This is a psychological thriller with the perfect ingredients to make an addictive and suspense filled read!

My Family Lies introduces us to Dominic, Eloise, and Victoria Hawthorne. Victoria is Dominic's mother and has spent her life fulfilling Dom Dom's needs. Even as an adult, he is still DomDom to her. Eloise is Dominic's wife. She strives to be the perfect wife for Dom. Until the night, Dom has a car accident. This is the cataclysmic event that starts everyone's secrets to unravel. All both women want is for Dominic to recover, but as the secrets are revealed, will anything be the same again?

I love unreliable characters, and this is a story packed with them! It makes for a tense read. As the chapters flew by, I just wanted to know if my guesses were right! Well, maybe not, but it was exciting to find out. As the unravelling began, I couldn't stop reading for a minute.

N.J. Moss is a master at this type of storytelling. It does get a little dark, but it just adds to the addictiveness of the tale. I can't wait for his next one!

Forty-three-year-old Dominic Hawthorne, owner of a successful string of hotels and now a university professor, is a deeply troubled soul. One night, while his trophy model wife Eloise, an aspiring novelist and secretly pregnant with the baby he does not want, is upstairs writing, he downs nearly a whole bottle of whiskey and heads off to confront his mother, a ghastly woman who writes a strange rambling “mama bear” blog and still calls her grown up son “Dom Dom”. Eloise finds a smashed mirror, a dropped mobile and the landline left off the hook. What happened to make him drive off in such a state? He crashes the car and ends up in hospital in an induced coma, reliving his childhood of being raised by his very controlling mother after his father was gone. His female passenger endures an even worse fate. With Dominic languishing in hospital, those left behind must all confront their broken pasts.
This story has more twists than a curly-wurly, as all the main characters have secrets they are desperate to keep buried. A bewildering array of shocks and surprises are revealed as the story progresses and no one is what they seem. Told from various standpoints, this is a cleverly written and thoroughly engrossing thriller from the pen of a master storyteller.

This psychological thriller is masterfully crafted, with an ingenious plot that maintains a high-speed tempo throughout.

It is deliciously twisted, as expected from this author, but this time he’s taken a more subtle approach, making the story even more engaging and believable. Nathan has clearly put immense thought and care into portraying the three women in his narrative. At times, his words are deeply poignant, but as the characters' flaws begin to surface, his dark and twisted storytelling shines. While I didn’t fully like or trust any of these women, I was captivated by how far each would go to protect themselves. I genuinely had no idea where the story was heading, but it was undoubtedly in the right direction.

The understated approach to the characters, rather than overhyping them, really works. The story is wonderfully dark and twisted, with each page carrying its own energy. I raced through the book, unable to stop thinking about what might happen next. Even after finishing, the characters lingered in my mind. The ending was gloriously unexpected and immensely satisfying.

This is an absolute must-read.

Nathan Moss, this is your best work yet! Wishing you the best of luck and I hope you gain many, many more readers.

This is the story of Dominic, his mother and his wife each chapter told from their perspectives. Dominic has a secret and when driving to his mother Victoria’s to finally have it out with her, his car crashes leaving him in a coma. Victoria is a controlling parent- even to a grown child- and wants to protect the family secret. Eloise, Dominic’s wife, has her own turmoil but tentatively helps Victoria however it appears no-one is safe. There is a woman being held captive by another woman- both of whom know Dom. What the connection is we don’t yet know. Will the secrets finally be aired?

OMG! If you want a read that throws you around, spins a little and then a tower of terror ride just for good measure- this could well be the one! It’s clever and calculated and has that special Nathan touch, the slightly dark edge to give that anticipation of what might be to come. A read where I found I didn’t trust any of the characters, as just around the corner there could be……. Well anything! A stunning, thrilling read- wow!

This is a great story which pulled me in right from the start. From Victoria’s blog and views about being a mother, to Eloise’s almost obsession with having the perfect husband and family. Straight away I had a feeling that some wasn’t quite right as I found Victoria’s way of calling her son by his childhood name, Dom Dom rather disturbing, and with Eloise and Dominic have something to hide, this made for a slow burning compulsive read. It’s quite a dark read as each character is emotionally damaged in some way which reflects in their disturbing actions.
I did struggle to like any of them for different reasons, which only made me more fascinated by them and the dynamics between them. And at times I really wished that Eloise would listen to her sister, who is battling her own demons. There’s also one other character however, who I did feel sorry for, which also left me wondering what he was going to do as the story progressed.
My Family Lies is a dark tale which definitely left me thinking and wanting to know more.

