The best-selling fantasy romance series from Hungary is available in English for the first time! The souls of the dead are finally free, but angel Sophiel is now caught up in the deadly schemes of the Magus’s witch sisters, led by Diril. On a perilous journey that leads to Hell, and with only the summoner child, Joshua, for company, Sophiel’s immortality is under attack from the darkest of powers. Elijah, meanwhile, tortured by his conflict with the dark angels over his attachment to Sophiel, is sent to find her. Sophiel herself is growing weaker with every moment, and questioning the love she feels for both Elijah and the Archangel Gabriel. Can she bring back the light and save herself from the darkness? In the wars that rage between Heaven and Hell the greatest battles of all are waged within the heart…
A.O. Esther is a bestselling author whose series of fantasy romance novels Shattered Glories have become a phenomenon in her native Hungary since their launch in 2012. The series has grown exponentially, including through social media, and now brings together a wide range of fans.
The series has been translated into English by Mark Baczoni.
A.O. Esther can also be found on Facebook and Pinterest, where she loves interacting with her fans.
After Sophiel released the captured souls, her life became in danger. As witches took her amulet, Sophiel's health gradually weakens. Even though angels are immortal, her mortal body can die. Sophiel will never be able to come back to Earth. She'll never be able to see Elijah again.
In book 3, we see Archangel Gabriel developing feelings for the injured angel. The longer the angels stay on Earth, the more they act and think like normal humans. Sophiel is confused about her own feelings. She knows that her love belongs to Elijah, but she is touched by Gabriel's determination to help her.
Elijah isn't really involved in this book. You only know that he is searching for Sophiel to return her necklace. At this point, I'm half way done with the series, and I might as well just finish the rest of the books. They are fast and easy reads.

So far this has been my least favorite book in this series. That is probably because there is barely any Elijah in this installment. This book surrounds Sophiel and her journey after she has freed the souls.
Sophiel finds herself in Magus'g grasp and in order to save her, the summonor Joshua, and Elijah's life she must give up her angel charm which keeps her strong to Magus and his sisters. Now Sophiel finds herself turning into pure light starting to leave her mortal form. She is getting weaker by the moment and it is up to the other angels to help save her.
Now we get to know some of the other angels as well as Magus's sisters. The sisters are pure evil, of course, and we get some back story of Magus. It does not make him any more likeable but at least we get to know what made the man. I do not like the introduction of a possible love triangle, but I do like Gabriel. I am sure some how Elijah will come to Sophiels rescue.
First thing I should mention is that we don't get a lot of Elijah at all in this book. I think he makes an appearance for just one chapter and that was it. So not enough of him... And that's probably why I didn't quite enjoy this one as much as the last two.
At the end of the last book, I really expected some serious trouble for Sophiel. And while there was some, it wasn't near what I was expecting. Being attacked by not only the Magus, but also his three sisters, Sophiel was forced into the position of removing her necklace. Which equates to a death sentence for her kind. And that is what most of this book was about. Sophiel is slowly starting to glow more and more right along with getting weaker and weaker at a rapid pace. Nothing seems to help slow the progress and she makes one last effort at the end and pretty much comes away from that with nothing but a message from Odin.
But Sophiel, having completed her original mission has been given another one. Along with a special gift to help her along the way. The other angels want to believe that she still has much left to do on Earth and therefore will come out of this okay, but Sophiel is plagued with her fear of dying.
While Sophiel is fighting for her life, the magus and his sisters have infiltrated the hideout of the profits and have created quite the tense environment there by turning the mortals against the angels. They also got the information they were seeking which should never have been shared.
I think that we learn the most about the magus here. We find out a lot about his birth and his childhood and much of what happened to shape him. I wonder if the point of learning about him will come into play later on or if it was just to have some flashbacks to accompany his side of the story.
I am not happy with Gabriel being a possible love interest here. I loathe love triangles and to get one here would seriously tick me off. She needs to be with Elijah. End of story.
I did like how mature Joshua was. For only a ten year old boy he is so much wiser and determined than you would expect. And many times it is only because of him that Sophiel makes it thru some obstacle or even keeps going.
The prologue to this book should have been left out. It made no sense to have it there really, especially because it was repeated again at the end of the book. And speaking of the end of the book...what the hell was that!? That was a cruel place to end damn it.
