Whew! Tides of Resistance kept my blood pressure dangerously high, from the beginning to the end. SOE agent Lizzie is completely on her own in Nazi-occupied France, with no back-up from the French Resistance or London. Churchill needs intelligence on Hitler's Directive No. 40, the fortification plans for the French Atlantic coast. On this mission, Lizzie will have to swim from a submarine, in the dark and freezing water of the English Channel. (And no, Jack is not around to warm her up.)

This is my favorite one in the series so far. I could feel Lizzie's anguish when she was in St. Malo, being only miles from Jersey, but still not knowing the condition of her grandparents. The story is full of unexpected twists, with Lizzie having to react quickly to changing circumstances. Her actions were unpredictable, but not unbelievable. Historically, the SOE female agents were incredibly resourceful and successful. Tides of Resistance can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend the entire series. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book, although the thought of Lizze being in Berlin makes my palms sweat. If you enjoy historical spy thrillers, don't miss this one.

(I love the editing disclaimer that the author always includes at the front of these books, explaining that since she's British, she uses British spelling and grammar rules. I feel her pain. Although I'm American, all of my schooling before college was overseas, so I was taught British spelling and punctuation.)

Fabulous!

What a fabulous addition to this amazing series.
Seagrove is on another dangerous mission inside occupied France. Alone this time, and without Raven, her boss and secret lover there to protect her, is she doomed to failure?
When a top Nazis officer falls for her, Seagrove uses the connection to glean important information to pass onto London. But the connection almost gets her killed, that is, until Raven turns up looking every bit the top ranking German officer.
A piece of fabulous story-telling that had me hooked from the beginning. Highest recommendations!

An easy read and easy to embrace yourself. Some parts predictable though flowed quite well.

An Exceptional Story

Knowing how well this story and the others in this series are researched, I'm so impressed with the resistance groups that worked all through WWII! Understanding how vital the information is and how helpful the sabotage was to winning the war, makes this story even more amazing.
This series gives the most real account of what the resistance does. Great story for anyone who is interested in WWII.

I absolutely love this WWII historic fiction series! In this book 4, Lizzie is now sent to St. Malo, France on a secret reconnaissance mission by the SOE. Staying with her aunt and family, she pretends to be a family friend who is convalescing from a sickness. When she gets the attention of the leading Nazi in town, and learns he is responsible for Hitler’s daunted Atlantic Wall, it’s as if a gift has landed in her lap. Keeping her true identity hidden is difficult and the story leaves you desperate for the next book to be written!

The story was one that kept you guessing to the end but the ending was easy to establish from the other books but written in a way that will keep you turning page after page just to get to the ending very very good.
