Synopsis:
We join the action en media res, with a base being invaded. We don’t know what side we are on or where we are. We just know we are on a not-so-secret (anymore) paramilitary base that’s being invaded by the enemy. This book’s premise is basically, if a Christo-fascist nation wanted to round up all the queers. Would they go? Would they put up a fight? This book is a great primer on what is happening in our country.

Review:
This book was a thriller from the start. I could not stop reading and putting it down was not an option. I was on the edge of my seat! This was a political thriller that’s similarity to current times was both haunting and unfortunately believable. As a queer person, this story was heartwrenching and soul crushing in its believability. I am so despondent with the mirror that it held up to our current times and the current administration. It is so well written, however. The author utilizes a timeline in this book which is a covert nod to the timeline of the January 6th insurrection for those who have read the report - in fact I think it’s the exact same timeline…
I am so happy that the author wrote this and he chose to publish it on his own instead of toning it down for a bigger publishing company to take it.

Pick this up for something akin to the “Handmaid’s Tale” but LGBTQIA+

A political thriller like no other. This novel draws from historical events to create a present day that seems unfortunately less fictional every day. A country where the nationalist Christians use their power to come for the LGBTQ+, but they’re not going anywhere!

Insurrection is a genre bending novel that combines a thrilling plot and urgent action with a modern depiction of characters that readers will love and love-to-hate. This novel sets out a terrifying scenario in which a Nazi-like and homophobic government acts on its promises to eradicate queer people, and in which a queer underground makes its own plans and fights back! This is not only a fun read, it is also an unflinching view of American past and present politics that everyone should read, regardless of their views. This book will give you all the feelings and leave you wanting more.

A page turner from the first page to the last! Beautifully written, well thought-out, action packed, and terrifyingly relevant. A must read for anyone who cares about our country and its future. Get it, you won't regret it!!
