Restoring Justice: A police romance novella
When a date turns dangerous, Saskia Hernandez finds herself in a state of fear, her trust shattered as she descends into darkness. Her savior, casting a glimmer of light in her moment of panic, is a man she steals glances from at the courthouse - Mitchell Alvarez.
In the cold aftermath, when the whispers of danger trail her every step like a relentless shadow, Saskia struggles to go back to normalcy. And with nowhere left to turn, she finds solace in Mitch's presence. He's more than just the man who pulled her from the brink—he's a protector against her fears, a healer against her trauma.
As the threat looms near, Mitch vows to stand between Saskia and the man that seeks his abductee back. With each passing day, their bond deepens. Yet, the closer they grow, the riskier their situation becomes. He's overstepping the line and putting his job in jeopardy.
Will justice be restored before their chance at love is damaged beyond repair? Between the breathless chase for safety and the heartbeat of new love lies a fight for what Saskia and Mitch truly desire.

Title: Restoring Justice: Sin City Novellas (Book 2)
Author: Esme Lennon
Genre: Dark Romance
Pages: 179
Rating: 4⭐️/5
“I should have trusted my gut.”
Saskia’s a 25-year-old reporter who lives for her job. She’s not into dating, but she gives Chris one last shot—a guy who claims to be a cop and looks nothing like his old dating pics. One drink in and she’s drugged. Vision blurry, body heavy, world spinning. Detective Mitch Alvarez saves her just as she’s blacking out. He’d been investigating after someone carried an unconscious woman out of The Rose Tavern earlier. Saskia almost became another missing case—the kind her friend Indie tried reporting but was told to wait. Saskia and Mitch know each other from work, and that personal connection makes everything hit harder—there’s something about finding a victim who isn’t just a case file that captures that drowning feeling of dread. The scary part? Chris doesn’t usually return for his victims. But he didn’t finish with Saskia. Nobody knows if he’s coming back.
What I loved most about Restoring Justice was how clean this short story was, with solid storytelling, consistent characters, and no confusing plots. Beyond the suspense, this story is a major wake-up call for women about dating app dangers and how creeps operate. This is the kind of thriller that entertains while making you more aware—definitely recommend!
A big thanks to Esme Lennon for providing me with a digital ARC of this book!
Releasing 06/15/25 on Amazon, KU, and paperback.

Thank you Esme Lennon for an ARC of this book!
This was such a captivating read, a dash of suspense and a whoollleee lot of anxiety 😂 I’m one of those readers that gets second hand anxiety from reading, and the way I rushed through this book in one sitting to get to the end 😮💨
I loved Mitch! He was so possessive and protective, loved his little pet name for her ❤️ Saskia was a strong FMC and while she went through A LOT, she had enough trust and security to feel ok with her chosen people ❤️
This is a SUPER short read, and yet it felt like a good length for the storyline! Not too short, no holes to fill in the plot, I could see this being a fuller book in that there could be scenes added but they weren’t necessary for the novella.
The spice was spicing! There are only a few scenes (short book) but they were sooo good!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️

I really enjoyed this novella. Sometimes, I find that reading a novella gives my brain a little reset.
Esme wrote this with the perfect amount of romance and suspense. I've come to realise that is something I really enjoy in books, I need the romance, I need the suspense, the drama and I need the possessive MMC and Mitch was definitely that.
Saskia goes on a date and quickly starts to panick when she realises the man has clearly used an old photo. Mitch knows Saskia from the court house and quickly wants to find her when a call comes in.
Mitch and Saskia find their own love story between all the darkness!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this novella by Esme, and you could definitely see the growth in her writing from her previous books.
There was the perfect amount of suspense and romance, and I felt like you could feel what the characters were feeling while reading the scenes.
I hope that Esme writes some more stories like this in the future as I loved the whole suspense aspect with the justice system involved. It definitely kept me on my toes as a reader, and I feel like Esme has really found her voice in her writing.
