A psychic vet, a secretive werewolf, a menace stalking the shifters … welcome to Nocturne. Magic, mystery, and sizzling passion fill the pages of Ruled by the Moon, Book 1 of Naomi Bellina’s hot new paranormal series, Nocturne.

Dylan is a werewolf with a problem. He shifts at the new moon as well as the full moon. He was born a werewolf, not made like most shape-shifters. Due to these unique traits, he’s avoided joining a pack and has given up hope of having a normal life. Morgan is a veterinarian, ready to be on her own for a good long time after leaving a cheating, spineless husband. She has a plan for her life that doesn’t include a bossy, furry man.

Both are drawn to Nocturne, a town filled with magic due to a strong convergence of ley lines in the area. Morgan and Dylan recognize a connection when they meet, but neither one is looking for romance. After a harrowing encounter with a panther shape-shifter, they must combine forces and work together to uncover a menace that threatens the town. If they can learn to trust each other and let their guard down, they have a chance to solve the mystery and open the door to love.

Dylan has a secret he has no plans of sharing ever and Morgan is a veterinarian whose plans do not include bossy furry men, both are drawn to a town full of mystery and magic in this mesmerizing paranormal romance. The magical town fascinates readers and holds them captive just as much as all the intriguing characters and the author has added her own unique and interesting elements to her world that ensure that the readers will want to visit again and again. I was completely enthralled with Morgan and Dylan’s story from the very beginning and I am looking forward to reading the Nocturne adventure – I wonder whose it will be…

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

I really liked this paranormal romance by Naomi Bellina. I like the cover, the title and the whole freaking story! I got lost in the tale from the first page to the last. I think everything came together really nicely and was well written. I didn't think anything was out of place and the story went by smoothly and was interesting and sexy.

Ruled By The Moon had some really great characters. Morgan is a vet who happens to be a psychic. She is really good at what she does and was a surprisingly strong female. Not in just the physical sense, but in the way she really stood out in the story. I liked her sass, her attitude and yes, her temper was something to behold. Dylan is a strong sexy werewolf. He happens to be the last purebred werewolf who was born not turned. He avoids other packs and prefers solitude over anything to protect himself. The moment Dylan and Morgan meet, sparks instantly flare and things get passionate pretty fast. These two are absolutely made for each other and I think Naomi did a great job creating the perfect chemistry between these two hotheads.

From beginning to end I was drawn in with Ruled By The Moon and it was very hard for me to let it go. I enjoyed the story and think for this first book in Naomi Bellina's NEW series, this will no doubt be a favorite. I gave this an astounding FOUR AND A HALF OUT OF FIVE STARS! I loved everything about it and am looking forward to the next book. Keep them coming please!

**Please note, this book was gifted by the author in exchange for an honest review**

Ruled by the Moon takes places in the small, yet mysterious town of Nocturne. Morgan is a psychic veterinarian who finds herself drawn to the mystery so much as to relocate and open her own practice there. After a bitter divorce, Nocturne offers the new start she needs, including a shifter named Dylan.

First, I want to thank author Naomi Bellina for providing my a copy of her book to review. I am currently on my own literary journey, if you will, and I'm learning first hand the level of anxiety and feelings of vulnerability that come along with putting pen to paper. With that being said, you can't please everyone.

I liked the idea of this story but unfortunately, it never fully came together for me. I didn't like, nor did I dislike any of the characters. They were just...there. I couldn't make a connection with any of them therefore I never got invested. So even though the plot itself held promise, I couldn't given it more than 3 stars. I'm looking for more 'umph' and a dominant male who is truly dominant, instead of just occasionally cranky. Ruled by the Moon definitely has an audience. The story is well written and the pace remains steady throughout. It's unfortunate that I couldn't made that much needed connection with the characters.

I gave this book 4.5 stars! What would you do if the man you're attracted to turns into a werewolf? Would you continue to be with him or ditch him like a hot potato? Morgan (psychic, divorced, veterinarian) went full throttle for Dylan (non-bitten werewolf, antique dealer) despite his secrets. Will she have patience for dating or mating a werewolf?

1 1/2 stars for most of the book, and 3 stars for the last 1/8. I like the uniqueness to Dylan, but found the characters all over the place, the alpha was a wimp, and she's a psycho bitch at times. I liked the premise of the story, but it just didn't develop. There's a underlying feeling of a big secret, but it's boring.

Things that bothered me: She too accepting of his wolf, yet ignores it as if she hadn't seen him partially shift, but talks about it. His teeth are elongated, yet he speaks fine. Early in the book she denies he changed at all, then she can't wrap her mind around it, and in the next breath she wants to help him, yet no freak out at all. Dylan talks about her lavender scent, then it changes to patchouli scent. Sunflower seed butter became nut butter. The time and conversation transitions are not smooth. A shifter with nudity issues, that is also alpha, and he struggles to carry a person, and takes orders from others. Who stops to do a yoga pose when they think someone might have broken into their home. Closing her eyes & taking a deep breath to center themselves, but not a yoga pose.

The conversations are all bunched together. There isn't a back and forth dialogue. There is no separation (either extra spaces or a decorative symbol or line) between conversations. Ex. She's talking to Dylan on the phone, and the next paragraph she's talking to Gen. It makes you pause, ruining the flow.

The time transitions are not clear. Ex.: the week goes by in a blur, Tuesday she gets flowers, Friday she has champagne with the ladies, spends the weekend catching up on things, Saturday happens, then Dylan back from his week long trip that he just left on. So it goes from Monday to Friday then back to Tuesday then back to Friday, then the whole weekend, then back to Saturday, then I guess the end of the week since he's back but it's Monday.
Ex: She mentions how she's glad it wasn't a late night at her clinic, then calls Vincent then Genevieve for a 6 pm dinner at her place with homemade bread. Vet's are usually open till 5pm (late days are till 7pm) during the week and you know the vet isn't walking out the door at 5. Then she goes to the store, before getting home to cook & greet her guest.

I just couldn't get into the story. It just never developed. I think the big reason was the characters. I did like the last few chapters, once the big mystery of who/might be drugging weres is hinted at. Once Sysco comes into the story, things start moving, but then things just end.