What another excellent 5star read from Nathan, I picked the book up on a Friday evening and thought this will be my weekend read but finished it by lunchtime on Friday. I was captivated from the first page a real page turner.
The book starts with Dominic car going off the road at high speed and crashing the car into a tree after he had been drinking all night. There are 3 women in Dominics life an over bearing Mother Victoria, a wife Eloise and Jaine the personal trainer.
Victoria sees herself as a fierce mama bear, she has a blog “A Mother’s Musing” and still calls him Dom Dom as if he never grew up. Victoria smothered him as a child and wanted to keep him wrapped in cotton wool and didn’t like him out of her sight. Eloise is pregnant, but know that Dominic does not want children so is hiding the pregnancy from everyone but still early days. Janine was in the car when it crashed but managed to get out but has ended up in in a dark cellar.
I do love the way a chapter is given to each character and the pace of the book another excellent read would give more stars if possible

I adore Nathan's books and devour them in one sitting.
Boy oh boy does My Family Liies pack a punch.

The story is told by the four main protagonists, Dominic, his wife Eloise, Dominic's mother Victoria, and Janine.

Dominic is hiding a deep dark secret from years ago and it's starting to effect his mental health, Victoria knows the secret and will do everything in her power keep it hidden.

Victoria comes across as the perfect mother-in-law, and host on a very popular podcast discussing the highs and lows of being a mother.

Eloise just wants a family of her own but Dominic is very determined never to have children, can Eloise achieve her ultimate goal even if it means deceiving Dominic?

Janine also has a secret to keep, but who has drugged, kidnapped her and is torturing her?

Nathan's books always have a dark and twisted storyline to them and My Family Lies is no exception.

Eloise is married to Dominic Hawthorne and they live in Weston Super Mare. Also living in the same town is Dominic’s mother Victoria. Victoria has a really strong emotional pull on her 44 year old son who she still calls Dom Dom.

Briefly, Eloise is pregnant even though Dom has said he doesn’t want children, but before she can tell him he is involved in a serious drunk driving car crash which leaves him in a coma. There was a girl in the car with him who disappears! Drawn into a viscous web of lies is Eloise, her sister Charlotte and an unfortunate Patrick whose only mistake was to rescue Dominic from the crash.

This is a dark story about explosive secrets, and not just the ones I was expecting. Victoria is a chillingly manipulative woman who is determined to keep a family secret and is prepared to go to any means possible to achieve it. A deviously clever plot, but with an inevitability to the ending. A good entertaining read.

Eloise is married to Dominic or Dom Dom as his Mother still insists on calling him. Dom and his mother Victoria have a very strange relationship. One night Dom gets in his car drunk and crashes his car. He ends up in hospital and is seriously ill and connected to machines, will he live or will he die? But it appears he was not alone in the car when it crashed and she is being held hostage by who knows who. Her sister Charlotte arrives to help her out and her Victoria clash, she does not trust her. It seems there are a lot of family secrets waiting to come out or steps may have to be taken to keep them buried.

Very twisty tale, I didn’t really like any of the characters, they all seemed flawed but I really wanted to know what would happen and the ending made you want book 2!

Thank you the author for my advance copy of this book.

Oh! My! Stars! What a rollercoaster of a read. I'm not sure I managed to sleep more than a couple of hours before I finished this book! I hated to put it down. I swear this family put the "dys" in "dysfunctional." Oh, and one major suggestion, if you have blood pressure issues, be sure you take your medication. Otherwise, this book will send your blood pressure into stroke territory. It's that good!! I only have one small criticism, if it can be called that. I would have loved to see the "bad guy" get theirs. The ending makes it clear what's going to happen, but I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when it happened! I can't wait to get my hands on something else by Mr. Moss. His writing is excellent! I received a review copy from the author via Bloodhound Books, and this review reflects my honest and voluntary opinion.

Do you know the sort of book that you love, but also hate? You can’t put it down, you are desperate to find out what happens, but you are also filled with dread. This is definitely a psychological thriller of the very best ( or should that be worst?) kind. Three women, all damaged by their early upbringing. Victoria, an overprotective mother who has smothered her only son’s personality. Eloise, a gentle and passive wife, who fabricates her own perfect reality. And Charlotte, more obviously disturbed, battling with her addiction to alcohol, but, possibly, at the end of the day, the most rational of the three. Where do Janine and Patrick fit into the equation, and what has caused Dominic to be haunted by his demons? Did I enjoy it? Of course. Would I recommend it? Definitely.

