4.5.....getting jiggy with it and still holding my breath......stars.

Yet again I find myself finishing a Brooke Harris book and realising I didn't put up a single status update because I was so engrossed in it that I just didn't want to stop reading.

If you've never tried this author before then Id highly highly recommend. I really love Brookes writing style and the two books I've now read of hers have very quickly pulled me in. They have become those books that you take to loo with you because you can't miss a single page, they've become one of those books that you stay up far too late to finish because you just need to know what's going to hapoen. This series (and yes it's a continuing series so you need to read book 1 first) has gripped me as a reader from book 1 and this second book certainly does not disappoint.

This instalment follows on the love/lust story of Eva and the highly mysterious alpha Julian (who also happens to be Irish and I'm a Brit girl who is sucker for an Irish accent.....pun intended), it's jammed packed with....... action, (yes there's blood, sweat and tears and other bodily fluids)........ mystery (yes there's a few "WTF" and "OMG" moments,....and last but not least some good old Romance......(well I say romance more like rough, animalistic, hot, sweaty, highly descriptive erotic sex scenes (yes ladies and gents this one gets you HOT all over).

And that's why its a 4.5 from me because it has a gripping storyline, words that flow, characters that's intrigue (and also bloody frustrate at times) and a finale that has me WTFing........

I admit to being a gluton for punishment so I came into the 2nd book knowing what I would get. The ending was unexpected. Will I read part 3? No idea, but I will say that this relationship dynamic is seriously frustrating, sad, toxic, and not at all sexy to me. But kudos to the author for drawing the reader in and getting a reaction. This story drives me nuts, and while it isn't my cup of tea, good on the author for capturing me into a world I not only do not understand but do not particularly like. Her characters are unexpected.

Lead characters can be annoying...

It irritates me how dumb Eva is at times. No matter what Jullian does, even almost dying for her, the smallest bits of gossip from sources that have proven to be unreliable fill her with doubt and insecurity. She jumps to conclusions based on misinformation and spins herself out of control. At what point do you stop listening to other people and trust what you know???

Another confusing chapter to this series. I still haven’t figured this all out. Eva is in New York working and Julian is still fucking around in Dublin. Then he gets a call about some dude in jail and rushes to NY to see him and he’s dying. Turns out to be Eva’s abusive father. They have some sort of connection that we kind of find out about but not really, but Eva doesn’t learn anything until the very end of the book. Then there is her sister and a bunch of crime drama that puts Eva unnecessarily in danger. This is when having 2 POVs is frustrating since we the reader know what’s going on and the other characters fuck it all up and make us mad.
There’s a bombshell at the end, so now I have to finish this series.

So many surprising, unsuspected twists, I like it!

Still not the best connection with the characters, but we get a better look at Julian's childhood, making him less distant to the reader. There is a lot of attention on how Eva is supposedly broken and damaged due to her childhood abuse and her running away from home, and how Julian is helping her grow stronger/better by playing with her. I don't get this. She has never seemed damaged, shy or emotionally closed up and therefore, in my opinion, didn't need fixing in the first place. It doesn't impact my opinion of the book much, but is something that bothered me already in the first book.

I read this as Playing Irish. I liked the story and did not know it wasn't a stand-alone. I ordered other two books in series and can't wait to continue the story. Strong characters and changing storyline.

Ahh that ending!!

OH MY GOSH! These books are so good it feels like leaving any detail is an injustice to future readers.
I have quickly fallen in love with Julian... even though I've found myself hoping Eva would slap him a time or two as well. These characters were so easy for me to love. Except for Nathan... there is just something about that guy that I can't stand. I fully expected him to have been in cahoots with the Da Luca's all along. Looking forward to the next installment. Oh and I have to add that I LOVE that Miss Harris actually gives us a full book to enjoy with each installment. She doesn't short change us with a story that takes less than an hour to read. LOVE IT!!

Was really excited to read this to find out what happens and was sorely disappointed. This book was confusing, and off the wall. The main character Eva was already getting on my last nerve by the end of book 1, halfway through book 2 I wanted to strangle her. I had to keep rereading pages to make sure I didn't miss something or misread something because of the confusing storyline. It seems like the author was just adding stuff to make a 3rd book. The cliffhanger made me think "are you F'g kidding me!!" What else could you possibly do to these people. I am not really excited for book 3 but I want to find out what happens to Julian because he is about the only character who wasn't getting on my nerves by the end of book 2. Uggh

I cannot get enough of Julian. That man is a panty dropper for sure! The game, the damn game...who is really playing?
I was a little confused with the development of the story but don't get me wrong. It had been a long while since I read book one. There was so much going on and WOW! Just when you think you got it figured out a small piece of information is dropped that changes everything. Uhh I love this series. I cannot wait for the next installment because damn that cliffhanger at the end made me want to smash my kindle for being done lol.
Again, great read.

OMG

Didn't see this coming. I couldn't put it down and the next thing I knew, we were at the end waiting to hear if he lives and a WIFE. what is in the letter Anthony was told about just before Julien went into Vertigo. This is a true cliffhanger. So much going on. We learned a lot, but now we need answers. Love it, How soon do we get book 3.?

I couldn't wait to read this after the first and I wasn't disappointed. Though I am left in suspense and can't wait for number 3. You're killing me here Brooke!! Again very well written. Lots of things were explained but then that twist?! OMG. I didn't think it could get better but it did. Hurry up already with Queen please! Had to be 5 stars!

The continued story was OK. Lacked development in a lot of areas and like the first one needed to be ran through another round of editing. There were quite a few careless spelling errors. I won't be suckered into getting the third installment unless it's free. Too many technical glitches and not enough depth fleshed out.

Crazy Confusing

I was hoping for some answers this time around. I was excited to get towards the end and boom! Cliffhanger! I was beginning to think that just maybe Julian's character was capable of redemption. Now, I hate him and I don't like the way the women share. It is sickening. Will I read the next enstallment? Yes! I want my happy ending!

Games, passion, hidden agendas, suspense, mystery, love, lust and oh BTW one HOT alpha Irishman by the name of Julian! Throw in a cliffhanger with a curve and I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for the next round of games to be played!

I liked the book and story is good, there is so much angst and mystery, then the cliff hanger. WOW! hang on to your heart. I don't know how much more this girl can go through. She is already stronger than I would ever be able to be. Looking forward to the next book!

Good read

While the story was good with all the twist and turns, it has a lot of errors in the grammar department. I would still recommend reading both books and can't wait on the next on. I hope it's soon

As the book progressed, It started to get very frustrating that the cycle was never ending, I get there is the need to have drama, but it got to be too much frustrating with the characters not learning from their experiences and getting in the same cycle over and over again... too much.
