fight or will she get what she's wanted all along?

It's really hard to choose... But this one is one of my new favorites by the fabulous K Webster. I'll reread this whole series multiple times in my future. I love it.

I was given an ARC of Mistske. All I can say is that this book is simply Incredible and what a great story Opal and Thad's book is. These two characters are each broken and in their own way and each have Mistzkes between but when they meet the chemistry and connection is explosive right from the beginning. The two of them go through a rollercoaster of emotion but all that you are hoping for is their HEA and the end of their journey. This is book four in this series and let me say that with each book the series gets better and better. You are totally vested in all these characters and you can't wait for the next one to come out to see where they will go from here. Don't not only read this book but the whole series you will not be disappointed in the least

Kristi kristi kristi...... you've done it yet again! Thad and Opal are amazing!!! Thad is a freakin sweetheart out of this world! omg! I love him. He's so sexy and sweet. he may have made some mistakes in his past but he's more than making up for it in the present to make his future with Opal better. Opals sweet yet spunky/sassy attitude is awesome. I love her! instead of trying to sugar coat everything and make everything OK she faces her fears and moves on. I love how she's so matter of fact and blunt. the chemistry between Thad and Opal is fuckin hawt!!!!! You can slice the sexual tension with a knife. This book is freakin amazing and I can't wait for more! Get ready to fall in love with Thad ladies! He will melt your panties right off! ;)

I just loved this book, but that is no surprise since I loved the other 3 books in this series. Thad and Opal were so cute and I love how she stood up for him with his family. You may think Opal is a quiet person but she is so strong willed and tells it like it is. Thad is the perfect guy and is so freaking sweet. You are rooting for the two of them from the start. I can't wait for the next book in this series! Another job well done by K. Webster.

"Mistake"... as in "I made a mistake reading this book." My original review still stands - this book was terrible. Below is what I wrote after the first six or seven chapters, and it didn't get any better from there. If anything, it got worse. Glad to be done with it. Never reading anything by this author again. The writing was terrible, not just the storyline.

Original review: I'm not near finished yet, but I can't stand it so far. Here's a quick rundown: Opal has her sights set on co-worker Trent for four years, finally gets two kinda dates from him, then immediately sleeps with his brother, Thad, having literally just met him less than two hours before. What?! I have a problem with insta-love to begin with, but this one was ridiculous. Did they even say five sentences to each other before going at it? I honestly don't think they did. She goes to Trent's house for family dinner. Thad comes out of his room and swats her on the butt (which she does nothing and says nothing about). Thad and Opal share smoldering stares with each other through dinner. Opal gets upset because Trent leaves her at his house for a work emergency, so she goes into the bathroom. Thad jimmies the lock to break into the bathroom, they make out, clothes start coming off, and they have sex. What the heck? This is a stupid book. Little to no character development for the individual characters and definitely no development between the characters to make you feel anything for them. It's been less than 24 hours and Thad's already obsessed with her and she's close behind, and now she's still trying to go on another date with the brother Trent? I hate this so far, so much. It's been boring, underdeveloped, and the dialogue sucks. I foresee speed-reading the rest of this crap. Can I give this less than one star somehow?

I enjoyed this book about Opal and Thad. Opal starts off life wrong when she follows Drake to the city to model. Drake beats her and ties her up, but he leaves his phone out when he passes out drunk. Opal calls her sister for help and Brayden and Jackson show up to save her. She's finally free.

Opal goes to college for Investment Banking and graduates. Trent, her fantasy man finally asks her out, so her plan is working. She goes out with Trent and meets his brother Thad. Trent is the golden child of the family and Thad is the black sheep.

Trent leaves her with his vile mother and goes to take care of business, but Thad finds Opal in the bathroom crying. Thad takes her home and cares for her.

Not Bab

I enjoyed this book, but it felt a little rushed. There was a lot packed into this book and I felt some things didn’t get the full attention it deserved. It was all go go go from the start. Don’t get me wrong I was hooked from page one and couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed the drama and the storyline, I just felt it could have been longer.

Still a good read.

well this series by K.Webster just gets better and better with every installments. Mistake is Opals story, she has been wanting Trent Sutton for four years, but Trents Brother Thad throws a spanner in the works.

Opal has been making mistakes all her life, but when Thad Sutton walks into her life, together they help each other heal. They are each other's Rock and together they can concur anything.

Like in all the books in this series not everything is smooth sailing, they have their ups and downs but communication and forgiveness helps them stay on a straight and narrow.

You will also have a lot of drama as in the other books and like always the old gang stick together to help support and encourage the union.

You will find family does heal and forgiveness will always help to bring family together.

I loved this book and can't wait for Trent's story in book 5. This is definitely a keep series and you want get boarded rereading it. I gave this book 5 stars and the series as a whole is outstanding.

Despite the claim that this book can be read as stand-alone, I still feel that you have to read the #1, #2 and #3 to at least get a general picture of the story.

Because I just felt lost most of the time I was reading it.

Opal and Thad, both had tragic stories in the past. While the plot was moving, I felt like it was rather rushed. Because all of a sudden, 1 - Opal and Thad, who just met for few days, decided they were for each other; 2 - the appearance of Dr Martin Ellis *cough*; 3 - the behaviour change in Dr Evette Sutton aka Trent and Thad's refined mother.

It was like everything was just put in one story with quite a weak background supporting it.

*****

It would be different (maybe?) if I had read the previous books first.

Thad is a delicious black sheep of the family and everyone expects him to screw up. He's hit rock bottom and he's trying to find his way.

Opal is a gorgeous woman that has lived her life feeling like she was a mistake from the day she was born. She's made some bad choices, but she's on her way to getting her life in order.

Thad and Opal appear to be an odd couple in the beginning but you quickly learn that they have an electric attraction to each other and their love story is scorching hot.

I hope you love Thad and Opal as much as I did!

*** obsessed by books arc given for an honest review * * *

I haven't read the other books in this series, but what I can tell Opal has made alot of bad choices in her life and she has decided to make a plan for herself that will make her life perfect, and it involves her life crush Trent, if only she can get Trent to notice her. When Trent ask her out she thinks this is the start of her life plan, but she didn't know someone like Thad would enter her life. this was a good read the chemistry was hot, the sex was hotter. This characters are different, but the same.

De los dos libros que leí de Webster en esta serie debo decir que son terrible decepción, no aporta nada que no hayamos leído en otra historia y jamás logró mantener mi interés por un capítulo entero.