This is a very well written book, a thriller with dark twists to it. A family in turmoil with many secrets between them, any of which would bring the lives of those around them come crumbling down. Main characters are Dominic, lying in hospital in a coma, his controlling mother Victoria, the ever loyal wife Elouise, and the other woman Janine. The story is written from their perspectives and is certainly a thrilling read.
There are many twists to this intriguing book, however the storyline flows very easily. As is the norm with this author there is a dark side to some of the many lies told by the characters and you are left wondering where the truth ends and the lies start, and vice versa.
No hesitation in giving this a 5 star review and would highly recommend it.

Absolutely! Here's a brief book review based on what you shared:

Book Review: My Family Lies by N.J. Moss

I've loved every book N.J. Moss has written, but My Family Lies is, hands down, my favourite. Moss’s storytelling just keeps getting sharper, darker, and more addictive with each release. The tension is masterfully built, the twists are genuinely gasp-worthy, and the characters are layered in all the best (and worst) ways. You can feel his growth as a writer—his style has become more confident and compelling, and it’s exciting to watch him evolve into a top-tier thriller author. If you’re not reading N.J. Moss yet, now’s the time to start.

Again Nathan has delivered a brilliant 5* book! I personally feel this is my favourite of Nathan's.

What a page turner! No housework done today! Finished in one sitting, could not put it down 😊 If you want a gripping book then please read this!!!

Dominic hasn't had a great start to life with an over bearing, controlling alcoholic mum and mental health problems of his own. The book opens secrets boxes and drops bombs just when you don't expect it.
Victoria sweet older lady with an online following but what kind of person are they following? She had me wanting to jump into the book and shake her! Eloise holding on to a dream of a fairytale family and not wanting to see what her life really is! Now Eloise sister that was a character that I loved and was talking sense!
If you looking for a book to make you feel arrange of emotions for one charter then this is the book for you!

NJ Moss has a twisted mind, and I love it. If you are expecting a simple tale of family dynamics, you have picked up the wrong book. The story is so intricately woven that you start to believe the lies that come from the pages. The tension throughout the book had me hooked, not wanting to put it down and led me to a very late night, or should I say early morning because I just couldn't put it down. The ending is definitely not what I was expecting, but oh, it's sooooo good. Another excellent read from this author.

NJ Moss is the absolute best at crafting brilliant drama filled stories featuring a bunch of absolutely hateful characters. It's like I don't want to continue, cause the characters are so afwul, but I want to continue cause I want to know how far the lies and delusions go and how it will all implode.
And wow, am I glad I read on! My Family Lies is a brilliant, twisted tale told through the eyes of a cast of unreliable narrators. You're never quite sure what to expect next, what the truth actually is, and how deep and warped the lies go.

How disturbing, I enjoyed it!
Each chapter tells the story from each person’s perspective.
There’s Dominic aka Dom Dom whose mummy loves him a bit too much.
Victoria who is Dom Dom’s mama bear.
Eloise is Dominic’s wife who goes out of her way to ensure that their marriage is perfect.
Charlotte is E’s sister. She has a solicitors mind and feels sure that something is off kilter.

The whole family lies to each other, themselves and just about anyone else in a bid to make themselves look good to the outside world.

This was my first time reading this author. It was a fast-paced thriller that I couldn’t put down, but also delved into family relationship and how they can shape and influence a person’s future actions and character. I could have read this is one sitting if other commitments hadn’t stopped me. I did guess one of the twists, but there was quite a few that I did not. I will be reading more from this author.

My thanks to Bloodhound books for the copy of this book.

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed this author’s entire back catalogue, I was keen to get my hands on his latest offering, and it did not disappoint. In fact, I would go as far as to say it’s his best work to date. The characters are all well-written (if not likeable!), and there are twists and turns aplenty – what’s not to love? Very highly recommended.

A well written slow burn thriller that I owed 4 stars to even if it’s not a book I would normally read.
I disliked all of the well described main characters which is normally a bad thing thing for me and although it wasn’t my best read, I can’t fault the smooth storytelling and well told twists and lies unfolding from this dysfunctional family.

Read all of this authors books and think this is coming in as a firm favourite. As the book title states my family lies but this goes beyond lies this is total disillusioned fantasy. I won’t write about the storyline as the blurb does a great job of that. A well written, great read that grabbed my interest from the first page and didn’t let go until the last page.

This is an easy 5star book that draws you in from page one and keeps you hooked till the last page. Great characters and great storyline. A great thriller with lots of twists. Family binds them together but secrets and lies tear them apart. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be the last. Recommend a read.

Did I read the same book as everyone else? I can’t believe all of these 5 star reviews are real because I am 83% in and it’s dragging on. Hate the narration and the constant dom dom and mama bear talk. None of the characters were likeable and I’m still struggling to understand what the point is of this book.
