Run

Rate this book
In the heart of rural Afghanistan, where tradition holds tightly to silence and obedience, a young girl named Bahar dares to dream of something more.

Run is a deeply moving and beautifully written novel that follows the journey of Bahar, a girl born into a society where women are expected to remain quiet, hidden, and unquestioning. Raised by her loving mother and wise grandmother, Bahar is surrounded by strength but also by the weight of a culture that limits her voice.

As she grows, Bahar’s thirst for education, freedom, and self-worth deepens. Her life becomes a reflection of countless girls who are forced to choose between tradition and transformation. With each chapter, we witness Bahar’s growth—from a curious child to a determined young woman committed to shaping her identity despite the challenges she faces.

Set against the backdrop of Afghan village life, this novel explores themes of gender, family, love, education, and resilience. Bahar’s story represents the many untold stories of girls who quietly carry the burden of expectation while nurturing bold dreams in their hearts.

I actually won Run in a Goodreads giveaway and read it off my Kindle app and I’m so glad I did. This book hit me hard—it’s emotional, raw, and so powerful. What really stayed with me is how it shows that women can achieve anything, no matter their background, race, ethnicity, or where they come from. And the main character… she never let go of her convictions, right up to the very end. That kind of resilience and drive is what makes this story unforgettable.

I received a copy of it at a book launch in a Library in Austin, Texas. Reading Run before its official release was an unforgettable experience. From the very first page, I was pulled into Bahar’s world—a world full of silence, shadows, and hope. The story is raw, emotional, and beautifully written. It doesn’t just tell you what happened—it makes you feel it.

I found myself crying, getting angry, and holding my breath as I turned each page. The characters, especially Bahar, Kalantar Sahib, and Siyar feel so real that I still think about them long after finishing. It’s not just a story about one girl—it’s a voice for many who have never heard.

Run is heartbreaking yet empowering. It reminded me of the power of love, resilience, and the importance of standing up—even when the world tells you to sit down. If you read one book this year, let it be this one. This story will stay with you.

I came across the Run ad on Instagram, and the cover immediately caught my attention. Out of curiosity, I read the back cover—and even that alone gave me goosebumps. Just a few lines and I already felt the emotion and depth behind Bahar’s story.

I haven’t read the full book yet, but the message and tone are so powerful that I had to join the giveaway. I truly hope I win a copy because something tells me this book is going to leave a deep impact. It already feels unforgettable, and I can’t wait to see what’s inside.

Run shattered my heart in the most beautiful way. Bahar's voice so honest, so full of quite strength, will stay with me forever. This novel isnt just about one girl's fight for freedom, it is about the pain, the love, and the hope that lives in every silenced soul.

After reading this book, I feel so fortunate that I am living in USA and enjoy my freedom. This book changed me! This book is not just read- it's felt deep in the bones.

I cried, I ached and I felt every word.

If I don't say better than the Kite Runner, I can say, it is the same as the Kite Runner but from a girl's view. Love It!!

A very atmospheric novel that wish was just a far fetched fantasy story. It’s placed in a rural village in Afghanistan where women are punished for just being women and have no voices and just treated as commodities by the closest male relative. This is tribute to every girl who dared not to obey that “norm” and break their cage/jail. Bahar is lovely girl who dared to dream, work for her dreams and love someone that her uncle didn’t approve. She simply dared to say no.

It’s a very emotional novel so make sure you’ve got tissues near you. I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it.

I received this book as a giveaway. This is a very gripping story, one that you wish was fiction, but is all too true for so many. Bahar’s story grips you from the very beginning, and keeps you rooting for her until the very end.

This is "the Kite Runner" type book, but very emotional and heartbreaking. The author really did amazing job, I felt heart broken and in tears while reading it. Make sure you have tissues ready once you start reading it.
Bahar also had very good moments in her life, some tears were for her happiness and achievements and some for ......

I saw the author added a note at the end of the book to support him with leaving an honest review and that is what I am doing now. Please read it and you won't regret it. Make sure you post a review to just support this young author.

Run broke me. I felt Bahar's every tear, every heartbeat, every scream for freedom. Run is devastating, beautiful and painfully real.

The author did an amazing job. I want to call him Khaled Hussaini Jr.

Amazing Book. Have it on your must-read list. I usually do not post reviews, but the author requested on his last page of the book that if I liked reading it, post a review just to support him. I want to support him as his book was amazing. Good Luck Mr. Aminy.

I only listened to the first 22 minutes of the Run audiobook on TikTok—and wow, I’m already hooked. The narrator’s voice gave me chills, and the emotion in Bahar’s story hit me right away. Even with such a short preview, I could feel the pain, strength, and mystery woven into every word.

I just entered the giveaway because I need to finish this book. Hoping I get lucky and win a copy, because if the rest is anything like the beginning, I know this is going to be a powerful, unforgettable read.
