Arthur Grant was born deaf and marked by loss. Now, a crumbling house in Smalltown offers him a fresh start—until he discovers a broken community in need of hope.
Armed with simple index cards and a heart full of quiet strength, Arthur begins changing lives one message at a time. From skeptical townsfolk to a discouraged pastor, from fractured families to bustling diners, his silent influence spreads across the town in unexpected ways.
But change is never easy. As Smalltown awakens to new possibilities, Arthur must face his own deepest wounds—and find the courage to communicate when it matters most.
Wow! This book will make you want to invest in index cards and a sharpie. It will make you want to learn sign language. It will make you want to eat apple pie. But, most of all, this book will make you want to make a difference in the lives around you. Silent Influence is simply written giving you insight into a Deaf man’s world and thoughts. It is a fiction book with yet it feels as if you are sitting at the kitchen table learning about the life of a man…a man who made a difference in spite of obstacles placed in front of him. This is not a long book, but it is a solid Christian read that will leave you wanting to know more - more of Arthur’s story, more of Smalltown’s story and hopefully more of Jesus’ story.
Thoroughly enjoyed this quick read. Inspiring, touching story. Loved the message. Communication is key. I may or may not have had tears of JOY throughout this book.
Really easy read. The story was cute, touching, and inspiring. I love how it shows Deaf can do anything...no voice needed. Simple message, but powerful!
