I have a bunch of these small books called The Pyramid Illustrated History of the Movies but this is the first I have read. this is not really a traditional biography because it skips over the early life stuff and just concentrates on his film career, which is what I really wanted to know about. There’s a lot of plot summary in here which can get a little boring, but he captures Mitchum’s overall persona pretty well.

I absolutely love everything I have seen Mitchum play in. So when I found this little gem in one of my favorite used book stores I immediately purchased it. I enjoyed reading about so many of his movies he starred in, as well as some trouble he dappled in along the way. I am definitely looking forward to reading a full biography about his life story.

This book is a quick read and the theme is exploring Robert Mitchum's screen persona. The book could have been, and should have been, better.
