Joyce Sutphen (born 1949) is an American poet, currently serving as Minnesota's Poet Laureate. She is the state's second laureate, appointed by Governor Mark Dayton in August, 2011. Sutphen also serves as a professor of English at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota.
What a delightful collection of poetry! I began reading it yesterday to kick off national poetry month; I was eager to continue and finished it just a day later. Cleverly and engagingly pondering all the ways we read, write, and think in poetic images and verses, Sutphen made me smile over and over again with her observations, analogies, and linguistic creativity. Highly recommend!
